Exorcising the Demon

PG-13ish (dark themes, possible language? will edit if needed!)/In progress
"It's good to be back."
Things had gone rather well according to his plans for awhile. He'd had his fun in Lawrence, wrecking his way through his host's personal relationships. Maybe they knew he'd been possessed, but he was pretty sure that some of the things that had been said still stung Kol, even if he knew that everything said to him in the last week or so wasn't to him, not really. But some things just struck hard on a nerve and he couldn't quite let shake free of it.
A chemical spill and a shooting. They had seemed like such run-of-the-mill things that they almost seemed innocent, tame in a way. Nothing like an orphanage or national monument of some kind. But he supposed he liked it that way, being subtle was more his style, unlike some of the others. He'd been found walking away from the site of the shooting by one of the supers from Lawrence, Kon or something he thought was his name. He'd actually gotten a good hit in before he stormed off to clean up the mess "Kol" was leaving behind. He laughed and went on his way like nothing had happened.
Rebekah had contacted him, nothing much, just a simple snapshot of her and the little anti-Christ with a message prompting him to set up a meeting place. He replied back and once it was set, he went to wait for her. She was stupid, blinded by her love for her brother. She'd even offered to let him take her on in exchange for her dear beloved brother.
However, when Rebekah showed up, the game had changed. The baby she had was a doll and not the child at all. But it didn't matter anymore because she was already reciting the exorcism and he could feel it working from the inside out. He was going to run and oh, he tried, but she stopped him. She'd clearly gone and had a snack because her strength was just superior enough to his own that she could hold him in place. He hadn't fed much while he was in this body, just enough to tide over because it was a filthy, disgusting thing they did, but she had the upper-hand now and he knew it.
The demon fought for control, tried to cling to him like the disease it was, spreading so easily throughout his entire being, but there was no real win for it now, no chance with Rebekah reciting the exorcism. But oh, it took time, it wasn't a quick single line. And in those last seconds of control, a fight between the two of them struck out as Kol tried to regain control of his body once again. And in that last, single moment, despite his own protests and before he had full control, it did it. The parasite, desperate in it's need to destroy and destruct everything it's path, down to the very last second, switched Kol's emotions off. And by the time he had his body again, it was too late--it had already been done.
He sat on the ground in a heap for the shortest moment, thinking things through. All that time that thing had been inside him, in his head, controlling him... but it didn't matter now, did it? And not because it was gone, because it was over. But because he didn't care. He didn't care that there was thing in his head controlling his every move, ruining every bloody relationship he'd ever had. He didn't care about the damage he would have to face because of the demon, about the things his siblings had said that had stung as he'd only been able to watch with helplessness. None of it mattered now. He didn't care about anything. And upon that realization, a laugh escaped him. Slow at first, barely audible, but bubbling loud and nearly uncontrollable, yet lacking the humor it should have contained, but it stopped nearly as soon as it started and he looked up at Rebekah. "It's good to be back." there was a smirk firmly in place and a certain look in his eyes that only three people would truly know. And Rebekah was one of them.
