Who: Kon and Allana
What:Dealing or not dealig with loss.
When:Sometime at somewhere. With stuff.
Where:Kon's place.
Warnings:tba!

He'd spent all day looking for Clark with Barry and Allana's help. He was determined to spend all night doing it too if he had to. He wasn't gone. Kon just couldn't accept it. He'd finally gotten the relationship he'd always wanted with Clark, to lose him would just be too much. He would be alone. That idea terrified him being without Clark. Clark told him that he wouldn't go anywhere and would always be there for him. Logically he knew Clark didn't control the seal, but it didn't make it hurt less. Clark had made his share of mistakes, but that hadn't meant that Kon didn't want him there. He wanted him there more then anything.

"He's pretty good at hiding when he doesn't want to be found." Kon said hopefully as he could while he paced his apartment in his new uniform. "Remember? he hid for like two weeks that one time.." He folded his arms and looked down at Krypto who was trying to follow him around and eventually just tripped over himself instead. Kon didn't smile, he hadn't done anything funny all day. He just couldn't bring himself to pretend to be happy with the sick feeling he felt in the pit of his stomach that said Clark was gone. It meant in this world he was the last Kryptonian. He didn't have Clark to go to for advice or the occasional distraction he didn't have any blood family at all. That scared him. He'd never not had that in some form or another.

Krypo got up to nudge his hand and Kon looked down at the dog with worried blue eyes then over at Allana. "I haven't checked his apartment yet. I can't." Finally he at least forced a smile and ran a hand nervously through his dark hair. Without Clark was a thing he didn't know how to cope with and it was showing but he really didn't care. "I was so mad at him before." His voice trailed off as he knelt down beside Krypto and stroked his ears.

Allana had been sitting on the edge of Kon’s bed, legs crossed under her, and watching her boyfriend pace the length of the apartment. For the earlier part of the day she’d traversed Lawrence with him, following him in and out of a series of what seemed like increasingly random locations. She’d done all of it quietly, for her anyway, and the running stream of quips and jokes had less edge than usual as she tried to buffer her boyfriend without making it too obvious.

She’d been certain that Clark was gone from the beginning. While she may have had her differences over the utility and fashionableness of capes with the older Kryptonian, she’d never thought of him as the kind of person who would disappear without warning, or let people worry when there was a way he could avoid it. He’d ducked out on everyone recently, when Darcy had gone home, but he’d still been available, had still made sure his friends and family knew he was okay. The fact that he hadn’t made the same effort this time, and that a search of the city had turned up nothing, sealed the deal for her. You didn’t drag off or injure someone like Clark without creating quite the scene, or without his super-powered and attentive-to-trouble clone hearing it. The seal was the only option.

Not that knowing makes it any easier, she thought, remembering Jennifer, Cade, and her grandfather. She couldn’t say she knew what Kon would go through, losing the only family he had, but she did know how it could feel to really hate the arbitrary apocalypse-driven force that pulled them here and there like leaves blowing in the wind.

She’d been letting her Kon ramble without interruption (most people would say she owed him on that front), but as he wound down, admitting that he couldn’t look in Clark’s room and regretting the past, she pushed up off the bed and crossed to where he was crouched next to Krypto. She reached down and laid a hand on his shoulder, giving it a small squeeze.

“You don’t have to,” she said, “not until you’re ready. It’s not like whatever’s there is going anywhere, you know? And,” she added, “don’t beat yourself up over getting mad at him. Families have fights. It didn’t mean anything, he knew that.”

She lowered herself to the floor next to him, side by side so that their shoulders were touching slightly, and reached her hand out to scratch under Krypto’s chin. It would have been easy, would have felt natural and honest, for her to open her mouth and keep talking, to say, “You still have me, you’ll always have me” but it wouldn’t have been true. She knew that one of them could disappear back through the seal at any moment, without warning, without a chance to say goodbye, and that they might not even remember each other when it happened. She’d spent the past few days missing her grandfather and nervously scanning the Force every so often to make sure everyone was accounted for. Sometimes it seems like we just can’t catch a break

His own comments had become increasingly more worried and nervous the more they looked without any real success. In the back of his mind he knew the likelihood that Clark was still in Kansas was low but he didn't want to admit it. Admitting that meant he was alone. Logically he knew he had Allana, but really she could be gone tomorrow too. His brows furrowed as he folded his arms uncomfortably to keep from wearing a hole in his sleeves with all his nervous movements.

"I should. That would probably be the only place I haven't really looked. How can I say I looked everywhere if I didn't really look everywhere." He was tense and looked down rubbing at the back of his neck and watching as Allana came toward him. He could manage a small smile, but behind it was worry. Clark was one of the few who regardless of his own feelings on whatever stupid thing Kon had done that week had stuck up for him if someone else decided he was wrong or tried to pick an argument with him. Clark had been there through everything right next to Allana. His leaving was something he didn't quite know how to react to.

He felt things, but most of them were saying worry. Don't stop. Everyone could be gone tomorrow. You'd be left here. It was irrational, but he couldn't make the little obnoxious worry voice stop. He sank down beside Allana and just sat there looking down at the floor. "I can't do it. I can't look." He watched Krypto instead who was easily distracted with Allana's attention since his master was busy sulking he took advantage in what he could get.

It'd been a long disappointing day but really Kon couldn't bring himself to sleep or relax yet. He didn't know if he would be able to any time soon either. "We used to fight all the time. When he first found me outside of Cadmus he didn't want anything to do with me." He couldn't help but remember the past, they'd come so far. "I actually thought he finally wanted me. Nobody really did. I was angry at all of them. They treated me like I was just a ticking time bomb. A Luthorcorp experiment with unpredictable powers before." He reached out to pet Krypto. "I could hardly tell a lot of the time if Clark even liked me. Only recently when I left home did any of them really start to treat me like I was one of them then I got pulled here and had to start all over with three different versions of Clark." He wanted to hit something, but he also didn't want to break his own things.

"Every time I tried. We got close and he went away. If the seal brings another one.." He paused and the corners of his lips tightened slightly. "I don't know if I can do it again."
