WHO: The Doctor and OPEN
WHAT: Confusion, then arrival.
WHEN: Night, May 8th.
WHERE: The sidewalk off of a park.
WARNINGS: Nothing really. Oh, except for the confusion. Both the confusion of the Doctor and the confusion he's bound to cause in whoever comes across him. He's quite good at that.

The crash knocked him out of the moment.

Okay, it wasn't really a crash so much, as he clearly didn't hit anything. But it felt a bit like one, or more like an earthquake. It was enough to knock the Doctor off his feat, holding himself up on just the edge of the TARDIS console. Hearing Donna shout (as she always shouted when worried), "What the hell was that?" was enough to get him back on his feet though.

"It must have came from outside," he stated as he rushed to the TARDIS doors. But when he flung them open he didn't see what he expected to. It wasn't quite nothing, as there was clearly something there. The problem was that the something was space, not Earth. A few huge rocks floating here and there, but no land in sight. Normally that wouldn't be so odd, but the fact that he was supposed to be firmly planted on Earth turned it into a bad situation.

He stared on for a moment, hardly noticing when Donna peered out the doors from behind him, saying a stunned, "We're in space..." but he didn't stare for long. Just as she started asking, "How did it happen? What did you do?" he rushed back to the console to check the screens.

And that's when even more weird happened. "We've moved," he said, voice low and confused. "It says we're in Kansas. Why we're in Kansas, I have no idea." There was no way they could be in Kansas, after all. There was nothing out the doors in front of them. His first thought was that something in his computers had a glitch. But that was quickly banished from his mind, especially when Donna had no quick retort for him. Worried, he looked back towards the doors where he left her, shocked to see that not only was she gone, but he could very clearly see a park outside the doors.

"Donna?" he said quietly, voice raising as he rushed, once more, towards the front doors. This time he actually stepped out of them. "Donna!" he called out again when he didn't see her.

The TARDIS had somehow decided to land him in Kansas even though he hadn't asked her to, and Donna was nowhere in sight. This wasn't exactly how he expected his night to go.

But then again, it rarely went the way he expected.

Leela had left the building she'd been holed up in the past several days, mostly at K-9's insistence that she needed fresh air. For the moment, she wasn't crying, but she had a haggard appearance, suggesting she hadn't gotten much sleep. She also had a bandaged shoulder with stitches where she had been shot. It was healing well, Leela had been treating it well. Sure she'd undoubtedly have a scar, but she didn't mind it. Scars were a sign of honor where she came from.

As she walked, her senses were on alert in case the military was still around, but, thankfully, it seemed they had left, or at least started clearing out. She made her way through a park, thinking being in a place of nature would be better for her. But as she walked, her mind was a million miles away. She thought of Romana, of Pandora, of Andred. Moving on shouldn't be so hard for her, but this time it was. Perhaps if Alema hadn't gotten her claws into her things would've been better for her in dealing with it all.

Then suddenly, there was a noise that pulled her out of her thoughts and she stopped in her tracks. She recognized that sound. Her eyes went wide and for a moment she couldn't believe her own ears.

"Doctor," she murmured. "K-9, it is the Doctor!" She glanced down at her robot companion.

"Affirmative. My sensors indicate the TARDIS has materialized-" K-9 was cut off from giving Leela the exact coordinates of the TARDIS when she broke into a full run. Leela ran in the direction the noise came from. The Doctor's arrival would be very welcome, it was what she really needed. Someone that knew her and understood her, to some extent. She was running blindly that she barely missed running head-first into the Doctor and ran through the open door and into the TARDIS control room. Inside she came to a halt about two yards in and blinked. It was far different looking than she'd remembered it being.

"Doctor?" She looked around the control room, expecting to find the bushy-haired man she'd known. It hadn't quite registered in her mind that she'd actually ran past him on her way in. K-9 was trailing behind, but making his way towards the TARDIS.

The Doctor had been just about to call for Donna again when he felt the sudden need to side step a bit to avoid the girl that was running full speed towards him. Dressed something like a savage. And with a little robotic dog rolling after her. Honestly, it took him a second to realize exactly who it was bolting into his TARDIS and shouting for his attention. After all, it had been so very long since he'd seen her. Hundreds of years and all that.

But when it sank in he was momentarily distracted from his need to shout after Donna some more. She was a big girl, she could take care of herself. Most of the time, at least. And besides, he'd get back to calling after her in no time.

Smiling, he followed Leela into the TARDIS, shoving his hands into his pockets as he walked. "I'm over here, actually," he started simply, leaning on the railing for a moment as he took in the sight of one of his companions long past. "Hello, Leela. It's been a while. Oh, I've got a new face, by the way. But all in all it's still me."

Not one to allow himself to go silent for long, or to even stop to let people take in the information they've been given before continuing, the Doctor went on, his mind moving to brand new questions as he started walking towards her again. "What are you doing here? You stayed behind on--" That was a statement he didn't want to finish, one that led to even more problems. Ones that wiped the smile right off his face. "You shouldn't be here." Really, she shouldn't actually exist any more.

Leela glanced around the control room, thinking it was even bigger than she'd remembered. When she heard the Doctor, she turned around to look at him. Regeneration was something she had gotten used to on Gallifrey, but the fact that the Doctor looked so completely different from the one she'd known threw her. She looked him up and down for some moments before she let it pass.

"I can see that. Very different from how I remember you." Leela was simple and she did roll with things. Time Lord regeneration being one of them. It was a concept she still didn't completely comprehend, but she knew enough to let her have a basic understanding. Time Lords were so confusing sometimes. "It is good to see you, Doctor." Which it was. Leela was completely relieved he was here now. He couldn't make things with Romana better, but Leela could at least have an easier time knowing there was someone here she could count on. She smiled softly, the best she could muster given her emotional turmoil.

Her smile faded as soon as the Doctor's did. "This place is not in our world. I do not completely understand, but we were pulled here by some magic seal." She half-expected the Doctor to give her a lecture about how magic wasn't real, like he'd done several times before. But she put everything in terms she could understand, and in essence, the seals were magical. "I am really not the one to explain it, but there is a war going on here. People have died on both sides." Leela hung her head, wondering how she could even break the news of Romana's death to him. K-9 finally caught up with them both and came to a stop beside Leela.

"Greetings, Master," he chirped, effectively breaking up Leela's downer of a moodswing.
