WHO: The Doctor and OPEN
WHAT: Confusion, then arrival.
WHEN: Night, May 8th.
WHERE: The sidewalk off of a park.
WARNINGS: Nothing really. Oh, except for the confusion. Both the confusion of the Doctor and the confusion he's bound to cause in whoever comes across him. He's quite good at that.
The crash knocked him out of the moment.
Okay, it wasn't really a crash so much, as he clearly didn't hit anything. But it felt a bit like one, or more like an earthquake. It was enough to knock the Doctor off his feat, holding himself up on just the edge of the TARDIS console. Hearing Donna shout (as she always shouted when worried), "What the hell was that?" was enough to get him back on his feet though.
"It must have came from outside," he stated as he rushed to the TARDIS doors. But when he flung them open he didn't see what he expected to. It wasn't quite nothing, as there was clearly something there. The problem was that the something was space, not Earth. A few huge rocks floating here and there, but no land in sight. Normally that wouldn't be so odd, but the fact that he was supposed to be firmly planted on Earth turned it into a bad situation.
He stared on for a moment, hardly noticing when Donna peered out the doors from behind him, saying a stunned, "We're in space..." but he didn't stare for long. Just as she started asking, "How did it happen? What did you do?" he rushed back to the console to check the screens.
And that's when even more weird happened. "We've moved," he said, voice low and confused. "It says we're in Kansas. Why we're in Kansas, I have no idea." There was no way they could be in Kansas, after all. There was nothing out the doors in front of them. His first thought was that something in his computers had a glitch. But that was quickly banished from his mind, especially when Donna had no quick retort for him. Worried, he looked back towards the doors where he left her, shocked to see that not only was she gone, but he could very clearly see a park outside the doors.
"Donna?" he said quietly, voice raising as he rushed, once more, towards the front doors. This time he actually stepped out of them. "Donna!" he called out again when he didn't see her.
The TARDIS had somehow decided to land him in Kansas even though he hadn't asked her to, and Donna was nowhere in sight. This wasn't exactly how he expected his night to go.
But then again, it rarely went the way he expected.
