Who: Damon and Elena (and Elphie?)
What: ELENA I SSO NTO DRUNK. Dmaon doessnt haev to resceu her! Pshhh!
Where: Local pub
When: Backdated to last night’s drunken drama.

Lawrence Kansas seemed to drive people to drink on a regular basis. It was no surprise that, because of so many stressors, Elena found herself a mess in a local bar. Even less of a surprise? Damon was already out the door ready to rescue the girl from further public humiliation. Around so many people it wasn’t like he could vampire-speed it on over to the bar, but he could be pushy about it. He elbowed his way over to the place. Just beyond the door he could smell the booze. Damon was almost tempted to stop and share a drink with the adorably intoxicated girl he’d come to rescue, but for some reason he was hell-bent on getting her somewhere safe and comfy.

He saw her through the crowd. Elena looked happy, like her troubles had been conveniently washed away like chalk wiped off of a blackboard. It was good to see her smile. He walked over to her and put a hand on her shoulder.

Elena blinked when she felt a hand on her shoulder. Wondering who it could be, the brunette turned around and then smiled brightly. True, it meant that Damon was there to rescue her from herself, not that she was allowed to get anymore drinks as the bar keeper had already cut her and Elphaba off from getting anything else to drink, but surprisingly, the two hadn't been kicked out yet.

"Damon!" Hanging up the phone, Elena did the most logical thing, She hugged the vampire before stepping back. "You didn't have to come you know, I'm fine." Of course, the words were slightly slurred and she stumbled some. But she was fine. She hadn't fallen into Damon or anything. At least, not yet.

Elphie was feeling quite hot. Perhaps it was due to the number of drinks she'd had, or the fact she was laughing a lot or that there were several people in the bar. Whatever the reason, she was fanning herself with her hand when Damon walked up to join the party. She grinned at him.

"Damon!" After Elena had detached herself from Damon, Elphie lanched herself at the vampire and hugged him, squeezing him tightly. "It's good to see you!" Unlike Elena, however, Elphie didn't let go. The physical contact was rare coming from the witch, but it came more freely when she was drunk, apparently. "It's good that you came!" She giggled, still clinging to the vampire.

It really was hot in the bar. But given all of the factors of drinks and people, it made sense. So Elena wasn't really thinking about it. Then, something strange happened. Elphaba hugged Damon. And she remained latched onto the vampire. Which was even weirder. But what was weirder yet? The feeling of jealousy that welled up inside of the brunette. It didn't make sense. For one, she knew that Elphaba loved Galinda. And two? She wasn't with Damon.

So, because of this jealousy, Elena did the most logical thing. She pried Elphaba off of Damon before turning her attention to the vampire.

"Well, since you're here, you should get something to drink. I mean, we can't have anymore because the bar keeper is being mean and says no, but you should totally get something to drink." Nodding to prove her point, Elena stumbled into Damon, flushing brightly. Damon had pretty eyes. Idly, she wondered if he knew that. But she wouldn't say that. Not here, at least.

He hadn’t even been able to get a word in before he found himself hugged and clung to. These two were obviously happy drunks which Damon supposed was better than them being sad drunks or violent drunks. It seemed to be the lesser of two (three?) evils.

“Cut off, huh?” Damon asked, smiling slightly because he just had to. This was way better than Jersey Shore even if he was still a little worried about Elena and this mess she was in. She didn’t seem to mind, though. At least there was that.

“I think I’ll skip a drink tonight.” He thought it was a smart decision. He was the designated chaperone. If he were to get even tipsy... That would lead to all sorts of trouble, though probably not entirely unpleasant.

"Totally uncalled for." Crossing her arms over her chest, Elena sent a look at Elphaba, as if warning her to stay off of Damon. Where it came from, Elena really didn't know but she was too drunk to really consider it all that much. Besides, Damon was deciding not to drink and that was just sad! Looking to her 'chaperone' that she totally didn't need, Elena pouted.

"But, you should have a drink! They're good and they're good!" Yes, Elena did just repeat herself. But she was allowed given she wasn't in complete control of her thought patterns. All she knew was that drinks were good and Damon should have one. After all, he was dealing with the same stress as her, even if she were closer to Bonnie and Caroline than he was.

Yes, Elena had lost most of her maturity, but she was having fun, something that didn't seem to happen much anymore. There was St.Patrick's Day and then when she and Damon got drunk. Of course, his prank hadn't been all that funny. Making her think she had sex with him. That was just mean. Because she'd want to remember something like that. And where the hell did that thought come from!?

He couldn’t help but smile. Was Elena showing a twinge of jealousy? Yeah, that was more than a little amusing. Maybe they didn’t have to leave right away as Damon had originally planned. Staying for just a little while longer, having a little bit of fun couldn’t be that bad. Just as long as he was there to make sure that nothing disastrous came to pass they would all be alright.

“Nope, no drinks for Damon,” He gave a shrug. “When your vision starts to get blurry and you can’t walk a straight line, you’ll thank me.” He smirked.

"He's a meanie." Elphie said, crossing her arms over her chest. She caught the look Elena gave her, and she could only smile, or rather smirk, in response. Of course, she had no interest in Damon, she just was a bit of the physical type when drunk, apparently. She leaned back against a stool.

But it wasn't very long before her thoughts turned back to Galinda. Oh she was hopelessly in love with the blonde. She lowered her gaze to the floor, suddenly forgetting that there were other people around. She couldn't help but fall into a world of what if's and maybe's. But she knew better than to hope any of it could come true. Elphie knew what happened when she hoped for something. She usually just ended up with a broken heart.

Shaking her head, Elphie looked back up at Elena and Damon, and suddenly felt a little like the third wheel. A small smile crossed her face as she heard Damon talk about blurry vision. "So it's good I called you. Because I'd be a bad escort home."

And cue them talking about her not being able to get home. Sulking, Elena shook her head.

"I too can walk in a straight line!" She just apparently couldn't form a proper sentence and got her words mixed up, but that was totally irrelevant. Because the point was gotten across. Elena could walk in a straight line and she was going to prove that point in that instant. Jumping back from Damon and Elphaba, Elena started to walk. In a very not straight walk. Only to fall into Damon.

"Hi..." Flushing some, Elena stumbled to get up. Okay, so maybe she couldn't walk in a straight line, but that didn't mean Damon shouldn't have a drink! Just one wouldn't kill him! At least no one was really paying attention to the group, all engrossed in their own dramas and drinks.

Damon gave a nod, trying to look like he took Elena seriously. Really, there was no way she’d be able to make a straight line, but he’d act like he was honestly giving her a chance to prove her sobriety. When she took a tumble he instinctively leaned forward, but he hadn’t been expecting her to fall right into his arms. It was so perfect that it was almost choreographed. Damon wasn’t complaining. He was silent for a moment thinking how nice it would be to kiss her and try to forget that she was completely intoxicated, but managed an awkward smile as he set her on her feet once again.

“Hi,” He smirked, feeling like he should have thanked Elphaba for that moment.

The fact of the matter was, Elena was small. Which means that she really shouldn't have had so much to drink. But with depressing life stories being exchanged, it had just happened. The brunette hadn't been paying attention, which she really should have. But she was fine. Albeit a bit tired from the alcohol, but that was irrelevant. Because right now, she was transfixed by Damon's eyes. It wasn't that he was compelling her because he couldn't, nor did she think he would. He just, had really blue eyes.

"You have pretty eyes."

The words were said as Elena straightened up, though her eyes were still locked on Damon's. If she were sober, she never would have said that, she'd be mortified. But she was far from sober. But alcohol was an amazing truth serum. It got Elphie to admit her feelings for Galinda. And it got Elena to admit that she was attracted to Damon in her random comment about his eyes. But it was true! They were really blue and really transfixing.

She watched the exchange as Elena fell into Damon, and the subsequent staring into his eyes. Arching an eyebrow, she couldn't help but see just how bad Elena had it for the guy. Galinda had pointed it out to her a couple months prior, and ever since, she'd been keeping an eye out. Though it was also to find any fodder she could shoot back to Elena for all the crap she'd thrown at her about Galinda. And finally she had it. She smirked a bit wider.

Elphie remained silent, watching them both. Even though she was drunk, she would keep her mouth shut. After all, there would be a far better time to use this to her advantage than right now. Again, feeling very warm, Elphie used a technique Galinda had taught her, and she attempted to toss her hair over her shoulder. But of course because she'd never perfected the art of tossing her hair, and that she was drunk, it looked as though she was convulsing or something. Not being successful on tossing her long hair over her shoulder, she tried again, this time causing her to waver on her feet, almost losing her balance.

At the moment Damon was debating for how long after this event he would tease Elena. All in good fun, but ceaseless teasing nonetheless. He smiled at Elena and helped to straighten her out in the literal sense. He was afraid she might crumple into a drunken mess if he wasn’t there to lend support.

“I do have pretty eyes, don’t I?” He smirked. Elena was fun when she was drunk. Oh, she could be fun sober, too, but in a different way. This side of her rarely ever got out to play.

To be polite, he gave a smile in Elphie’s direction. He would have liked to focus on Elena, but he wasn’t so much of an asshole that he would ignore the witch beside them.

As Damon helped to straighten her up, Elena gave a small nod.

"Very pretty. Very blue." Well it was true. Thankfully, Elena was so drunk that she didn't realize how badly Damon was going to be mocking her for this incident. Or Elphie for that matter. Curse the alcohol, even if it made her more open to her own feelings that she tried to keep hidden even from herself because she didn't want to be like Katherine. It was just a tricky situation all around, but with the alcohol it was just, easy to give into her feelings.

Looking over at Elphie, the brunette quirked a brow.

"Are you okay? You're spastic...ing...." Did she just make up a word? Seemed that way. Moving away from the comfort of Damon's side, Elena went to Elphie and went to help her stop being spastic. Even If she wasn't exactly stable herself.

"You're going to be okay getting home, right?" While drunk, Elena was still worried about Elphie getting home. Because that was important. Very important.

Oh Elphie was going to have so much fun baiting Elena with this. Well, mostly the Damon-related things. Everything else was just between them as friends. But after the teasing Elena had done to her, turn about was fair play when used in the right way, of course.

And then Elena made up a word. She sounded like Galinda with that. "I'm good. Galinda taught me how to toss my hair when we were at school. But I don't do it as good as she does." And then a bit of a dreamy smile crossed her face, something that was extremely rare for the witch. "Then again, I think I was too busy staring at her rather than learning from her."

After a few moments, she shook her head a little and nodded. "Yeah. I got my broom. Shouldn't be too hard to get home that way." She grinned a bit, seemingly unaware of what she'd said about Galinda just moments before thanks to the amount of alcohol she'd consumed.

Hearing Elphie's confession, Elena just quirked a brow.

"I see, too busy staring to learn how to toss your hair. Do I even want to know?" But now Elena had to taunt Elphie. Or something. Because with that, the brunette decided to toss her hair. Why? Because Elphie had mentioned it. Of course, she wasn't all spastic like. She looked sane while doing it.

Of course, hearing Elphie say she was going to fly? Well, that didn't sound safe.

"Are you sure that's safe? What if you fall? You'd fall a lot. Maybe you should get a cab.." It would be safer, that was certain. And Elena was all about her friends' safety. Maybe not her own because she was stubborn in saying that she was fine. But that was completely irrelevant.

Elphie's mouth opened, then after a moment, shut again. Oh this wasn't going to bode well for her wanting to keep her feelings to herself. "Um...no, probably not." Because those kinds of details were best left between the parties directly involved with them. And Elphie really felt as though she was on the spot.

When Elena tossed her hair, Elphie could only watch, jaw dropping. "Why can't I toss my hair?" It came out more as a whine than anything. And then she followed it up with a pout.

"Of course it's safe. I've been flying for years, Elena. I can manage." Of course, she'd never actually flown drunk before, but that wasn't something that concerned her right now. "A cab? But the charm spell could wear off while I'm in the cab. I might freak out the driver if I suddenly go all green on him."

"I don't know?" After all, Elena didn't know why Elphie couldn't toss her hair. It was easy enough. At least to Elena. Then again, she didn't have crazy long hair. But it wasn't like Elena spent her time practicing hair tossing either. It was just.. a girl thing, or something. Elena didn't know. She was too drunk to really care.

Of course, Elphie saying she should fly drunk was just stupid.

"Right. Because flying drunk is smart. It's like drunk driving, which is not smart. You're supposed to be smart." Yes, Elena might be talking in circles but that was irrelevant. Looking to Damon for back up, Elena turned her attention to Elphie, pouting some.

“Absolutely, Elphie,” Damon spoke with mock enthusiasm, his face lighting up with a big smile. “Safe flying is important.” He was actually concerned for the witch’s well-being beneath his goofy surface. Damon liked her well enough not to see her in the form of a crumpled mess on the sidewalks or roadways of Kansas.

“Besides,” He gave a shrug. “I can compel the driver into forgetting her ever drove a green woman home.” Damon doubted that, in her state, Elena would complain much about his compelling random citizens of Lawrence.

Well, sure hair tossing was a girl thing, but Elphaba wasn't like other girls. She never had a reason to be girly. When she wasn't with Nessa, she'd always had her nose stuck in a book. Books didn't judge her like people did. Books didn't call her names. They allowed her to forget herself and learn things.

There was something to what Elena said. She was supposed to be smart. She generally was smart, except when she was drunk. She looked at Damon, then couldn't help but smile, something she'd also been doing a lot more of due to the alcohol. "You'd do that for me? Well, you're just like a big cuddly teddy bear! Or something!" She then grinned and moved to try and hug the guy again, of course forgetting all about Elena's earlier look of warning.

“A teddy bear,” He smiled although his tone suggested that he was less than pleased with being referred to as some cuddly little toy. It wasn’t the worst thing she could have called him. And she was drunk. And a witch. Damon was starting to see how forgetting she’d ever said it at all was his best option.

Even though he knew drunk!Elena might be a little possessive, Damon gave Elphaba a hug. In fact, he did it mostly because Elena was possessive. It was fun to toy with people every now and then, even people you cared about.

“Of course I’d do that for you.” He flashed his most charming smile. Oh, this was fun.

Elena had been about to step in front of Damon protectively to keep Elphie from hugging him. Of course, then Damon hugged Elphie and Elena just stared in shock. And the smile. What if Damon fell for Elphie?! That wasn't okay!

"Fine. I'll just go home on my own." With that, the intoxicated brunette stormed out of the pub. Sure, it was childish, but she was so completely wasted that she didn't care that she wasn't being mature. Her feelings were hurt.

Once outside, Elena tripped over her feet and winced. Trying to get up and failing, Elena just sulked and went to the wall and pulled her knees to her chest. This sucked.

Of course, Elphie had just been playing. She didn't get to be like this very often. Usually only when she was around Galinda, and even then it sometimes took some work getting her to just be free and cheerful. But when she saw Elena storm out, she couldn't help but frown a bit, of course knowing she must've crossed a line somewhere. Sometimes, her lack of people skills really did bite her in the ass.

"I'm sorry, you should probably go after her. I can get myself home. Don't worry, Damon." She gave him a little smile, looking at him for a moment before she made sure she had her phone and whatever else she'd come there with. Perhaps flying home would be a bad idea. She really was wary of calling a cab, so perhaps she'd just walk home. And apologize to Elena once she was sober.

Damon watched Elena’s dramatic exit. “Yeah,” He looked back to Elphie with an almost apologetic wince. “Get home carefully and... All of that.” He smiled a little. This witch wasn’t tough to be around like all of the others he had met over the course of his years.

He followed the path he’d seen Elena take, eyes searching the general area for her. The girl could barely manage to stand on her own inside of the bar. Outside of the bar was a much worse place to be as far as falling down went. More dangerous, to boot. He wasn’t about to leave Elena on her own out there.

“Elena?” He called at a lower volume so as to not look like a fool shouting some girl’s name. Damon lowered his gaze and found her slumped against the exterior of a building. “There you are,” He smiled a little and sunk, stooping down beside her.

She didn't know why it bothered her so much. It was stupid. Damon was just being nice. So what if he hugged her. She had hugged Damon all the time while she was with Stefan and it had been friends. Damn rational thoughts. They were seriously messing with her drunken craziness.

Hearing Damon's words, Elena looked up and shifted so he could get comfortable before she leaned against the elder Salvatore brother.

"Tired." It was the first thing that came to mind. And after all she had had to drink? She was getting tired. Even so, it didn't matter. Because Damon was falling for Elphie. And Elena would be left in the wayside. Maybe that was her punishment for being like Katherine. To be alone.

Adjusting his position, Damon took a seat next to Elena. That was the thing with alcohol - It could lift your mood and make you a little crazy, but eventually there was an inevitable crash. He did nothing to fight against the slow dissolving of her alcohol high. Instead he ran his fingers through her hair, stroking her arm in a way that seemed too gentle for him. He chose to ignore the few people that passed the two of them by. Right then it was just him and Elena.

“I’m tired, too.” He sighed and leaned his head back against the brick wall to rest it.

The motion might seem too gentle for Damon, but Elena knew that there was a part of him that he didn't let anyone see but somehow he let Elena see it. He did things for her without her asking, he got her another teddy bear, he came for her when she was ridiculously drunk. She didn't like the crash of the alcohol, though. Usually she was passed out by this point so she never really experienced it.

"I'm sorry you had to come out for me if you're tired...." Of course, Elena's comment on being tired had more than one meaning. She wasn't just physically tired. She was emotionally tired. Tired of worrying. Tired of avoiding. So she wasn't going to avoid, even if she didn't remember in the morning.

Shifting some, Elena kissed Damon and smiled some.

"But thank you for coming for me anyway." With that, the brunette settled against the vampire, closing her eyes. She was exhausted. So very exhausted from everything and now that she hadn't denied her feelings, she was finally able to sleep. The next morning would be hell, but the outing had been necessary. She had gotten out of her headspace for a little while. True it was coming back, but that was why she slept. To avoid it.

After making sure she had everything, Elphie made her way out of the bar and started walking back home. She didn't walk in a straight line whatsoever and she did stumble, but she managed to stay on her feet. Well, for the most part. She tripped over herself and fell down, cursing softly as the sidewalk hurt. She looked at her hands, making sure they weren't cut or bleeding in any way. And just then the spell wore off. Eyes going wide with fear, Elphie forgot about being drunk and uncoordinated. She got to her feet and bolted for the nearest non-populated place where she could keep out of sight from people.

As she ran, she used her hair to hide her face and she tucked her hands under her arms. Luckily she'd worn longsleeves and jeans, so no other skin was exposed. She managed to find a quiet park not that far away and she took refuge in some bushes. She sat down, though it was more like falling down. Oh this was just her luck, to be caught out in public and turn green again while intoxicated.

"Stupid," she chastized herself under her breath. She knew she should've watched the time more closely. Closing her eyes, she pressed a hand over her face as the emotions started to come one after another. So this is what alcohol did, cause emotions to come out uncontrollable? And Elphie had actually confessed her secret feelings for Galinda. Oh this was bad. Very bad. Nothing good was going to come of this.

As far as she'd come as a person in this world, she still had yet to really get past her serious self-esteem issues. She tried not to break down, but the alcohol had killed her inhibitions. Tears started running down her cheeks. But she couldn't lose it here. Sniffing and swiping the tears away, she glanced around, saw no one was around, and made her way back home. It took a while, but she managed to not run into anyone on the way home. She crept in the front door, wondering if Galinda was still awake.

She spotted the blonde asleep on the couch. A sad little smile crossed her face as she made her way over to the couch. She bumped into the coffee table, grunting slightly at the pain in her shin. She got over to the couch, shifted Galinda enough to make room for herself and laid down. Elphie spent a few moments gazing at Galinda before closing her eyes. She loved her, but she knew better than to wish she could be loved in return. So she'd have to settle for having it in the dreamworld.

Damon was still as a calm lake, not pulling away or even leaning in closer like he thought he should. He felt his lips move so that he had returned the gesture, not just sitting there like some kind of mannequin. This was certainly an unexpected turn of events. He smiled a little, finally reaching up to brush her cheek with his fingertips.

Of course she would be falling asleep. He wanted more, but wasn’t going to wake her up. She looked so peaceful and he figured that she deserved a little peace and quiet after all that had happened with her. Damon figured he’d give her a moment before carrying her back to the apartment, only mildly worried about how he would look toting an unconscious girl back to his place.

When Damon had brushed her cheeks with his fingertips, Elena had leaned into the touch before she had shifted to fall asleep against him. She didn't know why this felt right, it just did. That, and Damon was very comfortable. Even when he started to move.

Mumbling in her sleep as she was picked up, Elena wrapped her arms around Damon's neck, after briefly waking up from the movement, resting her head on his shoulder. She wasn't thinking about how this would look but it was late so there probably wouldn't be too many people out anyway. Not that she cared. She was avoiding the depressing thoughts that were threatening to overwhelm her alcohol induced mind by falling back asleep. She liked Damon's arms, they were comforting.
