Who: Kitty Pryde and Mike Chang
What: They need to talk.
When: After Mike's arrival and testing to be sure he's human.
Where: Secluded area around the back of camp.
Warnings: None yet?

There was way too much happening all at once. Kitty wasn't sure how this was all happening, all she knew was that people were back and they were really themselves. Mike was back, Elliot was back, and that was just scratching the surface. Mike was the big one that the diminutive mutant was focused on. It had been hard to deal with everything when he had died; Kitty had been really upset, but she had picked herself up and she had moved on. Now he was back, though. Mike was back, but this was a really cruel joke. He didn't remember her. He didn't know who she was. When Kitty had read that...it had hurt her. She hadn't been prepared to hear that. Just seeing that he'd posted on the communication board had caused her to feel all of her emotions from losing him hit her at once, but there'd been hope too.

If it weren't for Hardison Kitty might have taken off, but he was right. She needed to stay here and face this, she had to deal with it. It could be a new chance. She was still the same person and he had to be the person that he was.Maybe they could start over, but Kitty was trying not to get her hopes up. She didn't want to be let down completely. He'd mentioned Tina, which had to mean that she was still a part of his mind at the moment. As upsetting as it might be, Mike and Kitty might not get the chance to start over either. Either way they had to talk.

She wasn't going to back out, even though half of her wanted to. She showed up to the little secluded spot that she had told him she'd be at. She showed up early, even. Being early was not a great idea, though. It left her time to pace. Kitty couldn't seem to stand still. She hadn't been one for dancing in some time, but she did work out some and keep herself from forgetting anything. No one ever knew when they might need to defend themselves anymore. It was only through sheer will that she kept herself from fidgeting with her blue hoodie or anything else. Kitty finally managed to stop in one place and look around, waiting to see that familiar figure that had come back.

Kitty had always been stronger than she had looked. She had always been tiny, but within her small form there was not only a fighter, but a brain as well. When push came to shove, Kitty was someone that you could count on. She had been a superhero in her own world before she had been brought here. Of course she'd been part of a team, but she had always been dependable. It had only grown over time.

Blinking at his words, Kitty gave him a small smile. "That's sweet, it really is, Mike." Kitty couldn't help it. She, impulsively, turned toward him a little and gave him a half hug. It only took her a second to realize what she'd done and pull back, her cheeks getting a little pink. "Sorry."

He hadn't expected the hug. Mike could never be confused for a guy that could see this coming because he was as far from being fluent in girlspeak or actions. Maybe he should have, but he didn't so it wasn't a surprise when he tensed up at the unexpected hug.

Just as he was about to return the hug awkwardly, she pulled away and left his arm hanging mid-move. Aborting the move with a cough, he smiled and shrugged. "Don't worry about it. I didn't mind."

Kitty didn't want to make things too complicated for Mike. She didn't want to make it difficult for him to figure things out. She wasn't going to force him to be the person that she remembered. That didn't mean they couldn't be friends, though. She still shouldn't have hugged him.

Smiling a little bit, Kitty nodded. "Thanks for coming to talk to me. I do appreciate it. I'm not going to be talking to you about your....alternate self, though. I'm here if you need a friend or anything." She meant it, it was hard, but she meant it. That was the thing about her and Mike, they had become friends first. Kitty was always a good friend. Swallowing, Kitty stretched her legs out some, wishing that this weren't hard. Anything worth doing could sometimes be hard, though. "Did you get the grand tour of the camp already? Do you need anything"

"I'd like that. Friends is cool with me," he said, nodding and smiling a little more genuinely. He felt a huge pressure lift off his shoulders, as if her words had released him from the physical manifestation of his worries. For a crazy second there, he thought that maybe this girl would want more from him. He was gladly proven wrong.

Scratching his chin, he said, "No, I'm good. The gave me the tour before I came here. I know where I sleep and I know where I get food. I should be good." Until he finally acclimated and wanted to learn how to fight zombies. But he'd probably go find Puck to learn that. Standing, he offered her a hand up. "It was nice meeting you, Kitty."

Kitty just had to remind herself that friends was better than nothing. "Good. Because I'd rather have you as my friend than not around at all." The diminutive mutant was always an honest person like that, even after all of this time. She didn't want to force him into something that he wasn't open to. The future him had been over Tina, the person sitting next to her, hadn't been stuck in the apocalypse long. At least he was alive.

"Good, that means you're pretty much set." Kitty didn't figure that Mike would want to acclimate himself to fighting. She didn't fight unless she had to, but she knew how. Kitty took Mike's hand when he offered it, pulling herself up. "Thanks." Letting go of his hand, Kitty found herself looking up at Mike. "It was nice seeing you." She forced a light smile, even though it was hard she knew she had to be doing the right thing.

He felt bad for her, he really did, but his heart and mind still belonged to Tina Cohen-Chang. It didn't matter that it was likely that he would never see her again because he had yet to accept that and move on. Maybe, one day in the future, he could do it, but a week ago he was holding her and convinced that he was in love with her. You didn't move on from that instantly, no matter what.

Mike was just thankful that Kitty seemed to understand that. It didn't make him feel any less bad for her, but it was something.

Hesitating only a second, he gave her a small smile and clapped her shoulder. "Maybe we could start offering dance lessons together, yeah? Since it was obviously a winning combination." He had no real idea if that was true, but he hated seeing people sad and he would need something to do in this world. He was by no means trying to take over the other Mike Chang's role in this community, but if something worked, it was worth a shot.

Kitty would be okay eventually. Time was supposed to heal all, wasn't it? Besides, Kitty had good friends that were there for her. She also had plenty of things to keep her busy. She'd find ways to keep her from dwelling on this. It wasn't like anything had changed. Her Mike was dead, this was a different and younger Mike that didn't know her. She just had to remember that much, though Kitty wasn't sure that would make it any easier.

It wasn't hard for Kitty to understand Mike was in over his head with things here. It didn't help things, but she was aware. Sometimes logic and the brain...they didn't really help when it came to emotions or the heart.

Kitty gave a light smile and looked at him, feeling his hand on her shoulder. Sucking in a breath Kitty nodded, "I'd actually like that. Dancing can be therapeutic and helpful in a time like this. Definitely be good for me." Kitty joked a little bit, nodding. "I have to warn you, though. I'm pretty damn good." It was easier to try and make things light.

"Don't worry, I've been told I'm not half bad either," he joked, smiling down at her before tucking his hands into his hoodie. Scuffing the ground with his new (old) sneakers, he said, "Maybe we can start working together tomorrow? And see how it goes from there?"

He was actually looking forward to having something to keep his mind off what was going on here. Just because he had been told about the zombies and being on the losing side of the apocalypse and looked okay, didn't mean he wasn't freaking out over everything he was seeing and hearing.

It was all that he could do to not go hide under a bed and hope to wake up from this nightmare.

Dancing would be good, not just for Kitty, but for Mike as well.
