Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:dawn summers, fred burkle, glory, hera agathon (npc), sharon "athena" agathon, tim wayne/robin

Who: Sharon, Hera & Open to Dr. Saunders, Tara, Tim, Dawn, Ben/Glory and anyone else still at the apartment
What: Babysitting
When: During the Spike-rescue
Where: The apartment complex, medical wing
Rating: PG-13 at least
Note: Feel free to make sub threads!

She wanted to go on the rescue, she did. But Sharon wasn't willing to have her little girl behind in a strange apartment complex. Yes, there was Caprica and Baltar, and apparently future-her knew Balter could be trusted on some level, but Sharon herself wasn't here yet. Plus, if something happened to her, there was no one here that she would want to raise her little girl. So, instead, she'd collected Hera and some of her toys, and then started rounding people down into the medical ward.

Sharon was in full military uniform and armed with her guns. Hera was playing on the floor, with Athena sitting behind her, leaning over slightly. Every now and then Hera would reach up to play with Sharon's dog tags while she drew.

Her eyes flicked back and forth between her daughter, and those who were now on the medical bay beds. She had the doors locked so they couldn't get out, but still, having Hera in here with them made Athena wary. Not that she didn't think she could protect her daughter, but if they got violent hear her, she'd shoot if hse had to. Somehow she didn't think that would go over well.

But there were other people in here as well, so she wasn't the only one who had to control them.

The child's wave and voice brought an even more genuine smile to her face. It reminded her of the time when she'd first joined Angel and his friends, when Connor had been an infant and everyone wanted to help care for him. To just be near pure innocence in the middle of bloodshed, violence, prophecies, and enemies. For a moment, she even wondered what it would have been like if she and Wesley had had the chance to settle down, have one of their own.

She mentally waved the thought off, not wanting to dwell on something like that at a time like this. "Hey sweetie," she said quietly before turning to regard the new arrival. Tim, if she remembered correctly. When Dawn arrived, she was relieved when Claire pointed them towards the office and the DVD player. That was something they couldn't get into too much trouble with.

Pulling the crossbow into her lap, she started to inspect the mechanism for what felt like the millionth time when someone unfamiliar arrived. Ben. The one with donuts and coffee. She started to try and explain that going outside wasn't a good idea for Dawn when Sharon spoke up first. The upside to everyone focused on the same task.

"I don't mind either, if need be," she said, glancing back to Ben. "One way or another, it'll get inside."

Finally Dawn was beside him, and he let his fingers lace with hers protectively as she went to hold his hand. Public affection wasn't something he was typically good at, but for Dawn he was willing to give it a shot and didn't even have anything snarky to say about it this time. "C'mon. Don't worry about it. They said they can handle the donuts. " He mused with a bit of humor at her as he gave Dawn's hand a light affectionate squeeze and looked over at Fred with his own nod of recognition. He didn't really feel comfortable in the med bay, but it wasn't about him. It was about making sure his girlfriend was safe while the others were hunting. For her sake he hoped they got her and put an end to it quickly.

Ben wasn't someone he recognized as he saw the man enter with donuts and coffee and his eyes instantly narrowed suspiciously as he looked him over. He'd never seen him before, spare maybe a post or two on the boards Tim didn't know what to say to so he just nodded a greeting at him once he asked Dawn for help. Apparently he was one of her friends so Tim supposed he could at least try to be civil and not leap to distrust. With his training and boss king of paranoia land it was hard. There was a tiny voice in the back of his head that said he should trust his instincts, but he didn't make a move. Tim didn't say much otherwise in the presence of the group, he just kept half an eye on his girlfriend and then looked over at the woman and her daughter. She was following Buffy's orders which meant she was okay in his book. Then Fred offered too, and Tim just listened. Mentally noting that they both had done what Buffy asked, and that made him feel more comfortable around them.

"Lets set up the movie." He offered Dawn and nudged her toward the office where they were pointed toward a dvd player and t.v.

He didn't like this many people. Not at all, it wasn't right, it made things harder. He'd have to let her free, and he really didn't want to have to do that. It would be so much worse if he had to do that. So instead he tried again. Tried the nice approach knowing just how much worse the alternative was. No one would get hurt his way. If she'd just come with him. If that woman with the gun stopped staring. If the others got out of his way. If he could be more persuasive. Anything. He wasn't very good at any of this.

"I want to talk to her though. Buffy she said, she wanted me to run some things by..."

He was bad at this. Lying in front of so many. The woman with the gun in particular. The gun and the child. A child. He didn't want to let Glory out with a child. But she told him she wouldn't go for the child. She'd just grab Dawn. Grab her and run. That was okay wasn't it. He could believe that cause she needed him. He moved across the room still keeping casual and as soon as he reached her, her and the boy holding her hand. The boyfriend he expected...

He let Glory free.

Shaking out her hair the god smirked.

"Dawnie. You could have made this easy. You could have made this so much easier by going with Gentle Ben. But oh no, no oh no. You had to be sensible. Listen to your sister or whatever. But fine. Do it the hard way. Either way? You bleed today. I'm sick of waiting."

[ooc-i'm not going to include dr saunders in this post, 'cause i don't think she's really needed at the moment, if that's okay]

When Ben showed up just a few minutes later, she smiled welcomingly to him. "Hey Ben! Thanks for bringing that stuff." When he asked for her help, she started to move towards him, but stopped when Sharon said she had to stay there. She gave a slightly annoyed look-it was only Ben, and Glory wasn't there. She was hopefully getting her ass kicked by Buffy at the moment. But then both Sharon and Fred both offered to help instead, and she gave a shrug.

Dawn glanced to Tim when he said for them to head for the office, and she nodded. "Yeah..." Her voice trailed off as Ben said she needed to talk to her, and her bright blue eyes flickered back over to him. He sounded-and looked-kinda weird, and she tilted her head in concern as he walked towards her.

"Um, Ben? Are you okay?"

Suddenly, Glory was in his place, and she blinked in confusion, before her eyes widened suddenly. A scream erupted from her as she let go of Tim's hand and tried to run for the door. She knew, though, that she'd never make it.

All her training over the past month momentarily flew out of her mind.

The firm glare on Sharon's face said the Dawn was not going anywhere, not as long as she was standing, and that was all there was to it. Though she would help with the coffee. "Go sit in the chair over there, sweetie, mom will be r-" when she heard the scream, Athena immediately drew her gun and was standing infront of Hera.

They were close, but not close enough that Sharon couldn't shoot. She didn't think that the gun would do any good, but she had to try something. Weapon raised, she opened fire on the hell god as she walked toward her, taking each shot very carefully so as not to aim at anyone else.

The god was stronger, but Sharon was still stronger than the average human, she could still maybe land a few blows, enough for Dawn to run. "Dawn get out of here, and stay hidden!" they could find her later.

So Ben was Glory. They were the same damn person. How the hell had everyone from his world missed that little fact? The cylon kept walking forward, gunfire still going off. Not that it was having an effect besides ruining the clothes. But it was hopefully a distraction, something, anything to keep the gods attention on only Sharon.

Fred was ready to shoo Dawn off with Tim if she protested either her or Sharon lending Ben a hand instead of her. She'd promised Buffy she would keep on eye on her sister and that was what she intended to do. Letting her go outside was not on the menu. She rose from her spot, brushing off her jeans. "She would have sa-"

Then suddenly, where Ben had once stood, now stood Glory. The enemy was in the complex, in the same room as the one thing she was looking for. She stood frozen for a moment that seemed to last forever and seconds at the same time. Then reality snapped back as Dawn screamed.

"Go!" she shouted to Dawn. Following Sharon's lead, she loaded a bolt in the crossbow and took aim for Glory, pulling the trigger. It wouldn't kill her, but any distraction they could throw at her would help. She hoped.

Ben kept trying to make excuses to bring Dawn outside, and Tim could only glare. Buffy said no. They weren't eachothers favorite person, but if she said something Tim was learning to accept that it was for a good reason. She honestly hadn't given him any reason what soever to doubt her, it was just the fact that he was dating her little sister that he found her horribly intimidating. Still there was respect there for her and her ass kicking abilities and those who followed the orders she gave. So Ben wasn't earning himself any points in Tim's book by trying to skirt around Buffy's orders.

Then Dawn was screaming and broke free from his hand. His first move was to step beside Sharon and Fred, blocking the spot in which Dawn had run to hide in. If Glory wanted to get to Dawn she'd have to go through him. Two sharp batterangs slid down from his long sleeve shirt into his hands and he held them in a fighting position.

Tim only took his eyes off the hellgod for half a second to look around. "Where'd that guy go?!" He didn't see anything. His intense glare landed back on Glory.

Guns. Crossbows! That would really have hurt Ben if he was still in control. As it was it was just annoying. Glory glared at the two women in question and pulled Dawn further back toward the door. She wasn't a demon and didn't care about all their silly spells and protection.

"Look. I can break you all apart or you can give me my Key. That's your choice...or..."

Her eyes fell on the girl, the little girl behind her mother. They'd have to protect her too. They'd have to make a choice. Glory moved faster than they could see, starting toward Hera but really making for Dawn. Oh this would be too easy. She was too strong, too fast. Too amazing really to be stopped by mortals. And Dawn would come with her, and she'd bleed.

At the appropriate moment she pushed past sending them flying as she shoved with her strength and grabbed Dawn by the shoulder.

"I said. You should have come with me"
