a next gen fairy tale experience | ||
Once upon a time, in a kingdom far far away---oh wait, you've heard this one before? That's no surprise. We all grew up with fairy tales. And these stories of dastardly witches and wizards, of beautiful princes and princesses and crafty fairy folk are just that---stories. But what if they're not? What if, in an actual kingdom that was further away than you could ever imagine to get to, there were people living out the tales you heard every night before bed? And what if their mothers and fathers told stories of far off lands much like our own world? They probably wouldn't believe that this place exists, just as we couldn't fathom that there's a world where Cinderella really met her Prince Charming, and true love's kiss could really wake a sleeping beauty from a deathlike sleep. But that place does exist. In a world parallel to ours, in a place that no magic but what we cast in our dreams could get us to, the characters of these fairy tales are real; living and breathing but slowly fading away. Yes, that world is waning and all because the one thing that fuels it and keeps its residents alive is in short supply. That one thing is belief. And as our belief in the magical fades away, so will all that is magical. But there is hope. There is a family who, through ancient magic, has always been able to travel to and communicate with the other world. No one has ever been able to explain why the two sons of Grimm were connected to the land of fairy tales and enchantment. But it has been this way since before Jacob and Wilhelm began recording the stories of things they knew and heard from far far away. In their descendants, Rolf and Edwin Grimm, who have inherited this magnificent ability, lays the only hope for the people of the fairy tale world. Even Further Away is a social, thread based rp game set at a fictional Grimm Academy where the children of popular fairy tale characters have come to live because their world is dying. Descendants of the famous Brothers Grimm have found a way, through limited magic, to bring the next generation [ie Snow White's children etc] to our world in order to save them from theirs. Because the land of fairy tales is so different from our own, a boarding academy has been founded by the brothers so that these children can smoothly transition, and learn about the ways of our world in order to survive in it. The game will center around the students, their lives at the academy, and their interactions with each other all pushed along by some zany subplot. |

On June 28th of 2008, a broadcast was made on every television set across the globe. X-Project is an X-Men movieverse RPG on Livejournal. Set after X2, we've been running since May 5, 2003 and use a combination of in-character journals and email/IM logs. Be it classic superhero adventures, high school drama, dark and gritty spy games or interpersonal relationships, X-Project caters to everyone.
X-Project is currently focusing our advertising towards filling some of our unplayed characters and available NPCs. We will still look at applications for new characters, but our preference is for applications for socks. To help give you an idea of each character's history, we have a series of "cards" for each available character/NPC.
We also highly encourage readers - if you're looking for X-Men based entertainment, X-Project welcomes you to read along and enjoy the ride!
Peace has reigned in the city of Excelsior for sixteen years - the war between the superpowered forces of good and evil at an end, its soldiers living in quiet retirement. With their capes and spandex gathering dust in various closets, they've settled down, gotten normal jobs, and started families. It's more common to see a hero and his former archnemesis golfing together on a sunny day than fighting in the streets, in 2010. Their superhuman abilities have been passed on to their children, most of whom are too young to remember the glory days. Growing up in a world of peace, school and their friends have dominated their lives. There hasn't been any reason to distinguish themselves as heroes and villains. Yet. |

The Xavier Institute was formed over fifty years ago by a man named Charles Xavier. He wanted to shelter young mutants from the hatred they would face in the world outside, while he trained them to control their powers and use them for the benefit of mankind. Ten years ago Xavier left and joined his beloved Lilandra in the Shi'ar Empire and he left Ororo Munroe, Logan, and Scott Summers in charge of the school. Everything seemed to be going well, but only five years after his departure humanity started it's war against mutants by launching the sentinel project. War raged for five long years between humanity and mutants; the sentinels destroyed half the planet in their search for mutants.
In the end they began to hunt down humans as well, in hopes of capturing the mutants the humans knew. When this began humanity realized their mistake and they sided with the mutants in bringing down the machines. The war has been over for seven months, and the world is slowly being rebuilt. The Xavier Institute is the center of the new world; mutants are coming by the hundreds to this safe haven they have found. Humans are welcome at the Institute as well.
After the final battle Magneto changed his tune about humanity. He moved into the Institute and became it's new found leader. With his guidance the school is slowly being rebuilt and students are moving in by the hundreds. There is a new threat on the horizon though, and the students' studies must be put to the side for the time being, so their training can begin. Apocalypse has been found and Mystique is trying to awaken him. The X-Men know that she must be stopped at all costs, so another war begins..

Seattle, WA 2022 Here in post-Pulse Seattle, my home, my friends, and my family are under fire. See, I was cooked up in a gene-splicing lab by an outfit called Manticore. They trained us to be soldiers, but really, we were slaves. Just over a year ago, I torched the place and set everybody free--let them out into the world. Government's been trying to catch us ever since. The public is afraid; we are hunted, hated, and living in fear. Thank God for Logan. Even though we can't be together, on account of this virus Manticore put in me because they want him dead--long story, don't ask--he's still there for me, and he's helping me figure out what this black-ops government guy in charge of hunting me down is really up to. Turns out he's part of some weird ancient cult dealio--several thousand years of selective breeding, so they got some pretty nasty tricks up their sleeves. For some reason, they want me dead in a big way, and I've got a bad feeling they're not going to give up until they get what they want. |
