Avengers still fly through the skies as the Earth's Mightiest Heroes. X-Men still protect a world that fears and hates them. At first glance, it's the same, comfortable world where the impossible is possible. Except... ... most of the familiar faces are older. They've slowly stepped back from the arduous duties of being superheroes. As they have, the next generation of heroes have stepped forward to take up the mantle. A Spider still swings through the New York skyline, but it's Peter Parker's daughter saving the city now. Captain Marvel has taken the lead of the young Avengers, but that title belongs to the cosmically-powered son of the universe's greatest sidekick. A Summers still takes the lead for those that wear the X, but it's the rare, non-time displaced daughter of mythological giants. Marvel: Nextgen is a collaborative role-playing game and interactive, on-going fictional story. It is carried out in a play-by-post RPG style on Livejournal. The game is loosely based on Marvel Comics canon after 1988. It is primarily an Original Character driven game, but canon characters are also welcome.

	Three years of relative peace have passed. The boys graduated from Spenser Academy and looked into colleges around the world. They always came home between semesters and over summers. This break though, Caleb has a feeling that something’s wrong. That something’s coming. And he’s right. Three years ago, he defeated Chase Collins at the former site of Putnam Barn. The barn was destroyed by the resulting fire, and no body was ever found. New York City boasts nearly 8.5 million people, its key demographics being population density and cultural diversity. From The Bronx to Staten Island and everywhere in between, there exists a bustling world of taxi cab drivers, homeless people, bigshot CEO's, stay-at-home moms, and millions of others in almost any walk of life you can imagine. While the city consists of an astonishingly wide variety of people, they are all united as 'New Yorkers', all calling 'The Capital of the World' their home. In a city so large that it's impossible to meet every person on your block, the technologies of the 21st Century and those things we like to call 'blogging sites' have really come in handy in further uniting the people of New York. This community of blogs provides a place for New Yorkers to interact with other New Yorkers from any and all parts of the city without having to take a taxi or survive the crowded metro. But, wait! What about the people of New York who aren't the type to blog or the ones who don't even have access to the internet? Here, at demographics, we welcome any sort of character you might find in The Empire State, and thus we accept those who do their bidding online as well as those who do it in person. It’s supposed to be the golden age of England. Harriet Jones leading the way. But she isn’t. Rumors of her ill health have made the citizens uneasy. In comes the man of the hour, Harold Saxon. He’s brilliant, charming and just so… good. The world looks to him to take a larger role in politics. And he’s not one to disappoint. He’s running for Prime Minister and most everyone are just counting the days. Those few who aren’t enthralled with his amazing greatness are too few to really matter. Everyone knows who will win the election and Harold Saxon promises he will change the world.



Welcome to Year of Paradox.

The game will start as Saxon is running for Prime Minister. His winning the election is fixed (will happen in game) as is his taking over the Earth. Anything after that is free form. The implementation of the paradox machine will make unexpected ripples, affecting the rift in Cardiff in an unusual way. As such the rift will be bringing through people two months before the activation of the paradox and a month or so after the activation. There will be no new arrivals after two months after the activation of paradox. New characters from other places may be brought in game but they would have been ‘off screen’ and on the Earth during that time.

This tear in the rift means that people can bring in characters from realities other than Doctor Who or Torchwood. They can even bring in future characters and OC’s. However, we will be limiting the genre’s involved. This is mostly so we can make sure that the feeling of the game remains. No character should be able to easily deal with the Toclafane. They are the major threat in the game and should be dealt with as such. WE have a tentative listing of genre’s but if you want to play someone from one not listed, contact a mod with some information on the genre and we will consider whether or not the character will be allowed.

This game is a dark adult RPG. There will be death, violence and other adult concepts. While some posts may be lighthearted, we ask that any R posts be friend-locked. Also, as mentioned there will be death, a lot of death. Your character may die, especially high risk characters (IE Torchwood, or people the master is looking for.) and characters that engage in high risk behavior. (IE attacking the Toclafane, being known for going against the Master) Also we ask that everyone consider making a character that they know will die. (Especially for the huge 10% death attack). It would be nice to have characters that other characters actually care about die in the game. We are going for a realistic dark world under the control of the Master and his Toclafane.

Open yourself up to joy. William McKinley High School. In 1993, the Glee Club had just won Nationals. They had the world at their feet. They ruled the school. They couldn't have been considered cooler. But now, it's 2009 and they haven't won anything for a very long time. And it's been a long time since the Glee Club was considered anything close to "cool." Now they're the bottom of the heap, the misfits of the school. No one has faith in them at all...but one man: Spanish teacher, Will Schuester. He basked in the glow of the '93 Glee Club and wants to return it to its former glory. Unfortunately, there are dark forces plotting against this grand scheme...namely, cheerleaders. Will the "gleeks" triumph or crash and burn? Only time will tell... new_directions is the oldest Glee RPG on IJ and has been open for play since September. We've still got some canon characters open, and also accept OCs (students, teachers, anything that you can think of to fit in the setting.) The application is fairly simple.
