PROLOGUE

You wake up one morning with a headache, you wonder if you're hung-over but you didn't drink anything last night so that can't be it and after taking a painkiller and heading to work you forget all about it. A few days later you think you back to your childhood and there's a memory that doesn't fit, it doesn't make sense and you try not to think about it because it sets you and edge and makes you feel uncomfortable.

It doesn't stop.

Maybe weeks go by, or maybe it's months, and someone turns up on your doorstep. Maybe they look official, or they're wearing jeans and a T-Shirt, but they introduce themselves and tell you that they're from something called 'The Agency', they sit you down and if you're lucky they'll make you a cup of tea or pour you a drink before explaining it all to you.

The memories are real, but they're someone else's, someone you always thought of as fictional. You're what they call a reincarnate, someone who's been reincarnated from this fictional person, brought into this world with magic that no one yet understands.

They talk about a war that's being fought between two sides of reincarnates, the good and the bad. You're not told what side to pick or that you need to, but you know that a day will come when you and the person you were and are possibly becoming will need to choose.

The City of Sin is a plot driven supernatural game which will give every player the chance to have a say in the overarching plot of the game. It is a dark and gritty game which centers around a war between three large groups and takes place in a futuristic world where demons, vampires and werewolves rule like royalty.

There are many, many plot centric characters desperately wanted. For instance Aislyn and Nicoli of the Elari. A couple who have recently married despite their romantic entanglements to their third partner - Lilith. Currently it is unsure whether the marriage is due to love or a play for more power. Then of course there is the Watch. A group who is intent on saving the remaining humans. Pitched against the scarily powerful Elari and Raidan to most it looks like the Watch are way out of their league, though that doesn't stop them trying. Finally there is the Raidan, newly arrived in Las Vegas they've got death and destruction on their agenda - but is that all?

All in all CoS needs you to make it something great. The war is just beginning and I can promise you that you will have a good, no great time here. There are some fantastic writers, some very creative minds and in all honesty? I haven't felt so inspired in a long time. If you're looking for a plot driven game, somewhere your characters can grow and explore facets of their personality and try new things then City of Sin is for you. If you like games which don't limit you, which allow all types of storylines then this the place for you. So, I urge you to at least check us out, you won't be disappointed, I promise.

PREMISE
1979
A prophecy is foretold: The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches...Born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies...And the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not....

1981
Lord Voldemort attempted to attack Godric's Hollow to prevent the prophecy from being fulfilled; but, when the Order was tipped off about his plan, they were able to warn the Potters before Lord Voldemort could get to them. Instead, Lord Voldemort found himself face to face with Albus Dumbledore when he arrived at the village. Lord Voldemort, refusing to lose, lashed out with a violent curse that severely wounded both himself and Dumbledore. But when the attack did not kill the older wizard, the weakened Dark Lord ordered a mysterious lurker to finish off Dumbledore.

With Albus Dumbledore gone, the Wizarding World waited with baited breath for Lord Voldemort to rise to power. Months passed and there was no sign of the Dark Lord's return. Rumors of his death spread like a wildfire and many attempted to gain back what they had lost to fear. Only the Order of the Phoenix remained suspicious and vigilant.

1983
Many have started to regain the lost normalcy in their lives. Nevertheless, unbeknownst to the peace-seeking Wizarding World, a devious plot has been set into motion; one that will tear down the foundation of Wizardry and bring about the second war.

[info]theblood Lucius had eight beautiful children. Born when the roman gods were still the prominent figures in the roman religion, Lucius went from the son of a farmer to a warrior, a solider of the empire and then from human to vampire. His own sire had chosen him for his strength, his bravery and his wisdom and like his eight beautiful children, he became part of a family with a brother and sister and a sire. They would be the start of the reign, their children and their children’s children would create the great family that they would become. When Lucius’s sire chose to sleep, Lucius began his own family of men and women, his collection of people he loved and wanted to keep. Eight beautiful children that he would call his own until the day he died. The four men and four women were of different ages, races and even sexualities. His love for them ranged from sexual to possession, some of them were turned willingly and some he simply took but his love for each was as equal. The family grew as he travelled through time and across the world and he kept his children close, insisting they saw each other as siblings and for the most part this worked. But Lucius’s nights were numbered and in the winter of 2009, Lucius was killed by a hunter leaving the family fatherless and unsure of what their future held.

The family now reside in a pent house in New York City. While they aren’t your typical family, all of the members, from the elders to the children are close and while they don’t necessarily always live within the pent house (in fear of arguments and deaths occurring) it is the hub of their activities and also the resting place of the father, the vampire that first started the blood line. By day, the vampires are nothing but memories and bodies left to rest but by night, they walk the streets of New York City, mingling with humans and even feeding from them. They try their best to remain invisible and unnoticed but with hunters now lurking around every corner, it is uncertain just how long they can all stay hidden...

"….Voldemort's powerful now. You don't know who his supporters are, you don't know who's working for him and who isn't; you know he can control people so that they do terrible things without being able stop themselves. You're scared for yourself, and your family, and your friends. Every week, news comes of more deaths, more disappearances, more torturing … The Ministry of Magic's in disarray, they don't know what to do, they're trying to keep everything hidden from the Muggles, but meanwhile, Muggles are dying too. Terror everywhere … panic … confusion …"

Across Europe the Wizarding Community lies in fear. Voldemort and his followers are on the rise, leaving behind a reign of terror in their wake. As his numbers increase, Wizards begins to grow more uneasy, increasingly choosing to fall prey to his Empire, out of fear, unwilling to stand up and fight.

In spite of the increasing danger, a small group of vigilante Wizards have begun a rebellion, daring to do what the Ministry fears to do; fight. The Order of the Phoenix is slowly growing into a force to be reckoned with, threatening not only Voldemort, but the Ministry itself.

Change is on the brink for the students of Hogwarts. No longer will they be safe behind the confines of the castle, unaware to the real dangers of the world. They will soon be forced to make their own loyalties known; a decision that will affect not only the rest of their lives, but the entire Wizarding World.

Amongst the darkness, these students are potentially the light needed to give the Order the man power to take on Voldemort’s forces. As both sides fight to gain support, one question lies: which side do you choose?

It's the summer of 1999, a little over a year since the Second War came to an end. Ginny Weasley and the rest of her class have just finished their seventh year at Hogwarts, the Wizarding World is putting the finishing touches on the war repairs, and most people are living their lives freely again. With the watchful eye of Kingsley Shacklebolt, Minister of Magic, it has been reported that all of the Dark Lord's followers have been rounded up and are either being tried or have already been sent off the Azkaban. Whether that is true or not, it has yet to be seen, but most are keen to believe such. The Daily Prophet, in an attempt to redeem itself, has focused the majority of its articles on the positive steps that are being taken in the Wizarding World for equality.

Harry Potter's class has mostly settled into the second year of their adult life, taking on careers and finding their own places. The Ministry, feeling responsible for their hardships during their final year of school - if they were even able to attend - came up with a way to compensate the students, at least by monetary means. In fact, the new alumni have also been compensated, as will several more classes as they finish school. Of course, money isn't the only way the Ministry is paying for its mistakes, several job programs, extra education programs, and counseling are all available to not only students, but anyone that was affected by the war.

With the newfound peace that came to be over the last year, thanks to several new laws and charters put into place to protect all blood statuses, it seems that the Wizarding World doesn't have a care in the world.

The Premise
It's the year 2005. Seven years have passed since Harry Potter defeated Lord Voldemort at the Battle of Hogwarts and gave hope to the wizarding world. Seven years meant to rebuilt their world, to move toward integration, to repair the divisions drawn, but the Ministry has done a volte-face.

Well meaning policies meant to increase the population and protect everyone have been misused. Retributions policies aimed at justice were turned into laws to oppress the purebloods that had created so much hurt in past decades.

The Ministry run by muggleborn and half-bloods seems more interested in revenge than justice. At first, they pass a series of laws masked as compensation for generations of mistreatments and prejudices, but soon those very laws are used to discriminate and punish the purebloods.

It starts with taking away their houses and assets, and soon all purebloods are living in Hogsmeade, in run down houses, with limited Apparition and Floo access. The Special Squad guards the town in the name of safety, but uses its power to intimidate. The heroes of the war fair a little better, but even they lose their jobs and watch Muggleborns and half-bloods take their places despite of merit.

If this weren't enough, the Ministry is intent in integrating with the Muggle world. Computers and televisions are the new rage. Internet and mobiles take the place of the Floo and owls. Tired of all of this purebloods begin to rise. Strange alliances are formed, and the fight starts.

In the midst of all these changes, one man cast a series of spells that will change things forever. Using the many ancient druidic gateways like Stonehenge existing in Britain, Rodolphus ties to bring back their Dark Lord. He hasn't succeeded, but some people have begun to reappear. A few, at first, but with time the spell has taken a life of its own and now no one but faith controls it, bringing back friends and enemies, men and beasts.

In this world of chaos, ordinary witches and wizards must take their stand. Will they protect their own? Will they fight for equality? Will they survive it all?

The Game
Volte-face is a role-playing game based on the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling. The setting takes place seven years after Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows ends and the game is canon compliant to all seven books (minus the epilogue).

This is a dark game. Players will be expected to write and deal with dark subject like social mistreatment, sexual abuse, torture and death. We are looking for creative and active players who want to build a story not only for their characters but for the game as a whole as well. All levels of experience are welcome.

You must be 18 years of age or older to apply.
