One upon a time, gods walked among men.
The community of divinity, creatures that call themselves the Theoi, ruled the ancient world with impunity.
They were cruel.
They were selfish.
Masters of intrigue, they built empires of human flesh, demanding allegiance and punishing those who dared wake their wrath. These Theoi, petty and self-absorbed, slathered their bodies in finery and their swords in blood. Crops of men and women fell in endless wars, their sacrifices necessary to fuel the gods’ bottomless lust for conquest.
It was a good time to be divine.
Then came the god of the Jews. First known as El-Shaddai, a godling of the mountain, he quickly became the singular pillar around which the three monotheistic faiths would build their synagogues, churches and mosques. The Theoi scoffed at his impudence, for even in their lust for dominion over man, they never declared the other gods as non-existent.
It was absurd.
It was ludicrous.
It was the coming of the one, True God.
And he did come. The Theoi were cast to the winds. Once made strong on the blood and belief of humankind, they now withered and turned to dust. Their idols were smashed, temples brought to ruin. Their names were cast out of mind. The Theoi, once the hunters, were now the hunted.
Many of them fell, either to the fiery righteousness of the monotheists, or collapsed into nothingness like the well that no longer provides water.
But was that enough to be rid of them?
The Theoi do not die – at least not as men and women do. They faded into the background, easily moving among their former flocks. And so, while the monotheistic faiths squabble over who worships the One God correctly, and millions of humans turn to technology and media as their new deities of choice, the ancient Theoi watch and wait.
Is it worth it?
Only the Theoi could tell you.

After the events of March 29th, 2007 our Heroes are disheartened, spread across the U.S., and quickly losing their numbers. And to make matters worse, one of their own was working up a plan that would sacrifice his peers to better himself. As if that weren't enough, someone is out there with malicious intent toward people who are "special". Someone is hunting and rounding up anyone with abilities. No one knows who the hunter is or where the hunter comes from. And no one knows where their peers are going. Will opposing sides find allies in each other to end this menace, or will they do as they always have and serve only themselves and their own purposes? Only time will tell... and time is something they're running out of.
HeroesFugitives will mirror Volume 4 of the series starting from March 30th, 2007 (after episode 3.13 Dual) and run in real time. We will be mostly AU from there, but will incorporate some of the events that take place in the rest of season 3 with our game.

Goodge Street may not be on any traveler's guides. It may not be on an online list of the must sees of London but those who live in the area like to keep it that way. Those who know of Goodge know that is was the best place to get coffee in the morning, get the newest record on vinyl (the way music should be listen to) and in the evening, have the best pint on tap. They also know that come the weekend, when the night falls, that Goodge Street was the best place to find live entertainment.
Morningside Coffee House and Bakery has a wicked open mic night. Vinyl Junkies Record Store let up and coming bands play in their shop. Bounty's Tavern has a just started doing theme nights once a month. It seems that despite there differences the three most popular buildings on the street have something in common. This only leads to competition, friendly, of course, as they try to out do themselves. Bartenders are caught at the coffee house on their day off, record store employees at the tavern and the coffee house staff everywhere in between. This is the story of the staff behind the popular establishments. The gears that make everything run smoothly, because, without them.. would Goodge Street be anything to talk about?

In the year 2008, a virus swept North America. Ever vigilant for a pandemic, citizens boarded up their windows, stockpiled their canned goods, and turned their neighbors in to the CDC. Short wave radios fell off the shelves, evacuation routes were prepared. Gas masks and specialty filtration systems were distributed. Pills were available for those showing early symptoms. Pills that did not work. That were later replaced with cyanide as their active ingredient. For those who were brave enough to put their fingers near a loved one's mouth. The United States, Canada, Mexico, the virus swept down into South America and festered in the heat of the jungle. In some places it burned out. Superstition ruled and saved lives. But nothing stopped the virus. Three months after the first diagnosed case of Currere Excessum was recorded, NATO approved Great Britain's use of nuclear force against the United States. It was assumed that all organic material would be reduced to ash under the impact. It was assumed that the Quarantine of the Americas would be temporary, at best. Any who survived the blast would be given the highest in humanitarian attention and medical care. The only American emissaries who knew of the plan lay incinerated in Washington. The Quarantine continued. The Americas lay abandoned. Empty. |
