Where: Summerby estate in Scotland, and also St Mungos

Warnings: Language, mentions of all things having babies, possibly, tbd
Notes: Please feel free to start subthreads in the marked places among yourselves! Anyone the couple knows is welcome for the reception, and anyone they’re related or very close to is at the wedding proper.

One would have thought, with her penchant for cleaning her home and for organizing her work, that Pandora Montgomery’s wedding would have been planned within a millimeter of its life and that she would have been one of the world’s biggest bridezillas. While it couldn’t quite be the farthest thing from the truth, it was rather out there in comparison to the truth.

The ceremony was family and closest friends only, along with one significant other. Which meant the ceremony itself would hold: Hyperion, who was officiating, and his girlfriend, ZJ; Persephone, who was standing up with her, and her boyfriend, Olivier; Philip, who was supposed to be walking her down the aisle, and his girlfriend, Addie; Nora, as her bestfriend, and also standing up with her, and her husband, Alec. Draco, as her cousin (if only by marriage), was of course invited, as were a few of her Montgomery cousins, such as Elroy, who would have something to do with her. And of course, Luna, who had been such a stalwart friend through all of this, and whoever she wanted as a date. That was all on her side. For Ewan there was his parents, of course, and all of his sisters and any significant others (and children) they had, as well as his bestmate, Lancelot, and his girlfriend, Quin, and anyone else he’d wanted to invite.

They’d chosen Ewan’s family’s home, the estate in Scotland. The weather had, thank the gods above and below, cooperated, and it promised to be a beautiful Scottish day, not too hot, and the heather was, indeed blooming. She’d chosen for it to be held at the top of a hill on the moor, underneath a gigantic tree that she and Ewan had climbed all the time in their youth. It held so many good memories for her, and the view from the top with the heather bobbing its heads was, to her mind, perfect.

Simple, and perfect, especially to a woman who had never expected to marry at all.

Afterwards, she’d planned a larger reception, for any of her friends who wished to come to celebrate with her. It was still held at the Summerby estate, with food and a beautiful, tasty cake made by Melinda from Sweet Nothings. All her friends were invited to it, her fellow Slytherins she’d kept in touch with from school, such as Terence and Blaise and Adrian, and of course Alicia, not only as Adrian’s wife but as one of the few people who put up with her myriad of healer related anxieties and who she genuinely liked.

Dora had a surprising amount of friends, if she stopped to actually think about it, which she rarely did. Not all had her full trust, but she was outwardly outgoing, her visible nature much more Hufflepuff than Slytherin. It was her inner nature that was private, her weaknesses, flaws, issues, hidden behind a very high wall that while not unbreachable, wasn’t easily accessed. So the reception should be a relaxed and lovely affair. Nothing was very fancy, but it was decorated and tasteful, elegant in an understated sort of way that Dora often favored.

So it was a simple ceremony and a simple party planned afterward.

Planned. Of course, plans rarely survived being implemented.

What he couldn't understand was why she hadn't bloody well told him! Merlin's beard, the thought of her somehow hurting herself by putting off going to the hospital just to get married to him-- honestly, of all people, he could be asked to wait!-- was enough to make him suffer an anxiety attack at the thought. He wanted to marry her, of course he did-- he had for ages now wanted nothing more, but...

Her life and that of their children was more important than what he'd wanted from the day he first figured out that he was completely and utterly besotted with her.

She seemed so pulled together-- how?!-- when they'd literally given him a bag for the breathing upon their arrival at the hospital. A part of him had wished that Persephone could have simply helped deliver the twins back at the house so that they wouldn't have had to deal with all of this, that she could have felt comfortable and happy instead of utterly stressed out about their environment. None of that helped. He'd wanted to be able to comfort her, to make her feel better, but now she seemed to be in more of a state to be able to do that than he was!

Now, if only he could stop feeling like he was about to pass out... that would be phenomenal.

The ceremony was as much for her as him, and she'd wanted badly the formality of it before she had the babies. Though not hide bound, Dora did enjoy a certain amount of traditionalism. And there was, faint in her mind, the air of legitimacy being married when you had children kept, though it would fool no one since she hadn't been married the majority of her pregnancy.

Restless. She was so restless. That was one way her anxiety was manifesting. At least she had a partial hospital bag packed, just in case. She'd been very broody and nesty lately, not going out much except for work or to see Nora or Luna or Lavender.

She prowled the room, lips brushing over her new ring ahain (and thank goodness for magic or it might not fit because of the pregnancy!). She knew none of her reaction was helping Ewan though and she felt a bit bad about that, so she went over to him. "Help me into something more comfortable?" She asked. Something for both of them to do. She had packed a more comfortable sort of gown bevause hell if she was wearing one of those provided by the hospital.

Dora had almost always been nigh impossibly sweet and considerate when it came to him. For Merlin's sake-- he wasn't the one about to be giving birth to twins, and here she was, trying to calm him down!

Pulling the bag away, he ran a shaky hand down his face only to meet his glasses, a frustrated sound leaving him as his vision was promptly left smudged.

"Y-yes," he nodded hastily, only to find himself looking around the room somewhat desperately. Hadn't they packed a bag for this? Where on earth had they put it?! "Where--"

He spotted it even as he started asking, his eyes widening as he moved to grab it, opening it with trembling fingers. "D-d-do the healers think they can stop it?"

He'd always been her priority and would remain so. Children aside, of course, for these tiny ones - she pushed back a frisson of fear at the thought of too early early early - would be both their priority from now on.

She bit her lip and shook her head. "No. My water broke. There's no fixing that even in the magical world," she said reluctantly. She wished they could. As miserable as the pregnancy made her feel, she didn't want them out quite so early. Granted they would likely be just fine, Persy saif so, but she worried.

She turned for him to undo the back of her dress. He'd have been doing it any way, her husband, if thinfs had gone according to plan. Well, this would just have to do, wouldn't it.

"Surely... surely there's some kind of spell... something anyone can d-d-do..." His body was threatening to start hyperventilating all over again, Ewan doing his best to stop the tears. "Th-th-they're... they're going to be all right, aren't they?"

He couldn't stop thinking about it. The prospect of losing them. Of losing her. They'd spent so long falling in love with their children... he'd spent so long apart from this woman-- this woman who was now his wife-- that the thought of losing them all at this juncture was completely terrifying beyond all measure.

And so his hands trembled as he slowly undid the back of her dress, his breath catching as he closed his eyes.

"Can't cork the genie back," she said softly. She hugged him then, as tight as she could with that stomach of hers in the way. "Of course they are. Persy will make sure of it. Nothing bad will happen to our bairns." And she said it as if she had no doubts, even though she was frightened and worried herelf. Because they both needed to hear it. Believe it.

"I promise, my Ewan," she said softly, knowing he'd still be able to hear her. "I promise. They'll be fine." And if it was her life for theirs, it was a trade she'd make gladly, though she didn't think Persy was goign to let any kind of situation crop up like that.

She let the dress slide off of her and pool onto the floor. She didn't feel like an attractive bride at the moment, as large and unweildy as she felt lately, and so she reached quickly for the comfortable gown she'd packed for this very thing though she hadn't expected to need it quite so soon, to pull it over her head.

"I am sorry, Ewan, that this is happening now." She truly hadn't realized the pain this morning was anything more than what she'd been dealing with every single day lately. If she had, maybe she could have had it stopped, but it hadn't occurred to her. After all, though they were out of the worst of the danger zone, it was still too early.

"We should have gone sooner. Come here sooner." He swallowed hard. "I wish you'd have told m-me." Of course, that would have allowed him the opportunity to talk her out of going through with the wedding at the least opportune moment, and he knew fully well that she wouldn't have settled for that. He knew she'd wanted to get married right then and there, come hell or high water. They'd waited too long as it was already...

They'll be fine. His Panda Bear's words echoed through his head with resounding clarity, over and over again until it was all he could hear.

The problem that this left them with, of course, was the fact that this was only talking about their babies. What about her? Their mother, without whom they'd likely die regardless, just as he would, of heartbreak alone.

"B-b-b-but you--" She wouldn't necessarily be fine. "I can't lose you, not a second time--"

"I had Persy look at me when it happened, Ewan," she told him quietly. "She said then that there wasn't anything they could do. So I decided to go through with it so we'd at least have that, and the babies would be born after the marriage was legal." No one should have questioned their dedication to the other, but there were traditional niceties that were easier if they happened before birth. But even more than that, she had simply wanted to be his wife.

She turned in his arms, but she had to wait to speak as a contraction seized her, and she leaned into his chest within the circle of his arms, breathing deeply until it passed. Then she looked up, reaching up to tug on the lobes of his ears, to gain his attention and his eyes on hers.

"I'll probably be fine," she said softly. "Persy is really good. And so are the other healers. But if anything were to happen to me, Ewan, and I mean this. I expect you to take care of our babies. I promise I'll do my damnedest to be fine, all right? But Ainsley and McKay need their daddy too. So no matter what happens, they're more important, okay?"
