Who: Michael and Megan
What: Visiting
Where: Jones' Books
When: Afternoon
Rating: TBD

This didn't seem like the sort of project that should be anywhere near as difficult as she had made it.

Megan had been busying herself with the task of placing price tags on books was so focused she didn't notice the characteristic jingle of the bell, signalling a customer's entrance, or the tell-tale blush upon her workers' faces suggesting it wasn't just anyone had walked in. It wasn't until a voice interrupted what had become a rather delicate and tedious project- those bloody stickers kept getting annoying creases in them- that Megan realized someone worth noting was there.

With her third attempt, Megan managed a wrinkle-free price tag, and looked up, quirking a smile at the look on the cashier, Elizabeth's, face. She was younger than Megan, just over twenty, and was one of the silliest girls Megan had ever met. Still, she was fun to have around, and Megan could deal with boy crazy. As Elizabeth lowered her lashes at the new-comer and oh-so-politely offered to help him find something, Megan glanced over her shoulder to see who had strolled in.

"Oh, you'd better let that one go, Elizabeth," she teased with a chuckle. "He's a heartbreaker."

Michael was quite aware of the assistant's sudden enamor with him. This wasn't the first time this had happened in Megan's shoppe, of course.

"Do you, then?" Michael responded, "Quite right. Though when one thinks of Michael Corner, one rarely connects professionalism with such, right Megan?"

"Well, Terry could be quite arrogant too," Michael smirked, withholding a chuckle as he spoke of one of his best friends. How he had loved to tease him and Megan constantly back in those days...

"I'm sure you're great at your job, Michael," Megan answered to his question. "You can be serious or professional or whatever it is you need to be when you want to."

When Michael said Terry was arrogant, Megan's brows shot up. "Oh, well, if we're calling Terry arrogant, you certainly fit the bill, mister. Which means you are absolutely my type, as far as you see it."

"If I wasn't, we'd have a problem, wouldn't we?" Michael replied, goodnaturedly, "I do think laughter is the best medicine. Though, I wouldn't recommend someone solely rely on it.."

"How do I fit the bill?" the brunette asked, eyes widening innocently, "I'm a gentleman and very modest...and much less heated than Terry." he chuckled before catching the tail-end of her sentence.

"Ah, see! As far as I see it. You still don't." He stuck his tongue out at Megan.

Megan laughed. "As you see it, because I don't think I have a type!" she insisted. "And, if I did, it would be absolutely impossible for you not to be in it."

Elizabeth was looking slightly uncomfortable at the exchange between Megan and Michael. They claimed to be just friends, but Merlin did they flirt! "I'm sure you're everybody's type," she piped in, and for once Megan didn't roll her eyes.

"There you go! See? Everybody's type!"

"All right, all right lady who doth protest too much; you have no certain type," he conceded with his hands gesturing in a slow-down sort of motion.

Michael could certainly be the flirty bloke and when rounded with Megan, it seemed nearly unstoppable. They were the sort of friends who always did such and never furthered it out of long-standing principles.

Michael laughed, "So I'm everyone's type, yeah? I'll have to use that as a reasoning the next time a woman tries to reject me."

Yes. Long-standing principles. "Sorry, I thought you just suggested that you've ever had to deal with rejection," Megan shot back, quirking a smile in his direction. "As if any woman you've approached has ever shot you down, Michael Corner."

Or some such thing. "Hey, as much as you think I'm perfect, you are sadly mistaken. I've been rejected a few times in my prime," Michael stated, though he was thinking hard about when and why.

Megan's face clearly showed her disbelief. People didn't reject someone like Michael Corner. He was good-looking, charming, sweet, intelligent, and he had a good job. "Oh reeeally," she drawled. "And who, exactly, would you say that was?"

"I really can't remember," the brunette said with a laugh as he slid his hands into the pockets of his trousers. One would think rejection would have left a scar upon his memory, but at the moment his mind was a clean slate.

"Anyhow.. Megan Jones!" He announced as if he had just suddenly remembered the woman's full name, "I came here...to ask if you already had lunch or perhaps do dinner if you did in fact eat by this point.. I'm sure there's a more eloquent way to ask, but yeah.." he said with a boyish shrug.

Megan laughed. How convenient to forget the name of the culprit. She still maintained there was no one in their right mind who would turn him down, but she let it go. For now.

She jolted slightly at the sound of her full name, and turned to look at him with an amused smile. "I accept your very eloquently placed offer. Elizabeth can man the shop while I'm gone." She pretended not to notice the crest-fallen look on Elizabeth's face that clearly showed she had zero interest in staying behind while Michael went off to lunch.

"Brilliant. I'm sure she'll do an excellent job, won't you, Elizabeth?" Michael questioned, training his baby blues onto the other girl, "I'd be glad to bring you back something if you'd like?" he added, graciously.

He turned to Megan, "There's a great restaurant down the street called The Ivy. I've heard some rave reviews about it and I'm sure they have all sorts of things to choose from. We could go there or hit up an eatery nearby? If I recall the Wolseley is also excellent. Your choice, Ms. Jones," he smiled.

"She's fine," Megan said quickly, before Elizabeth could assume that meant Michael would be paying for whatever it was he was bringing back. "She brought her lunch. I just saw it in the back room." Elizabeth frowned at Megan.

"The Ivy sounds perfect." She tossed a slightly strained smile Elizabeth's way, before turning back to him. "Ready then?"

"Well, maybe next time then," Michael said with an assuring smile towards Elizabeth.

Focusing on Meg, he gave a nod and jut his arm - elbow out- towards her in a gentlemanly manner for her to take, "Ready as ever."
