Who: Michael and Megan
What: Visiting
Where: Jones' Books
When: Afternoon
Rating: TBD

This didn't seem like the sort of project that should be anywhere near as difficult as she had made it.

Megan had been busying herself with the task of placing price tags on books was so focused she didn't notice the characteristic jingle of the bell, signalling a customer's entrance, or the tell-tale blush upon her workers' faces suggesting it wasn't just anyone had walked in. It wasn't until a voice interrupted what had become a rather delicate and tedious project- those bloody stickers kept getting annoying creases in them- that Megan realized someone worth noting was there.

With her third attempt, Megan managed a wrinkle-free price tag, and looked up, quirking a smile at the look on the cashier, Elizabeth's, face. She was younger than Megan, just over twenty, and was one of the silliest girls Megan had ever met. Still, she was fun to have around, and Megan could deal with boy crazy. As Elizabeth lowered her lashes at the new-comer and oh-so-politely offered to help him find something, Megan glanced over her shoulder to see who had strolled in.

"Oh, you'd better let that one go, Elizabeth," she teased with a chuckle. "He's a heartbreaker."

Yes. Long-standing principles. "Sorry, I thought you just suggested that you've ever had to deal with rejection," Megan shot back, quirking a smile in his direction. "As if any woman you've approached has ever shot you down, Michael Corner."

Or some such thing. "Hey, as much as you think I'm perfect, you are sadly mistaken. I've been rejected a few times in my prime," Michael stated, though he was thinking hard about when and why.

Megan's face clearly showed her disbelief. People didn't reject someone like Michael Corner. He was good-looking, charming, sweet, intelligent, and he had a good job. "Oh reeeally," she drawled. "And who, exactly, would you say that was?"

"I really can't remember," the brunette said with a laugh as he slid his hands into the pockets of his trousers. One would think rejection would have left a scar upon his memory, but at the moment his mind was a clean slate.

"Anyhow.. Megan Jones!" He announced as if he had just suddenly remembered the woman's full name, "I came here...to ask if you already had lunch or perhaps do dinner if you did in fact eat by this point.. I'm sure there's a more eloquent way to ask, but yeah.." he said with a boyish shrug.

Megan laughed. How convenient to forget the name of the culprit. She still maintained there was no one in their right mind who would turn him down, but she let it go. For now.

She jolted slightly at the sound of her full name, and turned to look at him with an amused smile. "I accept your very eloquently placed offer. Elizabeth can man the shop while I'm gone." She pretended not to notice the crest-fallen look on Elizabeth's face that clearly showed she had zero interest in staying behind while Michael went off to lunch.

"Brilliant. I'm sure she'll do an excellent job, won't you, Elizabeth?" Michael questioned, training his baby blues onto the other girl, "I'd be glad to bring you back something if you'd like?" he added, graciously.

He turned to Megan, "There's a great restaurant down the street called The Ivy. I've heard some rave reviews about it and I'm sure they have all sorts of things to choose from. We could go there or hit up an eatery nearby? If I recall the Wolseley is also excellent. Your choice, Ms. Jones," he smiled.

"She's fine," Megan said quickly, before Elizabeth could assume that meant Michael would be paying for whatever it was he was bringing back. "She brought her lunch. I just saw it in the back room." Elizabeth frowned at Megan.

"The Ivy sounds perfect." She tossed a slightly strained smile Elizabeth's way, before turning back to him. "Ready then?"

"Well, maybe next time then," Michael said with an assuring smile towards Elizabeth.

Focusing on Meg, he gave a nod and jut his arm - elbow out- towards her in a gentlemanly manner for her to take, "Ready as ever."
