Who: Roger Davies and Seth Moon
Where: Aquabar VIP Booth
When: Evening
What: Seth ropes Roger into some risky business.

"Name?"

"Roger Davies."

Refusing to make eye contact with Roger, the bouncer lifted up the velvet rope and allowed Roger to pass while a few witches at the front of the line followed him with their eyes longingly. The exclusivity of the lounge was certainly reflected in the atmosphere-- no loud witches or wizards here. Just really... intoxicated ones silently going on each other in corners while bartenders wrapped stems of martini glasses with unicorn braids.

Heading to the back where the private VIP booths were, Roger got a hostess to direct him to Seth Moon's booth. Parting the sound proof curtain, I wonder what people really use sound proofing for here, Roger found Seth Moon lounging quite contentedly in his little luxurious hovel.

"Can I get you something?" the hostess flashed a pretty smile.

"Uh... water with a lime."

"..."

Roger ignored her and sat down across from Seth.

"So?"

"The tunnels held up during years war that raged above it, it's not going to quake just because a couple of guys are flying around in it on brooms," Seth picked up a little diamond shard from his glass and held it up to the dim light, "Besides, the risk is where the added bonus is, gives the entire race a little more edge, don't you think?" Not that it mattered what any of these racers thought, they were small fries playing in a big league game; it's tough to start at the bottom.

Seth shrugged, making himself comfortable into the seat again, and propped his feet up on the table. His shoes probably cost more than some honest Samaritan's annual salary, and he personally loved the pyramid scheme. "What. You think have the roster memorized?" Seth snorted, listing off some names, mostly small time racers around Roger's own level, "But there is guy, Mercurius Edins, have you heard of him?"

"The tunnels were also a lot newer back then," Roger watched as Seth examined the diamond shard in his glass. He wondered if you were allowed to keep them. "No, I'm not a lunatic," Roger replied instantly, to which his friends (if they had been present) would have snorted at. No, it wasn't insane at all to enjoy speeding a broom past its capability to deal with the friction of the air it cuts through till it begins to swerve. "I like the art of it, not the thrill."

As a former Ravenclaw, Roger did, indeed, think that Seth should have memorized the roster. But he said nothing. Out of all the two faced Slytherins he knew, Seth Moon was probably the trickiest one. Ones like Nott have have been cruelly reserved, and ones like Malfoy diabolically arrogant, but Seth was the slippery part of the Slytherin snake. So, a slight frown met Seth's easy, relaxed smile.

"He came to a burn out a few weeks ago," the wizard recalled. "Wanted to pick up a few drifting techniques. Doesn't make sense, he's just a racer. Why? And why do you need to beat him?"

Oh, is that what the kids were calling it these days? Everything, apparently, was art. Clearly not interested in arguing with Roger about the architectural integrity of said underground mazes, Seth shrugged his shoulders lazily, "Fair enough," which translated into 'I don't give a fuck.' Because Seth did not come here to talk about old stones and poor excuses, he came here to make a business proposition, something he found that he was quite good at. Although he had to admit that convincing Davies- who was unwilling, looked like- was much harder than, say, convincing a producer to pay him more money for a certain role. The guy's mindset did not revolve around the economy of a life, and Seth was fine with that, he just had to play the game a different way.

"Let's just say that I don't like him, and that's all you need to know, really," Seth smiled, realizing that the other wizard was trying to psychoanalyze him, "Besides, think of it this way, you don't have to beat him. You just have to win the race- that's what you want to do, right?"

Sighing, Seth sat up again, placing the small diamond shard on the table, "Listen, I understand that you are hesitant about taking up my offer- and I must admit, it does pose some risks- but you have a good chance at this. These kids aren't necessarily specialized in drifting, for most of them, they will be coming off a long line of straight-liners. You can show them how it's done. And to the big names that there's no need for an expensive, latest broom to create- art, so to speak." There was a pause (for dramatic effect). "You really have nothing to lose, Davies."
