Who: Parvati Malfoy and Daphne Greengrass
Where: Orchids Tea Leaves Charity Tea Party for Illiteracy
When: September 20th 2003
What: These girls do not like one another

As the Orchids' prized future pledge (Though not a member as she was still one year too young), Parvati Malfoy had been having a surprising amount of fun at the charity tea party. Though she HAD always thought the Orchids were the establishment to be involved with, she was plenty aware that they were all fairly stuffy and much too traditional for her liking. No matter. She would change that all when she was a part of it.

The auction had just finished, and most were making their way into the beautifully done up hall for a spot of high tea. Explaining her husband's noticeable absense (he still had a spot of the flu, her poor Dragon) to some of the older upperclass women, Parvati bashfully showed off the blinding sapphire ring Draco had bought her the other week.

"Oh, yes, it was such a lovely surprise. It was a gift for filling in as his secretary the last few months. It's been so much fun, though the new girl will be starting soon-"

Brown eyes sharpened as she noticed a certain former Slytherin join the group of women.

Daphne would never understand what Draco saw in Parvati Patil. The bubbly little rodent had never sat well with Daphne, and after she had managed to snatch up the most eligible bachelor on the market, she had only dropped lower in the former Slytherin's favor. Needless to say, Daphne was horribly jealous of the woman, though you would never hear her admit it, and every time she saw her, gallavanting around with all her sunshine and fuzziness it gave her the strong urge to vomit.

All of this, of course, meant that Daphne was positively thrilled as she was politely escorted over to the group of women fawning over Parvati's newest gift. Despite her inner sneer that radiated so strongly from her gaze, Daphne was polite and collected as ever. "How lovely, Parvati. You must have been quite the secretary." She offered a smile, ingenuine as always. "You must miss spending so much time with him now that he's found a replacement."

It was funny how someone so warm and bubbly could look so icy and condescending with barely more than a flicker of change in her demeanour, but as Parvati met the eyes of Daphne Greengrass (AKA that ugly spinster cow) she did just that.

"Why thank you. Yes, I do like to think I did rather well. Draco often teased that I was much too over qualified for the job." The other ladies tittered, keen to suck up, "Oh, I certainly miss him, but it makes him coming home in the evenings all the more pleasurable. And I'm at the ministry often enough due to our various businesses and dealings." Her smile was, at best, frigid, "Oh, one shouldn't call her a replacement. Afterall, it is I who is Draco's wife, being his secretary was simply a hobby, and I certainly shall not be usurped." Parvati provided a teasing wink at the other ladies. "Afterall, such assistant labor is really for the unmarried or working class women."

Well, if nothing else, the presence of the two girls was going to make Orchid gatherings an awful lot more interesting.

Daphne refrained from asking just what sort of businesses Parvati was partaking in. The last time she'd checked, the only business Parvati had involved herself in was wittling away the Malfoy fortune one horrid, sparkly pink outfit at a time.

"Oh, darling, surely you didn't misconstrue what I said. I meant for his original secretary. I can assure you I'd never consider you working class." She offered a smile.
