Who: Megan and Aidan
What: Dinner
Where: Meg's (and Seamus') flat.
When: Friday evening

Megan wasn't entirely sure what she was doing. Although she had always thought Aidan was quite fit, and terribly nice, not to mentino the fact that she found it amazing he wanted to be a healer, she had never given an awful lot of thought to what it would be like to date him. He had, however, been on the top of George's list, and George had to have some bizarre form of intuition, right?

So Megan had gone about to preparing a meal for Aidan. This gesture wasn't as over the top for a first date as some might have thought, what with Megan loving to cook and bake. She had a salad waiting on the table, and was in the process of finishing up her chicken pasta. Cookies were in the oven: white chocolate macadamia nut to spite Roger even further. In her skirt and sweater ensemble, Megan brushed a lock of wavy hair behind her ear just in time to hear someone at the door. Grinning, she made her way over to pull open the door. "Aidan!"

Giggling, Megan shut the door behind him as he entered, watching his reaction to her home curiously. "Well, that's unfortunate. You still managed the burst of shamrocks, I hope?"

Compliments were the way to Megan's favor, it was no secret. "Well, thank you," she replied, beaming. "Some of it's Seamus' and some is mine. I think they compliment each other surprising well." She looked proudly about the house, which had been transformed from a bachelor's pad (though not too terribly much) thanks to a woman's touch. It was also very clean and neat thanks to Megan's maid-like habits. "I hope you're hungry. I made pasta!"

"Ye got ter open it ter see." Aidan smiled and, uopn hearing the magic word - pasta - smiled even wider.

"Megs, ye know that this wasn't necessary, don't ye? Not that I mind, of course, but it wasn't necessary." Aidan followed his friend curiously and wondered what this was about. Doubtlessly a nice gesture, he decided. Perhaps he should try to convince Terry and Padma to do the same whenever he visited. The Irishman wasn't quite sure how well Terry wold fare but Padma's cooking would surely be interesting.

"Are we celebratin' anythin'?"

"Oooh. Can I open it now?" she asked, sounding not unlike a child waiting to open gifts on Christmas morning. "I don't have to wait until after dinner, do I?"

She waved off his comments. "I wanted to. Besides, I love cooking." Not to mention the fact that she didn't think Aidan had been getting any high-quality home-cooked meals as of late. Being a healer-in-training generally meant lots of late nights and not so healthy eating habits.

"Celebrating? Hm. I don't know. Have anything worth celebrating?" Megan was hoping to celebrate how wrong Roger had been, but that wasn't quite official yet. She'd have to see how things went.

"By all means." Aidan smiled and went for cover behind a couch. "Ye can open it now." He replied from his place of safety, wearing a mischievous grin.

Aidan deemed it safer to continue their conversation from there as he leaned nonchalantly over the sofa. "I think that ye love cookin' is a very thing as I really like eating. As for celebratin'..." His thoughts returned to the last night and a dopey, lovesick smile spread over his face. "It might be a bit soon for that but I'm gettin' there. An' ye? Any reasons for celebration?"

Megan hesitated as Aidan moved behind a sofa. If he was ducking for cover waht did that say about the contents of the bottle in her hands? Was it going to explode? Surely, as a healer-in-training, he knew better than to give her anything dangerous, right?

"A bit soon? Are we talking about your tests for healer training, Aidan?" she asked, oblivious.

"Er- it's complicated," she answered with a small laugh. "But I'd like to think I'm celebrating proving someone wrong."

Hesitantly, she moved to uncork the bottle, then thought better of it and pointed it away from herself. "This better not stain the carpet." She said, before hesitantly removing the cork.

"No, we're talking about somethin' much more excitin'." Aidan replied, his eyes sparkling mischievously. "In fact, I'm..."

The cork was removed and all of a sudden a shower of sparkly green shamrocks burst out of the bottle, glistering whenever a ray of light met their surface and disappearing soundlessly like soap bubbles upon the touch. Grinning like a child, Aidan re-emerged from his spot behind the couch.

"Do ye like it? Bottled luck."

Megan let out a small squeal of both shock and delight as a giant shower of green exploded from the bottle she'd been holding. Lucky for Aidan, they disappeared before they could do any harm to her carpet. Megan would have had a fit.

"Aidan! That was brilliant!" she exclaimed, eyes alight. "I should've known you'd bring something of the sort."

Aidan made a small, playful bow. "Expect brilliance from me, Megs." He smiled. "An' modesty, too."

He closed the distance between them once again, perfectly fine with approaching Megan again after the 'danger' had passed. "Now ye were talkin' about pasta?"

Giggling, Megan rolled her eyes. "Yes, you always have been terribly bashful, haven't you?"

He mentioned pasta and Megan let out an 'oh!' of surprise. "Yes! Pasta! It's ready!" She hurried into the kitchen to finish setting the table just in time to hear the timer for her cookies go off. Removing them from the stove, she turned to look over her shoulder at him. "But you were talking about why you were so excited!"

She brought a loaf of bread back to the table with her. "What are we celebrating for you?"

Aidan followed Megan into the kitchen, his smile brightening up at the prospect of food and companionable talk.

"Well, I know it's very soon an' all that but..." Aidan all but started bouncing on his feet with barely concealed excitement. "I think I'm fallin' in love." There it was. He said it. And felt exactly like the sappy fool that he was.

Megan's brows shot up at Aidan's confession, hesitantly setting down the final dishes as she eased into one of the chairs at the kitchen table.

"F-Falling in love?" she echoed, looking horribly confused. Aidan wasn't insane enough to be suggesting he was in love with her was he? He'd only been there for ten minutes! And yeah, okay, they'd known each other for quite some time, but they had never been...

Megan served herself some of the salad in an attempt to look nonchalant.

Aidan kept staring at Megan with a sappy smile a little longer before he snapped back into reality.

"Well, yes." He beamed. "An' if ye would have asked me about that a few weeks ago ye would have gotten vehement denial because we don't fit at all but I can't stop..." He started gesticulating, obviously out of words. "Anyway, we decided ter do it the classic way now. Strings attached an' all that." He didn't even realize that he might not be making too much sense.

"The salad looks great by the way."

Megan's eyes widened at his confession, but as he went on it seemed to make less and less sense. He wasn't talking about her. Megan was torn between excitment that her friend hadn't gone insane and disappointment that their date was, well, no longer actually a date at all.

"Thank you, but don't change the subject on me, Aidan! Who is she?"

"Ye may want ter sit down for that." Aidan replied dryly, though he still wasn't capable of keeping away the hint of the mad smile that constantly lingered beneath the surface these days.

He pulled out a chair for Megan and placed it behind her in case her legs were to give away once he confided in his friend. "It's Tracey Davis an' I want ye ter help me woo her." Aidan paused for a moment before adding a soft. "Please?"

It was a good thing Megan had opted to wait to take a sip of her water. She surely would have spit it all out. It would have been just like one of those scenes in the movies, spraying all over the place in her horror.

Instead, Aidan got to see the completely disgusted and horrified look that took over her face at his confession. "Tr-" She let out a laugh- not a silly one, but the nervous type one gives off when they aren't entirely sure what they're supposed to be doing. "Tracey Davis?" She paused for a moment, praying for a laugh, a chuckle, a smile, anything that would hint that he had been kidding. Nothing.

"Are you out of your mind?" she blurted, eyes wide. "Tracey Davies!?" While it wasn't entirely rational (and Megan's though processes often weren't), Megan immediately went through the comparisons. Tracey Davis was a whore. Megan was not. Tracey Davis was a pureblooded snob. Megan was not. Tracey was a bitch. Megan was not, generally speaking. How come he wanted Tracey?! Why wasn't this a date?! Why the hell was Roger bloody Davies always so damned right?!

Ever so slowly the smile dropped off Aidan's face as he watched the expressions flicker over Megan's face. He should have known, the Irishman admonished himself silently. Tracey had something of a reputation, after all but Aidan was sure that they had...he wasn't quite able to find a word for it but it felt right. And even when it didn't – he would make it right.

"Megan." Aidan said seriously and looked straight at his friend. "I realize this comes as a bit of a surprise – it did ter me as well – but it works. She makes me happy an' we just...fit." Which probably wasn't the most rational explanation but nevertheless it was all the Ravenclaw could come up with.

"Yeah, I'll bet she makes you happy," Megan snapped, insinuation obvious in her voice. She hadn't thought Aidan was the sort of bloke to date a girl for sex, but she failed to see any other upside when it came to that wretched woman.

"Tracey Davis is a slut Aidan," she told him, pushing her chair back from the table. She certainly wasn't in the mood for eating her picture-perfect meal now. Damn it- she had worked hard on it, too. "If you think I'm going to sit around here with you and come up with ways to keep her in your bed, you're out of your bleeding mind."

For a moment Aidan remained speechless and merely stared at Megan. Then, suddenly it felt as if all his jumbled thoughts wanted to get out of his mouth all at once.

"I don't want 'er in me bed." Aidan said, his voice cooling considerably while his accent rose with his level of agitation. "I want 'er in me life. I know 'ow ter keep 'er in me bed."

Ugh, men.

"Well, I hope you've got a lot of bloody stamina, because she'll be running after the next attractive bloke she sees the second you turn your back," she snapped. "If you've got some bizarre fantasy that she's going to change her ways for you, you're going to be in for a surprise, Aidan."

That may have been a bit judgmental of her, but Tracey Davis was one of those people Megan absolutely could not stand.
