Who: Terry Boot and Aidan Chambers
What: Relaxing, talking about lots of things.
Where: Terry's flat.
Status: Incomplete.

Terry was laying on his couch, trying to read, but there was just too much going through his head. The plans with Aidan, who was suppose to be there any minute, along with the meeting with Tracey at the bar. She was certainly a woman in her own league; she liked to push back, and Terry liked that. It wasn't like he was head-over-heels though, he hardly knew the women, but he was intrigued.

Deciding to throw his book aside, Terry instead pulled out the plans for the buildings him and Aidan were using and continued looking them over.

Warehouses could be used for training areas and possibly storage, and the office buildings could be used as places to stay and storage, and meetings could be there too...

Terry flicked ashes off his cigarette and took another drag. "Yeah, it almost makes me want to pull out the building plans again." He gave a small laugh. "Maybe. Going out might do us some good." He sighed and took a few steps toward Aidan. "You know, I'm glad I'm leaving in two days. It's not a long trip, but a change of pace might do me good."

Again Aidan frowned worriedly. "But that's not just because of Tracey, isn't it?" He leaned forward and put his bottle down.

"Terry, don't tell me ye...ye really liked her?" They couldn't both be so spectacularly stupid.

Terry hesitated. "Not just Tracey." He finished off the last of his current cigarette and lit another like he was a robot. "I found her intriguing. It's not everyday you find a woman who likes to push limits like she does. Anyway," His eyes focused on the cloud of smoke emitted on his last exhale. Now everything was starting to combine in one huge headache. "It's just, you know, stuff in general. Things have taken a drastic turn in a very short amount a time and even a day off, somewhere else, can do a person wonders." Terry looked over at Aidan. "Not that I want to ditch our project or anything, because I'm fully committed to it, but I'd like to at least think I function properly once things really start up."

"Can we...can we stop talkin' about 'er? I jst want ter get 'er out of me life an' never think of 'er again."

Aidan followed Terry's movements with growing concern. Despite his fatigue, he was first and foremost a Healer and in the back of his mind he already imagined the worst case scenarios of Terry becoming addicted. Then he shook his head and realized that he was a paranoid fool.

"Terry, a few days away won't change anythin' an' the project needs time. In fact," He smiled ruefully. "I'm so far behind on me learnin' stuff for the exams that a few days holed up with me books sounds like a very good idea." Or MediWitch McKenzie would have his guts for breakfast.

"That sounds fine to me." The prospect of getting Tracey out of his head sounds great, actually.

Terry sighed and finally gave Aidan a small smile. "A few days away sounds good to me." He glanced back over to the window. "And once I get back and you're all settled for your exams, we can get down to business." Terry moved back over to the chair he'd been in before. "But for now, I say let's drink and be merry. Or at least try to be."

Aidan nodded, most of all glad that their friendship kept on unwavering.

"I owled me uncle an' he says 'Clancy's' is always open ter us. Perhaps when ye come back we could go ter Ireland together an' tell him the rest of the story." In fact, that sounded a bit like a little fun vacation with a serious background - perhaps that was exactly what they needed. Plus, Patrick Clancy - despite being a Muggle (albeit one who knew about the Wizarding World thanks to his sister) - was one of the most down-to-earth people Aidan knew. If anyone could help them get on track with their project - it was him.

With a dazzling smile Aidan raised his bottle. "Ter bein' completely irrational, idealistic and ready ter change the world."

"You're uncle is definitely one of the most intelligent people I've ever met. We should head out there and see what he has to say. He always has great perspective." Terry extinguished the cigarette and plopped into the chair. Even if he was tempted for another, two was the limit. The change of subject was certainly making him feel better, and he grabbed the bottle he'd previously had.

"To all that," Terry replied with a smile "and to the friends who encourage it."

"That an' he keeps the best Guinness around." Aidan grinned, recalling the pub lovingly in each dirty detail. He spent half his youth there, after all.

"Now. As the last time we spent all our time plotting against the Renegades - what did ye do all these years? I mean, I want details this time, mate. Possibly pantomime, too."

"Good drink and good advice, what could be better?" He replied with a laugh.

"Honestly, there really isn't much to tell." Terry leaned back on the chair, bottle still in hand. "After we finished school, I had a few jobs until I got settled and got myself an apartment. Then, about 5 months later I got my job at the Ministry, and then about 2 months later they started sending me on trips. I travel, I work, I drink, and sometimes I make human contact." He motioned between the two of them. "I'm sad to say that I think this is the most stable my social life has been in a long time." He took a drink from the bottle. "But what about you? What've you been up to all this time?"

"Cheers, mate." Aidan responded dryly. "At least that sounds like yer doin' somethin'. Let me think...I went ter Dublin an' started the Healer programme, spent my time at the hospital, oh an' I had an interestin' flat mate. George. Remind me ter introduce ye."

Aidan grinned at the recollection of his slightly insane flat-mate. "He's a Muggleborn wizard an' studied technology an' did ye know that Muggles really know how ter party? We spent half our free time with his Muggle friends." They spent the other half getting sober again.

"You're not serious, are you?" Terry scoffed, not believing his best friend didn't realize how important his job was. "Do you realize how important the medical field is? How many people wouldn't be here without it? That's a lot more than I can say: Oh, let's have the Quidditch World Cup there this year. Last time I checked Quidditch didn't save lives."

Terry laughed. "I'd definitely be interested in learning more about how muggles party."

"What did I say?" Aidan blinked in confusion before Terry elaborated. "Oh, that."

He shrugged, then thought better of it. Terry was one of those people who would actually understand. so why not give it a try? "Ye see, the frustratin' thing about medicine is that we know so very little. People always think that we know everythin' but fact is that we haven't even scratched the surface and now I talked ter Augusuts Pye - brilliant man! - and we're thinkin' about findin' ways ter combine Muggle and wizarding medicine." There was a slightly manic gleam in his eyes but in his enthusiasm Aidan didn't even notice.

"As for the Muggles parties: they're loud, they're really inventive when it comes ter drinks an' as soon as yer back, I'm draggin' ye on one."

Terry nodded. He did understand where Aidan was coming. "Yeah, there's still a lot of questions that need answers, but think of all that medicine has done. Especially in the last 100 years; life expectancy has almost doubled, cures for a lot of diseases have been discovered, and there's a lot of stuff on the horizon. There's a long way to go, but a lot has been covered already." He sat up. "Really? That's brilliant. I'm a lot could be done by combining."

A grin appeared on Terry's face. "You don't have to ask me twice, then. Or even once, for that matter. I'm all for it."

"Aye, it has." Aidan agreed with a smile. "Ye know, ye should write these motivational booklets. Ye do that pretty well."

He leaned back with a satisfied smile, pondering the wonders of modern medicine for a moment before his eyes flickered back to his friend. Perhaps this trip was just what Terry needed. They were all stressed but knowing Terry's caring nature - one of the very reasons why Aidan liked and trusted him so much - the other man must have suffered a lot lately: first with his friends Hannah and Hermione being threatened and then with the thing they didn't talk about anymore. Yes, a holiday seemed to be just the thing for him.

"I promise we'll have fun on that party."

Terry have Aidan an apprehensive look. "I don't know. Maybe if I ever decide to change careers." He laughed. "But it's true. And, y'know, points to everyone going down that path like you and Padma. I don't think I'd be able to do it." His mind briefly thought back on not inviting Padma into the new DA and a shot of regret went through him.

He took another drink from the bottle and smiled. "I'm looking forward to it. I don't remember the last time I just went out to a party."

"Yer makin' me blush." Aidan responded in a dead-pan voice and raised his bottle in a toast.

"To parties."
