Who: Parvati Malfoy and George Weasley
What: Cuddles, then more arguing. It's what they do.
Where: George's place, Diagon Alley
When: Mid-afternoon

George had spent most of the morning trying to make the flat he shared with his brother look presentable. He knew it was all in vain; Parvati was just going to pick everything apart and suggest he let her redecorate it anyway. But at least she wouldn't have to step over piles of somewhat-explosive things on the way to the couch. When he was finally done cleaning he wandered into the bathroom to spruce himself up a bit. Couldn't be looking like a mess for Parvati could he? She'd probably try to shave him herself. Why was he doing this again?

"Mmm... I'm not sure I should," George laughed, enjoying the embrace for just a few moments longer. "I cleaned it up, but I'm sure you'll still want to turn everything pink."

Reluctantly, he released her and stepped back do she could enter the flat. It was definitely the home of two young men tho didn't care as much about how their home looked nearly as much as how well it would stand up to an explosion or two.

Stepping inside, Parvati surveyed the flat with something akin to apprehension. She was pretty sure there was a puffskein living under one of the sofa's cushions, and there was a strange burn mark she spied hidden partially beneath a rug.

"George," She noted with exasperation, "Have you even tried at all?"

"Well," Parvati chirped, playfully pretending to roll up her sleeves, "I can certainly make things lots better, especially now that I have my magic back!" The delight was evident in her voice. In fact, George, other than her own family, was the only one to know she had lost her magic. Heavy trust.

"I did try. Just imagine what it looked like before all the cleaning," he couldn't help but smirk.

"Mmm. I'm bet you're excited about that," he nodded a bit, closing the door behind them and wandering over to the couch. He reached under one of the cushions and pulled out not one but three puffskeins, and set them on the floor. They quickly scampered of under the chair, and he sank down onto the couch. "No more fear of Draco divorcing you?"

Parvati made a face. "You know, I have many house elves, you could borrow one sometime. They're rather fond of me, and I'm sure they'd just adore you." She rolled her eyes at the grossness of boys.

Eyeing the three puffskeins that moved like a swarm, Parvati began the task of doing tiny little bits of cleaning and rearranging about the flat (with the help of her trusty wand). She was moving a basket when she realised the cushions inside were really a new batch of tiny sheep and immediately dropped her wand to coo over them.

"Oh my Merlin, I am so over the moon, George. It was horrible without magic. I felt so empty and useless and-" She colored slightly as she voiced what had been her deepest fear, "I didn't think he'd divorce me! Draco wouldn't do that. I was just...worried...a bit how he'd react. He is a Malfoy, sometimes I also get caught up in that instead of remembering how he really is."

"I'm pretty sure your house elves would take one look at this place and start bashing themselves over the head with the heaviest things they could find rather than try to clean it," George smirked.

"Mm. Well, all's well that ends well I suppose," He nodded, trying to steer clear of conversation about Draco. He shouldn't have brought it up, but he hadn't been able to help himself. "You can get back to magicing your hair just the way you like it."

Tickling one of the little sheep, Parvati seemed to have forgotten momentarily about redecorating, "No. They wouldn't. To be honest, I've been trying really hard to break them of that habit. I think Lucius was an absolute monster to them." She was not at all fond of her half-dead father-in-law. "Horrid man. Honestly, some of the things the portraits tell me..."

Parvati smiled, "Well, I've actually gotten used to doing my hair without any magic. It looks nice just simple, don't you think? Anyway, tell me! What's new? Any new candies? How's Fred? Any...girls?" Deep down in her heart, Parvati did not want a positive answer to that last question. Yes, she was happily married. Yes, she would never cheat. Yes, it was a completely selfish thing. Oh well. Everyone has their vice.

"Best to keep them away from here until you've gotten them completely away from it, all the same," George nodded, watching her with the sheep. He was still a little jealous she liked Fred's sheep more than his puffskeins.

"It does look nice," he admitted with a faint smile. "Fred's all right. We've been working on those Freezing Fudgies... that was a perfect name for them, by the way. You're a genius. But other than that, not much else is new." He shrugged. "And no, no girls. Not in the way you mean anyway."

"What about you? Everything going all right?"

"But cleaning makes them happy, they complain I don't give them enough to do!" Parvati argued, giggling as the little sheep climbed all over her arm.

"Thanks." She blushed at his validation, "As a reward can you name a candy after me? Or something pretty and pink?" Parvati glanced around, "Fred evacuated, didn't he? Poor boy, I bet he thought this was be a disaster." Her wand was back out and with a quick spell she had charmed some cushions into an elegant navy color.

"No girls? That's too bad." Parvati said, not sounding sorry at all, "They'd have to pass my test anyway, and it's not for the faint hearted."

"Everything's lovely!" She chirped, "Well, now that I have my magic AND you back!" A beautiful Parvati smile before she spontaneously bounced over and hugged his side hard, "You have no idea how much I missed having you to talk to!" Another tight hug, her bangles jangling and sliding furthur down her arms.

"A candy named after you? Hm... I suppose that could be arranged," He nodded, already mulling over names for it in his mind. It could turn whoever ate it pink. Or maybe into a complete airhead. Hm. "Yeah, he blew out as soon as I told him you were coming."

"I'm aware," George snorted. He hadn't tried to bring any girls around Parvati, but he'd seen the way she reacted to girls he was just friends with. He'd hate to see how she'd treat a girl he was dating.

George could feel a grin spreading across his face when the girl bounced over and caught him in a hug. It faded, though, when he bracelets fell back to reveal a faint bruise on her arm. Reaching over, he gently lifted her arm to give it a closer look. "what happened?

Eyeing him, her lips pushed out, "You better not be thinking that the candy could make someone stupid or something, George Weasley. I'd get you and your little puffskeins too." To prove her point she pointed her wand with great precision at a pile of what seemed to be dirty socks, turning it into a pink vase.

"What?" Parvati asked innocently, "I'm just protective. No girl is good enough for you, Georgie."

As George looked with such tender care at her bruise on her arm, Parvati's eyes became large. In fact, the bruise was from...well....the little adventure she had had with Draco in his office a few days prior. It had been a little rough since his desk was fairly hard with a bunch of thick corners, and Parvati had very delicate skin. She flushed at the thought.

And so, embarrassed by the truth - as Parvati was still as shy as the virgin bride she had been, she didn't think what it would sound like as she pulled her arm back toward herself, jittering out, "Oh, it's nothing. I fell or something."

"I would never think something like that," George smiled innocently at her, but rolled his eyes when she turned his socks into a vase. "Hey. I need those."

"Mm. Well, you're not allowed to think that if I'm not allowed to think no man is good enough for you," he decided with a nod.

George arched an eyebrow, unconvinced. Why had she sounded nervous? "Parvati..." he frown deepened as he wrapped his arms around her. "Tell me the truth."

He hesitated. His mind had automatically jumped to one possible explanation for it, but he knew she'd claw his eyes out if he even suggested it.

"The charm will wear off soon." She shrugged, "Besides, you need Clean socks, not them!"

Parvati met George's eyes with a sparkling twinkle in her own, "I never said you can't think that, I just said you musn't take it out on me."

Trapped in George's arms - a position that always caused her heartbeat to race just the slightest, Parvati became even more nervous. She wasn't thinking what George would be thinking, instead she was horrified at the idea that he would realise that SHE was having sex, and so, in typical sitcom style, made the situation much, much, worse.

"I am!" She glanced around for escape, her voice high, "No really, I fell the other day. So silly of me. I'm such a goose."

"They were clean enough," George shrugged. "They're good for a few more days anyway."

"Well, you musn't take your feeling out on any of the girls I happen to date, then," He nodded firmly.

George's hold tightened when he saw Parvati looking around for an escape. "Parvati, you know you can't lie to me. So stop trying." His frown was set firmly on his face.

Her odd reaction was just serving to confirm his suspicions. "... Was it Draco?"

Parvati's nose wrinkled, "I never agreed to that! I won't take it out on you. They're free game though. And hey-" Her hands flew to her hips and she fixed him with a stare, "What girls you happen to date? You said there was no one! What are you hiding?" She almost sounded like a wife bearing down on a husband she thought was unfaithful.

Parvati blinked rapidly, "I'm not lying, why would I lie? George, you must let me- Just... Well," Her face changed at the mention of her husband - oh godddd he knew that Draco and her did *that* - "I mean, yes, but no, look nevermind, Georgie. Let's stop this conversation. No big deal, right?"

George just offered her a sweet smile. "I'm not hiding anything from you. why would I do something like that? It was purely hypothetical."

"It is a big deal," George's expression darkened. He really had done something to her, hadn't he? Why else would she be reacting like this? "Parvati, if he's hurting you, I swear to Merlin I'll go find him and kill him right now."

Brown eyes became dark and for a moment Parvati looked almost as if she would turn into an angry Veela. "GEORGE stop the crap! You have a girlfriend don't you? Oh my God. Who is she?"

Parvati squirmed nervously, "Hurting me? No, I mean, George, it didn't hurt, and it's not as if I wasn't asking for it-" She blinked, "Draco did say to wear that thing and-" Parvati was babbling on about their sexlife, thinking that was what George was on about, all the while exaceberating the situation. Sometimes, she makes even my head hurt.

George couldn't help but laugh at her reaction. "I don't have a girlfriend, Parvati. Honestly."

"Asking for it? Parvati, I'm sure you weren't asking for him to be abusive..." George gave her a somewhat confused look. What in the world was she going on about? "Wear what? What is he forcing you to do?"

She gave him a very frightening evil eye, "You better not be lying, George. I can find out."

Puzzled, Parvati's lips dropped open, "Wait, abusive? Draco isn't abusive! GEORGE!" She pulled away from him immediately, "Oh my God, that's what you thought? No! Oh ugh, why must you think the worst of him? He'd never even think of being abusive to me!" It broke her heart to even think that. Draco could be cruel sometimes, even possessive, but he would never lift a finger to her.

She colored as she realised what she'd been going on with and instantly felt mortified, "Oh, um, nothing. I thought...I thought you meant something else."

"I know. I wouldn't dare risk your wrath," he assured her.

"How could I not think that with the way you were acting?" George huffed, eyes narrowing. "You said he did it to you! why else would he..." He trailed off as the other things she'd been rambling about clicked in his head. Oh. "... Parvati, that's disgusting!"

"Rightly so." She gave a satisfied nod.

Flushing so red that even he caramel skin couldn't cover the blush, Parvati could barely meet George's eyes, "George! It isn't disgusting! I thought that's what you were guessing and -" Mortified, she scuffled over to a chair and buried her face in her hands, "Oh my god, I'm so embarrassed."

"It is too," George insisted, his expression caught somewhere between anger and nausea. Not only was he force to think about Draco and Parvati having sex, he had to think about them having rough sex.

"Ugh... I mean, honestly," he shook his head. "Why would I be asking about something like that?"

Yes. All those things Draco Malfoy does to little, innocent, Parvati Patil. Tsk.

"Well, I don't know! I didn't realise your first thought would be that he was beating me! Draco isn't like that!" She argued, fixing her gaze on George, "He was so careful with me when I lost my magic, do you really think he'd do that, George?"

"I appreciate the concern, but if we're to make this work, then you need to calm your homicidal urges toward Draco. I mean, if he ever does make me upset, then I'm not going to want to tell you because you'll exaggerate it. And I want to tell you George, I want to tell you everything. I've missed you so much!"

"He's Draco Malfoy, Parvati! Of course I'm going to think he's beating you! Just because you're stupid enough to believe he's a good person doesn't mean the rest of the sane world does!" He knew he'd crossed a line there, but it was too late to stop himself.

"If he does make you upset he deserves whatever I have to say about him," he fumed.

Immediately, Parvati's temper sparked. "Oooh, you absolute git! You haven't changed at all! How DARE you call me stupid! He is not a BAD PERSON! I know he may not be kind to everyone, and he's had a questionable past - but he helped in the war, REMEMBER? And he LOVES me. He takes care of me and listens to me and wants me to be happy - who else in the world other than my family wants that for me, George? Huh? Gosh knows, not you, that's for certain! Otherwise you'd stop trying to make my life an absolute hell!"

"I'm not trying to make your life an absolute hell!" George shot back, glaring. "I'm just trying to look out for you! I'm sorry I hate your husband, Parvati, but I do and that's not going to change!" George was trying to keep his anger in check, but wasn't sure it was working.

Parvati looked like a real avenging beauty, her hands on her hips (the bracelets now once more convering the light bruises that had ignited this whole issue), and her eyes spitting daggers. "Okay, FINE but I don't want you bad mouthing him to me all the time! I LOVE Draco and it hurts ME when you say bad things about him! I never ever want to pick between the two of you, George, but as his wife I can't justify being so close with someone who constantly tears him down! I vowed to God to respect him over all others! So if you hate him, FINE hate him, just please keep it neutral when you're speaking to me!"

"Don't mock me!" Parvati snapped, noticing the way his stance imitated hers. She stormed up to him and knocked his arms off his hips.

Turning away from George, she sighed deeply. "Fine. But ONLY if you think he is hurting me. He isn't and he wouldn't. Besides, do you really think I'd let him hit me?" Parvati swirled back to face the redhead, "I have the best bloody Reducto Curse in Hogwarts and Dragon is fully aware." She smiled timidly, the humor being an attempt at reconcilation.

"If you didn't look so ridiculous I wouldn't be tempted to mock you," George replied, letting her knock his hands off of his hips.

"I don't know, Parvati. You judgement seems to impaired as far as he's concerned that I wouldn't be surprised," He admitted, failing to see the humor in he statement. In fact, the use of her nickname for Draco made him feel a little queasy.

For one maddening moment, Parvati thought about choking George. The hands she had used to shove his hands off his hips fell uselessly to her side. Brown eyes quickly dulled. "So we're back to this, then? You're going to be mean to me and call me names? Question my sanity? Maybe make me out to be some sort of cruel princess who thinks she's better than everyone? Fine, George, whatever."

She looked up at him, "Sometimes you act as if I personally wronged you by marrying him, I don't get - how is it that I did that?"

"You know, if Draco really ever did hit me, then I certainly don't think I could come to you, George. You'd make me feel like it was my fault. Impaired Judgement and all that."

Tears were welling in her eyes, making them impossibly shimmery and sad.

George sighed. He didn't think he'd sounded all that bad. Ugh, women. Especially weepy women.

"You know that's not true. I'd never make it seem like it was your fault," he frowned deeply. did she really think that?

"It's... it's not that you personally wronged me," he said, looking off to the side. Well, maybe a bit, but... "I just... I really don't understand how you could do it. And I have tried to be reasonable and understand, I just... I can't."

"Yes you would!" She shot back, "You make me feel stupid and incompetent, like I'm some brainless idiot. Maybe you don't agree with my marriage, but that doesn't mean I'm an idiot."

Parvati was trying hard not to cry and stray tears leaked down her cheeks, "You know when I was little I had a gigantic crush on you George, and you didn't give me the time of day. You had all those random dates, and that was AWFUL. I couldn't understand that but I wasn't mean to you! And I was in love with you! There is no way whatever you're feeling is equal to that, is there? So yeah, you don't get it, but STOP taking it OUT on ME!"
