Each character will awaken in a room with another character and will be missing their journals. Each will have their own very comfortable twin bed. The Room is comfortably accommodated and should the subject look into the closets of bureau they will find clothing appropriate to their sense of style and size. Each room has it's own bathroom complete with toilet, tub and shower. Each bathroom is stocked with products the character would be familiar with.

The doors to the five bedrooms all open into a large common area which includes a television (no cable; just a large collection of assorted movies and an X-Box with an assortment of games); a bookcase with various titles and genres; a large sectional sofa; a dining table; and a large kitchen. The Kitchen will have an induction cooktop stove; a large refrigerator; various appliances and copious amounts of fresh foods. The style of this room is contemporary but comfortable. The floors are carpeted and everything is modern.

Clearly, this room is intended to make the subjects comfortable. Conspicuously absent: Windows.

There is an area which is clearly a door; however, it has no handle from the inside. Over this door is a large blue sign "Departure Point." A sign on the door indicates the following.

"Thank you for your participation here at Vas Captio. This area is intended for your use and comfort. Please be mindful to be clean and courteous as this room will be occupied shortly after you leave. Further instructions as to your departure will be included as they become more final. Thank you for your patience."

The door didn't seem to bother anyone else, but it nagged at Ianto through most of the morning. After waiting to see if anything happened (aside from Remy's cooking, nothing had happened), Ianto stepped up to the door and began to run his fingers over it. He poked and prodded, hoping to find hinges or something, though he knew it was never ever that easy around here. He poked at the sign, trying to pry it up to see if there was anything underneathe. They were labrats, after all, and this was their maze. The door probably wasn't a door, he reasoned, but the next step in the maze. Maybe it was time to turn the corner in the corridor and step further into the experiment.

For all that he'd like to just blow it all up. If he could, he would have, even if it cost him his life. Just to make certain everyone else was safe and free and that this would never happen again. But, still, nothing was ever easy nor simple, here.
