Afternoon but before Dusk
Who: Martha & Merope
What: Checking on Merope
When: Afternoonish,
Where: Town-Clocktower-maybe gym
Rating: TBD
Status: Active

Closing her journal, Martha set it back in the box, pen on top of it. Shortly after Luna had left she'd tended to her own wound. It was still seeping blood, which meant it must have been deeper then she thought. Grabbing one of the extra sheet, she wrapped it around her leg carefully, trying to hold the two pieces of skin together and still wrap it effecently. She hissed through her teeth, ever minute that passed made her wish for home and it's comforts a little more. After that was done, she took a minute to breath deeply and let the pain wash away. Wishing wasn't going to magically take her home, so she forced herself to put all of her wishes and hopes for the future back into a mental box. Gritting her teeth, she pulled off her boot, the pain made her wince and gasp. After a couple minutes of poking at it just to make sure it really wasn't broken, Martha used the last bit of thin cloth she had to wrap it tightly around the foot. That'd help keep the swelling down. Gingerly she pulled on her boot again, lasing it up tightly.

Grabbing up another sheet, this one with little rainbows and flowers on it, Martha tucked it under her arm-and then, knelt down and scribbled on a piece of paper to Tink Gone to be a doctor and help people, be back soon. -Martha- And left it out ontop of Tink's box. Finally, she eased the door shut, careful not to shut it all the way least Tink couldn't get back in and started the trek to the clock tower. It was just a little past the Drug and Liqure store, and tall. So Martha didn't have any trouble finding it. As she started for the door she paused. The clock tower, in Martha's opinion was even weired then the open and empty gym. It was falling apart, as if it had been abandoned for years.

"Merope?" Martha called out, pushing the door open.

Keeping her face devoid of the horror at hearing the woman hadn't been at a hospital, Martha took another step forward. Gathering from the woman's cloths it was an easy guess that she wasn't from the same time. "What year did they take you from honey?" Martha asked, still edging closer.

Finally Martha was next to her. "I'd just like to check your pulse first, is that alright?" She asked, her hand hovering above the woman. Martha was reminded of a woman she treated, durring her first year on the floor, the woman had three broken ribs, her face was bruised and battered, but the worst of it had been the way the woman flinched, how her eyes had darted around the room. When her husband came in with flowers, and touched her head, she'd just looked...beaten. While Merope wasn't quite as lost as that, she was on the edge.

Martha offered another smile, "Well, your baby is probably fine. Still at the orphanage." Which wasn't the *best* place for a baby but it beat here. "I'm sure you're very sore."

The wind whipped through the clock tower, causing goose pimples to raise up on her arms. "Are you staying here?" Martha asked, looking around for a make shift bed or blanketss.

Merope had figured that she'd been much better off alone, but due to the anguish she was suffering, she couldn't hold onto it much longer. Her eyes moved away from Martha as she came forward, she'd always been a flighty thing, wanting to run at the nearest sign of danger but never having the ability to do so. It was easy to tell that she was rather nervous, she was also cold and she had to tuck her legs beneath her body to keep her bits from touching the cold floor.

"...Nineteen twenty six.." Merope didn't move her eyes or her body any, feeling only slightly intimidated, but not as much as she would be, had Martha been a male. "...That's alright, I guess..." Merope's hand moved to her stomach, missing the child that use to be there. "...I'm sore, I guess..--I can't pay you." Merope started to stress over the little things, her weak heart working overtime whenever she did. "I'm sorry." Merope sighed.

1926, that was a long time ago, and yet...Martha knew what 1913 had been like, so it was easy for her to imagine. Taking another deep breath, she kept her voice calm. Her hands lowering to take time. Since she didn't have a watch, she had to time it in her head. Merope's pulse was fast, but not dangerously so. More like she was nervous. "You're doing great. Just try and relax. Don't worry about paying me, no one here can pay anyone anything." She smiled again. "We're kind of all in this together."

Relieved that at least that was fine. Martha gave another smile. "I'm going to have you lay down on your back now, Merope. I have to check and make sure your, that everything is fine from when the baby came out. Okay?" She took one of the cloths she'd brought along, and laid it out on the floor. "I'll be pressing against your stomach, and I need you to tell me where it hurts the most. Okay?"

She was so unused to being touched, she couldn't relax when Martha touched her, it bothered her. Merope frowned to the statement of them all being together, because she felt that she was alone and they were together. "...I feel all alone. No one wants my company really, but it's okay, I can be alone." Merope knew this to be true, she'd been abandoned and most found her so strange that getting to know her was much too difficult. Ever since she followed Sam to that group, she regretted it, all those people giving her weird stares, making her feel unwelcome.

Merope's mental state was not in any kind of stable condition, she felt most cases of company were charity cases. Which this seemed to be, but she couldn't go another day in this kind of agony.

Martha gently asked her to lay down and she nodded, her gaunt shape laid back with a sharp groan, finding it hard to relax on her back. "I miss my baby, I miss him so much." Merope shifted until she was as comfortable as she could get and closed her eyes.
