Day Two - Late Afternoon
Who: Andy Gallagher and Sarah Vida
What: hunting and gathering
When: late afternoon/early evening
Where: the forest
Rating: PG-13 or R for language and violence
Status: Complete

After telling Luna that he was feeling restless and wanted to go out for some fresh air and move around a little, Andy let himself out of the church and only allowed himself to spare one glance over his shoulder as the doors closed behind him. He hated leaving her. Hated it. But, if it meant being able to help bring food, he was game. Andy was tired and in pain, but he was far more hungry than anything else, at this point. He couldn't remember the last time he'd eaten, after all. Who knew how long he'd been in Cold Oak; Ava had apparently been missing for months without realizing it. There was no way to know how long Andy had been there. All he knew is that he had planned on hitting up the Taco Bell down the street once he cashed his stash, but the last thing he'd remembered before waking up in Cold Oak was the fourth bong load. He'd still had one more load's worth of weed to spend, so...needless to say, it had been a while since he'd eaten. A few days, at best. Longer, at worst.

Never mind your stomach rumbling, asshole, he thought as his ear throbbed in pain at the feel of the rain dropping on the still open wound again. So long as he limped along carefully, he'd be all right with the leg. Hopefully, the wolves would still be in the clearing and they'd enter in the forest the right way. He had to assume that the situation for Luna and Sam had directly mirrored his and Martha's. He hoped like hell it did, anyway, because if not, he'd be fucked if he needed to run.

The bandages Luna had brought back from Martha were holding well and he'd stopped bleeding through them an hour or two ago, so he'd hobbled back behind the alter and into the back room, lucking out when he'd found some trash bags. He'd ripped one open and wrapped that around the wound, too, to keep the bandages dry. It vaguely occurred to him to change clothes so that he wasn't completely covered in blood when he met up with a friggen vampire, but he thought maybe Luna would catch on and stop him if he did.

Huh. Demons and vampires were real. Go figure, he thought with some amusement as he headed down the dirt road to meet Sarah. Maybe the rain would wash some of the blood out of his pajama pants and shirt. He'd had to stop every few minutes to put pressure on the wound while he'd been walking back from where he'd left Martha at the gym and the only thing to do was wipe his hands on his clothes. He looked like a freak show.

"Can't fucking believe I'm going back out in this commando," he muttered to himself.

It took a good fifteen minutes before he saw another person. A blond girl. What's with all the blondes? Fucking temptation, what the hell? he thought in annoyance. "Are you Sarah?" he called out to her.

Sarah had been leaning on the thirft store's door frame, waiting like Andy had told her to. She folded the old piece of fabric she had found at the back of the counter as something to do. The piece of fabric looked as if it was some sort of dust rag for the store. It would work for what they needed.

The rain surprised her a bit at first, unconciously she began to pull her black leather trench coat around her but gave up when she remembered it didn't matter anymore. Although it'd look weird to others seeing her wear only shorts and a tank underneath the trench coat, Andy already knew she felt nothing anymore. The thought made Sarah a little sad. Why had she been so stupid?

She smelled Andy before she heard his voice. The stench of blood stung her nose and she quickly forced herself to stop breathing. She turned to face him and looked him up and down. They guy was falling apart. He had blood everywhere and a garbage bag on his leg. She wasn't so sure he should be coming with her.

"Yeah I'm Sarah." she aproached him and offered her hand to shake. "I take it you're Andy?" She shook her head at him, "Shit...are you sure you can come with me?" a part of her wanted him to suddenly have everything catch up to him and get scared and run away. While the other part wanted him to go with her. This really should be something Kristopher should be doing with her. But having Andy was better than nothing.

By the look on her face, it was only a matter of time before she tried to send him packing, Andy could tell. He took her hand and shook it. "Yep," he replied. And there it was.

Giving her a grim smile, he nodded. "Yeah, I'm good. I know I look like hell, sorry," he apologized. Actually, he probably looked like a pretty tasty treat, when he thought about it, but he pushed that thought away pretty quickly. Hopefully, she'd keep her word and he'd keep his in reference to not using the mind thing on her. He didn't want to have to, that was for sure. Having to brain ninja Martha to move her ass when she'd wanted to stay behind and play the hero had been bad enough. He didn't want to have to do it again to someone else.

"Let's go, I'm fuckin' hungry," he admitted, nodding down the road and starting off. The limp was far less pronounced now than it had been on his way up to the church earlier, so that was a plus. Limping sucked anyway, because then you just looked like an idiot. He thought so, anyway. "Sooner we bang this out, the sooner we all get to eat. What's your plan for when we get back? Everyone's gonna expect you to mow down with the rest of us, you know," he pointed out, raising an eyebrow at her.

Sarah just nodded at him when he confirmed his name. He certainly wasn't what she had expected to end up talking to. Although she probably hung around Nyeusigrube too long.

"Why are you apologizing? I think it's safe to say you didn't ask to be mauled by a cougar." she said confused. It was a little weird for her to be talking without any breathing before or after the sentences, but she had to get used to it pretty fast if she expected him to live in her company before feeding. She shrugged, if he died getting the fruit she would be sure to bring his body back to explain what happened.

"Right..." she handed him the piece of cloth she had been holding, "This is all I could find that'll work for the fruit. I'm sure it'll be fine though." she turned around and started walking with him to the woods. She noticed the limp and how slow she had to walk in order for him to keep up with her, surprising seeing that she only came up to his shoulders; though the limp probably didn't help him with his walking. She had to force herself to pull her eyes away from his hurt leg. "I only know how to kill the animal, I hope you know how to cook it." she said, catching up to the conversation. At the question of eating she laughed, "I can eat normal human food. It probably wouldn't be such a bad idea for me to do so seeing how I still hold onto some of my witch qualities. I just don't need to eat as much." she shrugged, "I'll just say I'm not really hungry. Besides more for those who need it more than I do."

"I know, but..." Andy's voice trailed off and he gave her another apologetic look as he gestured at himself. He felt badly that he was probably tempting her. Kind of a dick thing to do, he thought with a frown.

Nodding, Andy took the cloth from her. "Works for me," he replied. He turned the cloth over in his hands and wondered if there was a way to hide extra fruit to take back to the church for he and Luna for later. Probably he'd just have to shove things into his jacket pockets. It was mostly dry when he left, but heavy with rain now. It'd be worse when he hoarded away the fruit, but for Luna's sake, it'd be worth it. What didn't kill him would only make him stronger, anyway, he reminded himself.

He looked back at Sarah when she spoke again. "Ha, yeah I have no idea, but that Shannon chick seems to know her survival shit, so maybe she'll do the honors?" he joked half-heartedly. How hard could it be? He and Luna had a pretty decent fire going, maybe he'd nab some sticks on the way back out so they could skewer the meat.

Raising his eyebrows doubtfully, Andy shook his head. "Nobody's gonna buy it that you're not hungry, Sarah," he replied. "We've been here two days and there's fuckin' nothing to eat. You have to eat something if you wanna keep up the pretense, even if just a piece of fruit, you know?" he added. Somehow, even though he'd just met her, he already felt overprotective about her secret. He knew what it was like to try to hide a part of himself from the rest of the world at large; he'd do his best to help her pull off the same feat in the presence of their fellow captives.

When they reached the tree line, Andy heaved a sigh. He really did not want to go back in there, especially as impaired as he was. Food. For Luna. And himself. He had to keep telling himself why he was here before he wimped out and left Sarah to her own devices. That'd really be an asshole thing to do, now. "Ready?"

Sarah looked at him in could tell that he was probably thinking about her accidently feeding on him. "You really don't need to worry. I stopped breathing before you even said hello." she wished he wouldn't see her like some sort of freak. She couldn't help what she was but she was getting the feeling he was a bit uncomfortable around a vampire. Granted someone who had never encountered one probably wouldn't know how to act around them.

Sarah nodded, "True she does. Aparantly she was stranded on some island before coming here." It seemed to her so far that people tended to be a little bit more calmer in regards to the situation than she had expected. It was rather confusing to her. Humans typically can't handle their emotions during times like these.

"I've only been here for one day. I just arrived this morning, I can always use that to my advantage. Who's to say that I didn't have some crazy big meal before I left?" she shrugged, "Don't worry, I'll eat some food. Probably more fruit than meat though. I know if I stop eating altogether I'll soon miss the tastes of food." she looked away from him. It was still a lot for her to process. She couldn't believe that it really hadn't been that long since she had been changed. It felt like days rather than hours.

When they reached the line she closed her eyes and listened closely to the animals' heartbeat in the woods. It was a bit difficult to determine which heartbeats belonged to the wolves, but hearing more than one she was happy that there could possibly be some other options for later days. Opening her eyes slowly a small smile formed on her face as she nodded in response. She was more than ready to get rid of the nagging pain in her to feed on the blood of another living thing.

"I'm not worried," he told her honestly. "I feel like an asshole, though, because I mean...it's kinda shitty of me. I'd have changed, but I didn't want Luna asking questions," he added sympathetically. He paused and looked her in the eye. "I'm not afraid of you, you know. I can take care of myself." It was mostly true, anyway.

Andy raised an eyebrow at the mention of Shannon having been stranded on an island before being here. "Shit, man...sucks to be her," he muttered. He wasn't even going to try to pretend that Cold Oak was worse than being stranded on an island. At least there'd been Sam and buildings to hide out in like there was here. Then again, Andy supposed it depended on the island in question. Whatever, not worth it to mull it over; he and Sarah had shit to do.

Her statement, though, caught him off guard. "Whoa, time out. You got here today?" he asked. That didn't sound good. If there were more people coming in on different days that really didn't sound good. That was some Cold Oak shit. "Fuck..." he muttered, making a mental note to mention it to Sam, in case he was unaware of that little variable. That had the serious potential to put a nasty kink in their plans to leave, if he knew Sam at all. "Hey, whatever, just eat something or you'll have a lot of raised eyebrows in your direction," he said. He was pretty sure he wasn't wrong.

Andy looked over at her, furrowing his brow in confusion when she closed her eyes and stood there for a second before opening her eyes again and smiling, nodding that she was ready. "What the heck was that? You have some kinda special spidey sense or something?" he joked as he started through the forest. The sooner they got this done, the better, as far as he was concerned.

Sarah was surprised when he looked her in the eye. Not many humans could do that even when she was a normal witch. It was strange for her to find someone willing to go into dark woods alone with a vampire as they fed. Although he could always be like those crazy humans who wanted to just be near a vampire. "Thank you." she said, and quickly looked away. Even though he could look her in the eye she felt a little weird staring at all his blood when she hadn't fed yet.

"Yeah I guess so." she nodded. Though it might be helpful for someone who had experience with this sort of being stranded at some random place sort of thing.

"I...got here today." Sarah was confused. She thought everyone had arrived that day. "Didn't you?" if she was wrong to think that they both arrived today then there were more people coming in than she had thought. There was obviously some sort of reason that they have all been brought to this place. She was starting to worry about the reason.
She threw him an annoyed look at his comment, "I will eat something."

Sarah laughed at his lame spiderman joke. "I can hear their hearts." she said looking at him from the corner of her eye. Her smile grew and she began to walk faster into the woods. She had the urge to run but she knew if she did Andy would never have been able to keep up with her, even if he had two good legs. "Where did they say they were?" she turned to ask him, "There are too many hearts to determine which one belongs to the wolves."

"Nope, yesterday," Andy replied, frowning and knitting his brow. "Most of us have been here overnight, I'm pretty sure. I really hate the sound of this...more people coming in today, I mean. That can't be good..." he muttered to himself. Still staring out into the woods, Andy missed the annoyed look, but the tone in her voice didn't go unnoticed. Looking back at her, Andy held his hands up defensively. "Hey, sorry, I'm not tryin' to be a dick; I'm trying to help you out," he insisted. "I know what it's like. Trying to hide something," he added.

Andy raised an eyebrow at her answer and followed it up with a facial shrug. "Cool," he replied. He looked over at her briefly and smiled to himself seeing how thrilled she seemed to be. He supposed he could understand; he was friggen hungry, too. "Oh, I don't know, but they'll fucking smell me, don't you think?" he asked. The idea of being bait was not appealing and hadn't occurred to him until just then as he said it, but there it was. "They'll come right to you, right?"

He paused. "Wait, time out, how many hearts are we talkin', exactly?" he asked uneasily.

Sarah stared at him surprised. "No it can't be good. That means that there really is someone that is behind all of this and trying to force us together for some reason." thinking about it longer she realized she hadn't heard the details of why he was so bloody, "If you don't mind me asking...what happened to you? You said you were attacked by an animal?"

She gave him an apologetic look when he said he was trying to help. "I'm sorry it's just...I'm still getting used to it...I know you're trying to help but no offense I know you've had to hide the mind thing but being undead and having your sole purpose to be to kill the very thing you worked hard to protect..." she shook her head sadly. Stop it Sarah! she had to stop thinking like this. No use feeling sorry for herself it wasn't going to change anything.

Sarah nodded happily. "More food for later. More things to kill so I can't hurt people." she shrugged. She had already thought about using him as the bait. Listening closer she could already hear the hearts of the animals speed up a bit. They seemed to have smelled the blood on him and were coming. She hoped it was the wolves. She didn't say anything to him about the idea of him as bait. It wasn't necesary. No need to freak him out.

She didn't look at him when he asked about the hearts, "I don't know...there's four that I know for sure. But there are a handful of others that I can hear...they must be birds of some sort because they're further up in the air."

Frowning, Andy nodded. "Yeah, that sounds about right. Jesus, this feels more like..." he let his voice trail off and shook his head. "Anyway. This is bad news. Like, really bad." She asked what had happened to him and he gave a weak smile. "Yeah, a cougar or something. It's not as bad as it looks..." he replied, nodding down at himself. "Most of this is from when I had to wipe off my hands after taking breaks to apply pressure or whatever on my way back up to the church," he explained.

Andy's breath caught in his throat and he swallowed thickly, furrowing his brow.

You say 'Simon says gimme your wallet' and they do? You have visions? That's just great. I'd kill for something like that! I touch people...and their hearts stop.

You don't understand. I... I accidentally touched my girlfriend.

Closing his eyes and turning his head slightly as if to shake away the memory furtively, Andy felt his chest constrict a little. Who the hell did he think he was, anyway? He hid his mind thing because it freaked people out. He'd never hurt anyone with it and he never would; he was in no place to imply he'd understood what Lily had been feeling then and he was in no place to say he understood what Sarah was going through now.

"Sorry," was all he could come up with, however weak it was.

"Four?" he asked, frowning. "Yeah, there's vultures. Or buzzards. Or something," he replied. He and Martha had seen them circling in the sky when they'd been tied together and were first coming into consciousness. "That means there's one animal unaccounted for," he replied. "I know I heard two wolves howling back and forth pretty far away from where Martha and I were...and then the cat. So there's gotta be something else lurking, then," he pointed out.

They were heading deeper into the forest and Andy was starting to get nervous again. The hell he was going to back out now and look like a pussy, but...he didn't like this plan anymore. Especially now that there was an anonymous threat out there on top of the three animals he already knew about. "Lead on," he managed in a croak, covering it with a cough to clear his throat. "Fuck, this weather's gonna make everybody sick..." he muttered to himself. Fat lot of use they'd be if they were all run down from colds and flus.

Sarah noticed the sudden stop in what he was saying. Though she was rather curious as to what he was thinking she chose not to question him. It would have been rude for her to do so.

As she listened to him talk about the cougar incident she just nodded and chose not to force him to relive it. She thought humans wouldn't like to tell the same story more than once. Besides the whole not breathing thing was starting to get to her. She wanted to get the blood as soon as possible.

"It's fine." she didn't look at him. She hadn't meant to rip into him and make him feel bad about it. She looked back at him, "Thanks for your help though. I'm sorry if I'm just a little off...I promise I'm not always this bitcy..." Usually. "Like I said...I've only been a vampire for a few hours..." she shook her head, not knowing what more to say. She felt bad for ripping into him like that but it was the truth...

"Yeah four." her head snapped back to him excited. "Vultures?" perhaps she could catch one of them later when she didn't have a human with her. For now the wolves would be more than enough. "I'm not so sure what the last thing is. Two wolves, one cougar, a flock of vultures...and one large ground animal as well." she shrugged, "I guess we won't know until we get there."

The rain had picked up and Sarah was soaked through. "Well if you all get sick I'll help protect you all from whatever tries to take advantage of your weak state." she offered trying to make him not so worried.

Sudenly she heard a howl close by. Sarah stopped walking and held a finger to her mouth to tell him to be quiet and closed her eyes to listen. There were two heartbeats and they were beating as fast as the animals were running. Opening her eyes she could see their shadows. "They're here." she took off her black trench coat and handed it to Andy. "Can you do me a favor and hang onto this for me? It'll just get in the way." He probably would think she is nuts wearing only shorts and a tank to go after these wolves but she wanted to run after them without a wet leather coat weighing her down. Another howl caught her attention and the frenzy in her started to slowly consume her.

Andy smiled weakly at her, although it didn't reach his eyes. That feeling he did know. "Don't worry about it. I was pretty freaked out when all this-" he gestured vaguely toward his head, "-started with me. You're fine," he replied.

"Vultures, yeah, I think that's what they were," Andy replied. His stomach flip-flopped nervously when she said there was another large ground animal. His mind spiraled around a million different possibilities and none of them were anything he'd particularly care to run into if the mind thing failed and Sarah wasn't as bad ass as she thought she was. "Great..." he said unenthusiastically, swallowing hard.

He looked back at Sarah with raised eyebrows. A small smirk formed over his lips. A vampire mother hen. Of all things... "Yeah? Cool," he replied thinking it would be at the very least not funny and at the worst would earn him a slap in the face if he said what he was actually thinking.

When Sarah stopped walking and signalled for him to be quiet, Andy froze and stiffened. Her next words caused his eyes to widen slightly as he took her trench coat. His mouth opened to ask her whether she'd freeze her ass off in the shorts and tank top she was wearing under the coat, but he closed it again. Stupid question if she was dead, right? Man, that was a weird thing to consider. "Where is it?" he asked tightly when he heard a howl much closer than he was entirely comfortable with.

Sarah returned his weak smile, "Thanks for being so understanding." she was surprised how much she actually meant it. She wasn't expecting anyone to be taking the information of her being a vampire so calm like he did. She expected a witch hunt on her if anything.

"Yeah I can't tell what though...it's just big, that's for sure." she made a face, what was the use of hearing things if she couldn't see them? She knew all vampires had different things but still...being blind as a bat wasn't very fun.

Sarah nodded, "Yeah it's no trouble really." she shrugged, "Gives me something to do I guess." she didn't bother adding that she wanted to help protect them to hopefully make her feel like she was at least not as bad of a monster as she was supposed to be. If she could at least use her new abilities to help humans then maybe it will weigh out in the end over all the death and destruction she can cause. She didn't want to think of the mistakes she could make.

"Thanks. They are together so it should be quick and easy." she said as she he took her coat, she went into a crouching position ready to attack. Although Andy was going to help make it sit still she wanted to have some fun first. "It should come from our right side...about...now!" when she said that the first wolf jumped out from behind a gathering of tree and Sarah ran as fast as she could to meet it halfway. Running into it she put all of her weight on her shoulder as she made contact with the animal's chest. Landing on top of it the animal fought to come out on top and bite her. Although she was weak she wasn't so weak to let the animal take over and kill her or andy. It did manage, however, to pull itself from underneath her and bite her shoulder. Sarah cried out at first but didn't care and grabed hold of the wolf and threw it on it's side. Leaning her elbow into it, "Do it now!" she yelled to Andy. She didn't exactly know what to call his mind thing. Referring it to 'it' was better than nothing.

After a moment Sarah heard more than two hearts near her. The other wolf was coming at them fast. She gasped and turned to look over her shoulder just in time to see the other wolf jump out to attack her. "Andy!" she yelled, as if he couldn't see the other wolf there.

Andy waved a dismissive hand and shook his head. "Don't even mention it," he replied. It was the least he could do. After all, he was unintentionally taunting her and she hadn't even so much as bitten him.

It was strange seeing her crouch like that; like she, herself, was an animal ready to attack her prey. Granted, they were her prey, but, still. She announced that it was coming and when he called out 'now!' Andy stared with eyes wide, stumbling back a few steps in surprise as she lunged at it. "Fuck! Jesus Christ!" he gasped. He was frozen there, for a few moments, watching her fight with the thing until the thing bit her and snapped Andy out of his shock. Even before she'd managed to shout at him, he was opening his mouth to do just that. "STAY!" he commanded a lot louder than he'd meant to in his vague panic. His eyes locked on the wolf as she held it down. "Stay." The echo in his head wasn't there the second time he spoke, thankfully. That hurt like a bitch, anyway. It made him absently wonder if he'd hurt Martha's ears when he'd done it earlier.

The wolf growled, looking back at him. "You can get up, now, he's not going anywhere," he told Sarah, only just as he finished the sentence another one came out from between the trees. At the same time that she yelled Andy's name, he looked over at the other wolf. "Don't move!" he shouted. The wolf landed and stared back. "Sit."

It did. Andy, a little hysterically, laughed. In fact he couldn't help himself, thinking it before he could stop himself. Lie down. The wolf let out a low howl of indignation and laid down. Andy's eyes flickered over to Sarah. He supposed he could make it easier still for her, if he wanted. He looked back at the wolf. Roll over, he thought at it and then, freeze, when it was on its back.

"Okay, hurry, because I can't hold two of them for long. For a few minutes I can, but it only works for so long without me looking right at them and since there's two of them and one of me...well...you know," he said to Sarah as his eyes moved back and forth between the two animals, one on its back looking at him upside down and the other pinned under Sarah's elbow on its side, growling, but holding still all the same.

Sarah hadn't realized that Andy had already told the wolf to stay. It took her a minute to calm down and she continued to lean on the wolf for a moment longer until he said she could get up. Although when the second wolf came out she expected it to land on her. It surprised her that Andy reacted so quickly and was able to make it stay. She had to admit she was a little impressed with his talent.

Sarah slowly began to sit in between the two wolves as she watched him make one of them sit, liey down and roll over. She started to laugh at first but when he froze it on it's back she suddenly felt rather sad for the wolf and stopped laughing. She hesitated to kill the living thing. "Could you make them close their eyes at least." she said sadly staring at the wolf on it's back.

Andy gave Sarah a wan smile when her laughter died away. "Sure," he replied softly. He looked over at the one on its back first. Go to sleep, he thought at it, frowning slightly before repeating the process with the second wolf. Looking back at Sarah, he forced another sad smile. "Don't know how long that'll hold, since I'm not looking either of them in the eye, now, but..." His voice trailed off and he nodded at her to let her know she could have at.

He felt bad for her. It seemed like, in spite of what she was and what her instinct was, she didn't necessarily want to kill the wolves after all. Like she felt badly. Andy could understand that, in a way. Not exactly, obviously, but having to kill Webber to save Tracy and Dean hadn't felt good after his body had fallen to the pavement. It had to be done, but that didn't mean Andy liked it. So, on some level, he understood.

Sarah watched as he closed their eyes and immediately felt a little bit better. Still staring sadly at the wolf she thanked Andy and started to crawl over to the one on its back. Leaning over the wolf she placed one hand on it's head and the other at the base of its neck; opening her mouth wide she exposed her fangs and bit into the wolf hard. She let some of the blood pass down her throat, getting a taste, but keeping in mind she had to kill them both first before Andy could leave she turned her head to the side violently to cut the throat in a way that would cut off the air flow. The heart of the animal stuttered a bit before it completely stopped. It took everything she had to pull her mouth away from the wolf, she didn't realize how the frenzy can consume her mind; but she managed to pull away. She didn't bother to wipe away the blood at the sides of her mouth as she turned back around to the other wolf. She pushed back her hair to one side and did the same thing to this wolf as the other.

Looking back up at Andy she felt bad he had to watch her kill them before he could let go of their minds and go to the fruit. She probably looked like some derenged killer with blood on her mouth and the two dead wolves at either side of her. "Go. I'll find you. I have to drink quickly before the blood goes bad. It can hurt me if I drink bad blood." she spoke quickly to him and then turned back to the dead wolf that was on it's back. She put her hands back to where they were before and placed her mouth on the open wound and began to take in the blood. Black and white images clouded her mind as she drank.

Andy nodded his recognition to her thanks and dipped his head as she crawled toward the wolf. Some morbid form of curiosity caused him to look up and a similar level of fascination made him watch as she bit into it and then moved her head violently. With a sickening jolt in his stomach, he watched as the wolf's hind leg twitched just once. The blood on her face when she turned toward the other, though, was too much for Andy. He turned his head and closed his eyes, taking a step back. Sleep, he thought at the second wolf weakly.

When he heard her speak again, Andy looked up and his jaw went slightly slack before he snapped it shut again, his stomach churning as he nodded at her. "Right, yeah. I'll just be..." his voice trailed off as he waved a hand vaguely in the opposite direction, backing away. When she turned away from him again, Andy turned his back on her and headed further into the forest, eyes scanning the trees. He spotted what looked like apples in one of the trees, but it was too high to reach and he was in no shape to climb. Sighing, he kept moving.

When he finally came across a downed tree, he grinned widely. "Awesome," he breathed. How it had fallen, he wasn't sure. It might've been hit by lightening, he thought fleetingly, judging by the black marks on it, but wasn't sure and he didn't care. Looking over his shoulder to make sure Sarah was still out of eye shot, Andy picked up handfuls of apples, shoving them into his pockets. Those would be for he and Luna.

Then, he spread out the cloth and started packing apples onto it before pulling it all together and tying a knot at the top to keep from spilling the apples back onto the forest floor. Leaning against a tree, he looked up at the sound of the vultures in the air screeching. They were going to be mighty pissed off that Sarah was taking some of their food options away with her and back to town for the rest of the captives. Tough shit, he thought passively as he waited for Sarah to come out to find him.

Sarah drank a little too fast than she had expected. But she had to hurry if she wanted to move on to the other one before it went bad. As the black and white memories revealed themselves to her the extra speed made it seem as if she was watching a movie on fast forward. She was paying little to no attention until when for a moment it went black then abruptly changed and it was of the animal regaining conciousness in the forest. Pulling away from the animal stared at it confused. Someone had brought it to these woods. It wasn't born here it was dropped here...

She turned to the other wolf and placed her mouth on its open wound and began to drank, still with enough speed to take it in before it went bad but slow enough to pay more attention. The first stages of woods were indeed a bit different than the ones she was currently in. Although the more she drank the harder it was to figure out who it was that had dropped the wolves in the woods she was currently in. It was distant as if the wolves were drugged when they were held captive and then unconcious and waking up in the current woods. She pulled away and stared at this wolf with the same confusion. She hadn't noticed the blood tasting weird so it was a good sign that it wasn't still drugged.

She wiped her mouth with the back of her hand and licked the smear of blood that was left on it away. She ripped the wounds on the wolve's necks further to make it seem like she had killed them that way. As the color returned to her face and her energy came back to normal Sarah felt comfortable to breath again. The blood should last her a few more days or so. She had taken in more than she needed. kneeling between the two wolves she grabbed them both and leaned them, one on each shoulder and started to follow Andy's scent.

She found him leaning against a tree staring at the sky. "Hey!" she called to him, she hadn't thought of how funny she probably looked, an average sized blonde girl holding two full grown wolves on her shoulders had to look crazy. "Find anything good?" she asked as she approached him.

At the sound of Sarah's voice, Andy looked over and immediately laughed. "You look crazy right now, you know that?" he asked, smirking and nodding toward the two wolves. "You're like a superhero," he teased, pushing off the tree and holding up the now tied-off cloth.

"Apples. They were too high in the trees, so I had to go for the ones on the ground, but... they'll do if we wash 'em. There's running water at the gym or, hell, the rain..."

Andy was ready to get back the hell to the church before Luna noticed that his walk had stretched out probably far too long. The last thing he wanted was for her to worry. Plus, he'd said he'd meet Martha and that group at the carnival. For a semi-cripple, Andy thought he was doing an awful lot of walking. Something told him that by morning, he'd be regretting it.

"Ready to head back, then?" he asked, holding her coat out to her. Then, he hesitated and pulled it back, realizing she sort of had her hands full, so to speak, already.

Sarah couldn't help but smile. She attempted to shrug but only managed to just lift both wolves in the air a tiny bit. "A superhero? Thanks!" she laughed with him. "I ended up cutting their throats more so no one would notice the bite marks. I hope you didn't see too much of that..." she said making a somewhat hopeful face.

"Apples! That's actually the fruit Shannon was talking about. Also Ryuzaki wrote on my journal that he only eats fruit so that should help as well." Sarah said looking at the bag. She was happy with the good haul they seemed to have been able to manage getting together. "Well do you think that will be enough? I can quickly run up into the trees to get more if you think we need it." she offered.

Sarah nodded to answer his question, "Yeah we should, the rain has picked up some." she looked up into the sky. "We should get this food back to everyone. They're probably all pretty hungry." looking back at Andy she almost set the wolves down to take her coat but then thought better of it, "I'll take it back from you before we end up wherever we're going....where are we going exactly?" she realized he hadn't told her where there were others to possibly help them cook the wolves.

Andy's smile only faltered slightly and he wrinkled his nose, shaking his head. "Nah, not really, don't worry about it. I turned my head," he replied. It wasn't entirely a lie. What she didn't know wouldn't hurt her and it wasn't like he was going to tell anybody what he'd seen. He doubted that even if he did, no one would believe him, anyway. Well, Luna maybe, but he had no intention of breaking his end of the deal to find out.

"Really? That works out pretty well then," Andy replied with a smile. He blinked when she offered to run up the tree to get more. "Uh. Yeah okay, if you want to..." he laughed. "And actually...I believe I'd like to see that, to be honest with you," he added with a smirk. That was something one didn't see every day...a cute blonde running up a tree. "Although maybe not right now, because yeah...the rain and hungry people probably won't mix well. We'll have an angry mob on our asses if we don't hurry up," he added with a huff of laughter.

For a second, he looked back at Sarah. "Man, when we get closer, you gotta put those down...it's gonna look weird to people that you can carry 'em. Plus they're gonna think it's nuts that you're not wearing a coat in this kinda weather," he pointed out. "I can probably drag one of 'em if you think that'd help create the illusion that you're an everyday chick, or whatever," he offered awkwardly.

"Alright, good." she smiled a bit relieved. She would have felt terrible if he had seen her feed.It probably would have made him feel a little sick. She was glad he was spared.

Sarah nodded, "Yeah I can." she laughed, "I'm sure it'd be interesting for someone to watch." she had never seen a vampire run up a tree before but she had seen them run up buildings to try to escape her.

The reminder of the others and the wolves made Sarah try to think about how long they had been gone. "You're right, we've been gone probably almost an hour or so...we should get back. They're probably worried about you." she added as she looked over his current state again.

Sarah started to walk with him back to the edge of the forest when he mentioned the wolves. "I think I'll just drop them outside the door and we can drag them from there. I'll take my coat then as well." she said glancing back up at them, "If you feel up to dragging one of them, ok. But are you sure you can with the apples as well. I don't mind dragging them both." she offered him

Once again, Andy only smiled, afraid that any other expression would betray his words. There was enough fucked up stuff going on here, seeing a young normal-looking girl rip open the throat of a wolf with her teeth would surely be forgotten soon enough. ...and was the least of his worries, anyway, so long as she saved the fangs for the animals.

"I'd pay to see that," he laughed in response. It would be a hell of a sight, he agreed.

Andy's eyes widened. Everything had seemed to happen so fast, it had thrown his own inner clock off. "Jesus, an hour?!" he gasped. "They're gonna be too busy killing me to worry..."

He followed closely beside Sarah, hefting the fruit cloth into a more comfortable distribution of weight, until they reached the edge of the forest. "I'll give it a go," he told her. "Once we get to the nearest building, I'll try and see how it feels, because never mind the fact that I'll look like a puss," he replied, only half-joking. "If I can't do it, I'll let you know, though," he added.

The rain seemed to be heavier outside the forest with the lack of trees to run interference and he looked down at his leg, glad to see that there wasn't any blood leaking out from beneath the bandaging and garbage bag. "Onward ho," he told her, looking back up at her and giving an impish grin. "Church is up that way," he added, pointing.

Sarah laughed at that, "Seriously?" she shook her head at the idea of getting paid for something that'd be easy as breathing to her.

Sarah wasn't too surprised that it had been around an hour or so. "Sorry...that's my fault. I had to have taken me at least a half hour to feed. I'm just making up the extra numbers for the getting in and out part." she did feel bad getting him into trouble with his friends but it was his own fault for going out hunting with her. "I'm sure they won't kill you..." she let herself trail off, she really couldn't argue with him, she didn't know his friends.

"Alright. You better, I don't want you friends to hate me before they meet me because I put you to work when you were hurt." she said agreeing reluctantly with him.

Sarah noticed the heavy rain that pourd down away from the trees, there was so much it was rather difficult to see. She was going to have to trust her ears as well as Andy's memory for the church. She nodded in acknowledgement to him and started to head in the direction that he had pointed out.

"Seriously," Andy insisted, laughing. "Come on, how many fuckin' times in my life am I gonna be able to see some chick scaling a tree like that?" he pointed out, amused.

Shaking his head, Andy waved a dismissive hand. "No, it's cool. You were quick and anyway I wasn't waiting that long after getting the fruit, so I took my time, too. Hopefully the lectures will be short-lived once they see food," he replied, giving a cockeyed grin and shrugging.

Once they'd gotten close to town, Andy took over dragging one of the wolves and looked over at her. "Here goes nothin'," he said with an impish grin before leading the way back to the church as fast as his limp would allow.
