Day Two - Late Afternoon
Who: Andy Gallagher and Sarah Vida
What: hunting and gathering
When: late afternoon/early evening
Where: the forest
Rating: PG-13 or R for language and violence
Status: Complete

After telling Luna that he was feeling restless and wanted to go out for some fresh air and move around a little, Andy let himself out of the church and only allowed himself to spare one glance over his shoulder as the doors closed behind him. He hated leaving her. Hated it. But, if it meant being able to help bring food, he was game. Andy was tired and in pain, but he was far more hungry than anything else, at this point. He couldn't remember the last time he'd eaten, after all. Who knew how long he'd been in Cold Oak; Ava had apparently been missing for months without realizing it. There was no way to know how long Andy had been there. All he knew is that he had planned on hitting up the Taco Bell down the street once he cashed his stash, but the last thing he'd remembered before waking up in Cold Oak was the fourth bong load. He'd still had one more load's worth of weed to spend, so...needless to say, it had been a while since he'd eaten. A few days, at best. Longer, at worst.

Never mind your stomach rumbling, asshole, he thought as his ear throbbed in pain at the feel of the rain dropping on the still open wound again. So long as he limped along carefully, he'd be all right with the leg. Hopefully, the wolves would still be in the clearing and they'd enter in the forest the right way. He had to assume that the situation for Luna and Sam had directly mirrored his and Martha's. He hoped like hell it did, anyway, because if not, he'd be fucked if he needed to run.

The bandages Luna had brought back from Martha were holding well and he'd stopped bleeding through them an hour or two ago, so he'd hobbled back behind the alter and into the back room, lucking out when he'd found some trash bags. He'd ripped one open and wrapped that around the wound, too, to keep the bandages dry. It vaguely occurred to him to change clothes so that he wasn't completely covered in blood when he met up with a friggen vampire, but he thought maybe Luna would catch on and stop him if he did.

Huh. Demons and vampires were real. Go figure, he thought with some amusement as he headed down the dirt road to meet Sarah. Maybe the rain would wash some of the blood out of his pajama pants and shirt. He'd had to stop every few minutes to put pressure on the wound while he'd been walking back from where he'd left Martha at the gym and the only thing to do was wipe his hands on his clothes. He looked like a freak show.

"Can't fucking believe I'm going back out in this commando," he muttered to himself.

It took a good fifteen minutes before he saw another person. A blond girl. What's with all the blondes? Fucking temptation, what the hell? he thought in annoyance. "Are you Sarah?" he called out to her.

Andy waved a dismissive hand and shook his head. "Don't even mention it," he replied. It was the least he could do. After all, he was unintentionally taunting her and she hadn't even so much as bitten him.

It was strange seeing her crouch like that; like she, herself, was an animal ready to attack her prey. Granted, they were her prey, but, still. She announced that it was coming and when he called out 'now!' Andy stared with eyes wide, stumbling back a few steps in surprise as she lunged at it. "Fuck! Jesus Christ!" he gasped. He was frozen there, for a few moments, watching her fight with the thing until the thing bit her and snapped Andy out of his shock. Even before she'd managed to shout at him, he was opening his mouth to do just that. "STAY!" he commanded a lot louder than he'd meant to in his vague panic. His eyes locked on the wolf as she held it down. "Stay." The echo in his head wasn't there the second time he spoke, thankfully. That hurt like a bitch, anyway. It made him absently wonder if he'd hurt Martha's ears when he'd done it earlier.

The wolf growled, looking back at him. "You can get up, now, he's not going anywhere," he told Sarah, only just as he finished the sentence another one came out from between the trees. At the same time that she yelled Andy's name, he looked over at the other wolf. "Don't move!" he shouted. The wolf landed and stared back. "Sit."

It did. Andy, a little hysterically, laughed. In fact he couldn't help himself, thinking it before he could stop himself. Lie down. The wolf let out a low howl of indignation and laid down. Andy's eyes flickered over to Sarah. He supposed he could make it easier still for her, if he wanted. He looked back at the wolf. Roll over, he thought at it and then, freeze, when it was on its back.

"Okay, hurry, because I can't hold two of them for long. For a few minutes I can, but it only works for so long without me looking right at them and since there's two of them and one of me...well...you know," he said to Sarah as his eyes moved back and forth between the two animals, one on its back looking at him upside down and the other pinned under Sarah's elbow on its side, growling, but holding still all the same.
