There was a quick click, followed by a soft whirring noise when she tweaked the last part fully into place. Panels, hones, wires, main storage unit...well, it was not pretty, but it should work.

It had taken her a little longer than she had initially estimated, but the water heater powered by solar rays was complete. Sure, it would only power (at most) two showers at a time (a generous estimate), and (when she checked the heating rate) would take several hours for enough water to be really available to be used, but she was done. At least for the time being.

Feeling accomplished, the mechanic planted her fists on her hips and studied her frankenstein device. Even if she did not know what the reference really pertained to. That had been lost to the ages for most.

"Right, justice." Personally, Rorschach was reminding her more and more of Early, and that was not a comparison she wanted to be around. Or like Dobson, before and after he had shot her for simply asking what had been going on. Unconsciously, one of her hands moved to her lower abdomen, over the barely noticeable scar left from that bullet. And that mask, it was frightening all on its own.

What else could she do but try to put his seeming paranoia at ease. Naturally Kaylee saw the best in everybody, but she really was not sure what she could find in this man. Especially when she could not see his face.

With a stiff half of a nod, she turned back to the device she had built, carefully removing the front panel to show him. Turning her back on him did not feel right, but what else could she do? The mechanic took a step aside, "See, nothing that'd hurt anybody. Unless they stuck their hand in the middle of it, I guess, some pieces are sharp." Please don't mess up my work, she thought to herself.

Rorschach watched carefully as Kaylee removed the front panel, hunching his shoulders forward like a crow. Even though Kaylee had her fears about turning her back to him, he made no further movements, either toward her or away, seeming fixated on his business.

"Perhaps should post warning, for safety. So that no one puts hand inside." Without another word, he turned and started to walk away, apparently satisfied.

It really was not just that a foul-smelling, masked man had appeared out of nowhere to grab her. Well, not all anyway. More that he had reminded her of something she really would rather not think about. Then again, the whole mask thing? Who wouldn't freak about having someone in their face that they could not meet their eyes. There was just something fundamentally unsettling about not being able to look him in the eye.

"Yeah, I-I think I can do that," how, she had no idea at the moment. Her thoughts were mostly bouncing on the subject of not wanting him around. When he walked away, without so much as another word, Kaylee breathed a sigh of relief.

Thank Buddha he was leaving.
