Good Afternoon.

I was told that I can contact others in this community by means of this device. The technology here is quite different from where I woke this morning, but it seems very user friendly easy to understand and adapt to. I do have a question, however: are many fingered creatures considered part of the normal forest wildlife? If so, how does one go about not encountering them?

Luckily, the many fingered hands are considered an anomaly and should dissipate hopefully dissipate within the next few days to weeks. In the meantime, you'll likely have to rely on a combination of caution and luck to avoid them. There appear to be less in the city, and those that are in the city seem to be of a smaller variety than those in the forests though.

It is an unfortunate time to arrive.

That's good to hear. I'm glad that these creatures are a passing phenomena. I'll likely be sticking to the city for now, then. Thank you for the tip! The creatures do not seem to be magical, but I admit I've never seen anything like them. Dead or alive.

It seems that way. Luckily my guide was able to navigate us to the city before we encountered any of the larger variety.

I can't imagine how they've come to exist if not through magic, though I haven't ever seen the kind of magic that might create something like this before. They do not seem something natural however. Those that wear a ring, too, seem to have some magical ability.

That's fortunate. Will you be staying at Morningside Manor? The apartments seem to have some protective magic about them; they're often the safest place to be in these situations.

Hm, you raise a good point. I was thinking less about their origins and more about their characteristics. Perhaps it's the ring that animates them or it could it be a magical artifact. Is there a market here for those kinds of things?

Yes, I believe that was the name of the apartments the guide mentioned. Do these situations happen often?

I would lean more toward a magical artifact of some sort than something key to their reanimation; I've been avoiding having a closer look at these particular creatures, but I don't believe all of them bear the rings. But there are a few markets for such things here. The Fairy Market is typically a good place to look, though I'd familiarize yourself with their customs beforehand. I've heard the Night Market has several interesting artifacts, but I've not yet been lucky enough to go myself; I understand humans are less welcome there.

There are a number of shops that sell magical items as well. Uncommmon Goods and Glorious Purveyors both have fine selections.

As for frequency of these attacks, it really varies. Sometimes we'll have some weeks apart, and sometimes it will be a little longer. There's usually some sort of magical anomaly every few weeks though.

That is... quite the selection of markets. I admit with the familiarity people here seem to have regarding mysticism, I expected at least one or two. Do Uncommon Goods or Glorious Purveyors have any similar requirements for entry?

I see. Are they always hand creatures?

Yes, magic here is as common as nearly everything. Much of the world itself runs on magic; I can't see how it could sustain itself without it. But no, neither of the shops have any particular requirements for entry.

No, this is the first we've seen of these particular creatures. We tend to get a large variety of monsters that visit from other dimensions.

I'll have to make a point to visit them. After the creatures leave, of course. Are you familiar with the magic of this world?

Variety is the spice of life, even when we would rather our porridge be more bland. Do the monsters leave anything behind, such as those rings?

I won't call myself an expert, but I've been making a study of the local magic of this world this last year, and how it interacts with the magicks of other worlds.

Occasionally they do, though most often items from other worlds are returned to their own worlds when the being that brought them are no longer present here.

Like Edwin said they'll likely peter out over the next few days but your best bet is to stick in the city over the forest until then. There have been attacks in the city though, so its better to still be vigilant.

If you do encounter any and can't handle them, make a post on here and we'll coordinate others to come assist.

I'll keep that in mind. Thank you for the advice! It seems I shall be sticking to civilization for the time being.

Admittedly, my hand-to-hand combat training seems a bit lacking with creatures of this size. Do they have any weaknesses I should be aware of?

If you can't fight them then they're not fond of fire. But some of them can also dole out a paralysis spell that can be difficult to shake off before they attack.

Fire, huh? I have a box of matches in my pocket, so I'm sure I can figure something out if need be. The paralysis spell sounds like the most difficult part about facing them. Especially unprepared.

You might need something a little more than matches. Like, flamethrower more.

A flame thrower? Would a pillar of flame suffice?

The smaller ones don't appear to be capable of it, but the bigger ones can. You'll want more than matches when facing them.

So more fire than a normal torch. Got it. Do you know of any other weaknesses so far? I'm sure it's too much to ask that they be susceptible to mere bullets.

No, the finger-things are definitely not a part of the normal wildlife, thank god. Just stay out of the forest and away from the ships and you should be fine.

Welcome to Vallo.

Thank you. I think.

Do they even have the ingredients for oxtail soup here? The sooner the better. For my apartment as well as my stomach.

New world, new rules. I appreciate the welcome all the same. As Emperor Roselle probably stole once said, "Pain is inevitable; suffering is optional."

Some people who come through here are suspicious and I can't blame them for that. I took it and so far it hasn't come back to bite me on the ass. I also agreed to join the Defense Team because I'm a sucker so take that as you want.

I'd say stick to the city but Soups Soups Soups Soups got attacked so that idea might be out. Morningside is well protected so if you got an apartment you're probably good there. If you see a giant-giant-giant hand, just let us know! Sometimes they come from bigger ones that we have to destroy.

Welcome to Vallo! There's only something trying to kill us about 40% of the time, I swear.

Fair enough. I can't claim to be eager to take up arms against weird creatures from the unknown. However, I think I could make a hole or two in a wet paper bag. Perhaps even one that is only slightly moist.

I've never been much of a collector myself, but I get your point.

Preparedness is vastly underrated nowadays. Hm. I suppose I should say in my days, not nowadays. This place seems to have a 'now' completely separate from what I've experienced thus far.
