We can't change what's already happened in their timeline, Noct. We can only decide if I go to try to keep something worse from happening and hopefully make a better future for us here and now.

Then they can't get us back. There's a risk of it, they said they're doing what they can to minimize it. If they're alive at the end of it all they send us back the same way they got here. But it sounds a lot like if us in the present fail to find that simulacrum thing and the group in the future fail to defeat Interitus none of it will matter either way. We'll all be gone.
