Tonight I sat outside of Morningside Manor for hours. I needed to be outside. I haven't gone on my nightly walk since this mushroom business started. I was thinking about home. I miss it. I miss the familiarity even if I would be gone for stretches of time.

Claudia's sketch pads and the doll she slept with showed up in my apartment last week. They were sitting on my bed when I returned home one night. At first I thought I was hallucinating, then I picked them up. I don't know how they got here or why, but they have brought comfort and sadness.

Sorry you're missing home. I'm missing my home too.

I think the sketch pads and dolls might have been a gift from Vallo. I had something from home show up too, my dog.

If you'd like, I could try to have a vision to see how they got there.

I'm sorry you're missing home as well. Doesn't make things any easier.

A gift? Does Vallo often give such gifts? I've not even been here two months and this is a first.

Are you a psychic? I mean, that would be kind of you if you could, but I don't want to trouble you.

I wouldn't say often, but it does happen. Occasionally, people will mention things from home that have shown up here.

I have a type of magic called shine that gives me visions. It's no trouble. You should know that I'd have to touch the objects and I might get visions of more than where they came from.

That's interesting and amazing.

Is shine magic common where you're from? Thank you, I'd like you to try then. I only ask that you not share with anyone else anything else you might see.

It's common in that a lot of people have a little bit of shine and don't know it. They call it their intuition or instincts, but really it's their shine telling them what will happen or how someone is really feeling. Powerful shine like mine is rare. It might be genetic. My uncle shines too.

No problem. I can keep anything I see secret.

Interesting. I've never heard of shine, but I know all about intuition and instinct. I imagine such a gift is a gift, but has its drawbacks as well.

Thank you for understanding.

It does. Bad visions, nightmares, seeing ghosts can all suck. But the good stuff outweighs the bad. Especially when I can help people.

That sounds very unpleasant. I hope you have someone you can talk to or some sort of support for that part of your gift. That's good to hear. Helping others is always good.

I have my uncle. He's not here with me, but I remember all the coping strategies he taught me and all the cool tricks too.
