I am pleased to announce that The Art of Expression has been given the honor of hosting an exhibit of beautiful paintings that are currently visiting from the land of America in the year 1965.

If you are a follower of the work of Edward Hopper or simply one who enjoys bold colors and loneliness put to canvas, do come to visit our gallery space. As these works are from another place and time, we do not know how long they may be with us. Should they become permanent residents of Vallo, they will find permanent housing

The exhibition will open with a First Look reception today, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., and will be open to the general public starting at 9 a.m. tomorrow. Attendance at the reception is free (though donations are always appreciated), but tickets are required to prevent overcrowding. Tickets may be acquired on the Art of Expression website.

The caterer will have the reception food ready for pick-up at 4 p.m.. Would you be kind enough to organize picking it up?

On a personal note: are sea shanties popular music in anyone here's home world? They are my most recent musical interest, and I fear I will bore my household to tears with my conversation on them. (I believe Laurence is pleased, however, that my latest topic of musical research is something that he recognizes as music.)

I can assure you that I'll never tire of hearing you go on about the songs of my boyhood.

I am glad to hear it. I know some of my other musical fascinations in the last year have been a bit trying for you.

I don't think I will ever understand the appeal of the one with all the screaming, but I will never complain much of you discovering new things to pique your interest.

I appreciate your tolerance of my musical curiosity, so much that I will not attempt a lecture on metal music's exploration of the limits of the vocal instrument and the musical value of pure expressions of emotion. :)

I thank you for your restraint. I would be very happy to listen to whatever lectures you've prepared on the relative merits of the sea shanty.

Perhaps you might take me to view these new paintings of yours as well, when you have a moment free.

Ah, now there is a very different exploration of the vocal instrument! The recordings I have heard produce such very fine harmonies, some with no instrumental accompaniment at all - to do so requires great skill, as much as any composer for multiple instruments. And then to have learned that this form originated from people who had no musical training at all! As a musician myself, I am amazed. The lyrical content is interesting, as well; I find myself frequently amused that the number of songs about the sea as a terrible and trying place seems exactly equivalent to the number of songs about the sea's glory and majesty.

Please do come to the reception this evening. I think you will enjoy these paintings very much. There is one of a house that I cannot walk past without taking a moment to appreciate it again.

I imagine that's because the terrors and the trials of the sea is likely equal to her glory and majesty. I am sorry we've not the opportunity for a proper sea voyage in this world; I would have liked very much to have shown you someday. But I am glad you're enjoying the songs so much, and digging up so many I might not otherwise have heard.

I will be there, I promise you.
