This is all very nice, but I need a pound of titanium, a pound of aluminum, a cup of nitroglycerin, paper, and a pencil before this idea slips my mind. I didn't leave my wedding reception to not get this alloy figured out. A little assistance, please?

They don't just give out nitroglycerin to anybody that asks, I've tried. Frowny face.

I can't very well test a missile alloy without an explosive.

Where were you even going to test it? Did you just get here? What if you try to blow up one of the buildings? What if you try to blow up ME?

You wouldn't be able to but I'm an innocent young girl mister so don't even try it.

I hadn't gotten to finding a testing location yet, and I have no interest in blowing up you or any buildings here. I was just brought here in the middle of an important experiment, and I'll get on with the rest of my problems once it's finished.

Toph Beifong, Vallo's leading Metalbender.

Yeah? If you like explosives at least you aren't LAME. They are picky about that though, everybody yelled at me when I wanted people to shoot me to test armor.

If you've reached the point of human testing, obviously you have to test on yourself. Anything else would be unethical.

It certainly sounds like it to me. What did the others think you ought to do, if not getting in the armor and taking a few test rounds?

Of course it is. I don't suppose Leoni's here, is she? I really do need that nitroglycerin.

Akdjdjjejd I need Nikolai here

Not exactly. I was in the lab at the Little Palace, then I was here. I was told something about dimensions, and it does seem very interesting, but as nobody seems to be in danger I would like to get this test finished first. I think I have a solution to our “titanium is expensive” problem.

Should I tell you? There is a great deal I need to explain to you about dimensions but you should know the reception was a full year ago for me and a great many things happened and what I need right now is to know where you are because I need to see you immediately.

So we've moved in time, as well? I suppose the timeliness of this experiment is no longer essential, then. I'm sitting on the steps of the building that houses the Department of Outlander Affairs.

And then some. When I was dropped here, it was just after Alina and Mal had gone into hiding. I’ll explain more in person.

Not the wedding, the wedding reception. And I did mean to come back as soon as I figured out the right combination of aluminum and titanium.

And now you're here. But it looks like your wife is too. I'd lose my shit if I get sent to another world without my husband.

I'd actually hoped she was safe at home and my only issue was getting this formula finished and then getting back to her. But then, I don't think I've ever lost my shit before, if I'm understanding the local slang correctly.

Well, that's going to be a problem. Unless, of course, if the alterations to time mean that the worlds we came from can't miss us. My wife has just informed me that she's gone a year without me, while I'm quite certain I saw her less than half an hour ago. If that means that our worlds don't know we're missing, then I suppose it doesn't really matter that I'm here, because I'm also there.

That's the assumption, based on that exact kind of situation a lot of people have experienced. Sometimes we wake up with new memories of shit that will happen after the point we left home too.
