WHO: Pixie and Thor WHEN: Tuesday morning WHERE: New Asgard WHAT: a magic accident
It had started off with little tricks at first. With Wanda's encouragement in engaging Pixie with her interests - magic, in this case - Thor had started delving into his own innate abilities, ignored for so long because he had sought to be his father's son over learning under his mother's magic. But connecting with it now, letting Pixie show him what she learned in school so he could parrot it back to her and help her practice that way, it felt like the warm memory of his mother was looking out for him.
"So what's this spell about?" Thor asked, as he peered at the magic books Pixie had spread out all over the living room of the newly rebuilt cottage Thor and Lucifer had somehow managed to pull together. There had been some near misses, but when they had stopped goofing around and started to get serious about the project, it had come together beautifully.
“It's a glamor spell!” Pixie told him. Which wasn’t really something that was needed persey in Vallo, but she was still interested in learning it. No one here seemed to care at all about how anyone looked or what people could do. She didn’t need to hide her wings or wear contact lenses to change the blackness of her eyes to something that people would consider ‘normal’. It was a nice respite from her own world. Especially the lack of killing her friends.
“You’re supposed to be able to change just a little of your appearance or a whole bunch of it depending on what you want to do.” Her professor had suggested they start off small, with eye color or something, but Pixie had never been all that good at starting out small.
Thor had dabbled in glamour spells before, just recently assisted by Atreus in his hair dye adventures through magic. But to do it on his own would be new, so he smiled and looked away from the pages he had been reading. "Alright, it's up to you. As you kids say, do we go big? Or do we go home?"
Like that was even a real question. Pixie quirked a brow. “Have we really even tried if we don’t go big?” Changing something small like eyebrows seemed like really small potatoes. They were not small potatoes people. “Plus it can’t be as hard as the shapeshifting one! We’re not trying to actually change what we look like. Or into an animal.” Though she definitely wanted to try that out one day.
Maybe this was why they got along so well. Thor had never really believed in doing anything at half rate either. Closing the books, he started to stack them off on the side. "Okay. You first or together?" It was like a contest, seeing who could manage a spell first. In a lot of ways, Thor was as young as Pixie, when it came to magic.
“I say we do it together!” They were going to be changing their features in different ways so it felt like the best way to do it. It was nice having someone who wasn’t forcing magic down her throat but was encouraging her and doing it with her. Way better than trying to learn from Illyana. “Should we go on three?”
It was probably an error on Thor's part to imagine Khal Drogo in his mind's eye, with the way reality seemed to warp around the Outlanders. But he has thought nothing harmful could come of imagining the man who shared his face in a popular fantasy series. After all, he was trying to copy the look, not the personality…
"On three then," he agreed easily, getting the other man's face firmly in his mind's eye and calling on that innate magic that lived within him. "One, two…three!"
