New years resolutions... Do you make them? Do you not? Do you keep them or forget about them a few months into the year?

I don't generally make them. Also, taking suggestions for movies to watch during late night insomnia bouts.

I love the idea of resolutions! Self-improvement can happen any time of year, though. I suppose they're more fun when you involve dancing and festive drinking, however.

It absolutely can. I think a lot of people like the idea of resolutions, but find it hard to follow through. I've know few who actually do. Resolutions involve dancing and festive drinking?? Have I been doing it wrong? Or do you mean making them during the holidays?

Making them during the holidays, yes. No one's going to go through a horrible famine and go "I think I need to be improved"; it's only after wanton revelry that restraint starts to sound like an ideal path.

For what it's worth most of my resolutions are silly things about keeping a private journal and dreaming of benchpressing my friends. Any reason why you don't bother with them outside the general likelihood of not keeping to them?

What's restraint? Heh I suppose that's true. Though I would think after going through something bad is when one would want to make change or improvement.

A private journal? Do you like writing? Or having a place to pour your soul and secrets into? Maybe I feel like I don't/didn't have the time. Back home life was never dull. I'm just as flawed as the next person. I'm sure I could use some improvement in areas.

I suppose it depends upon the person! Sadly I'm not grand at giving up things I like, but more power to those of us who are.

I do like writing, but I'm not in the habit of it. Too all over the place. I don't think there's anything wrong with not making resolutions, mind, I was just curious. I do feel sorry for those of us who set their standards so high and fall short. Very discouraging.

It really does. Same here. Maybe that's why I have a hard time making resolutions. Could also be I can be stubborn.

Personal writing? Or something like stories, poetry, etc? Oh, no, of course there's nothing wrong with making them. I just don't see the point when chances are I won't keep them. That's not always a bad thing. Better to aim high than low.
