Does anyone else have random conversations about things, and then facebook starts hitting you hard with ads on whatever you talked about? It's a little bit creepy. Not that I have anything against tea, ever. But I haven't been searching for it online or clicked on anything for it. But because I talked out loud to Dad about seeing a video of tea changing color, facebook is giving me ads about tea and only tea.

This is 100% why I disable Siri/Alexa/Google. I have no interest in the 'listening' mode at all.

I understand the idea behind it, but when you have an interest in true crime and a very dark sense of humour, it's decidedly dangerous.

Now I wonder if it can tell the difference between the owner of the phone talking or them just listening to a movie or tv show. Imagine just minding your own business and the fbi suddenly wants to talk to you because Nick Cage just decided to steal the declaration of independence.

It would be interesting. It would also kind of prove that the NSA are bugging us. Which is almost worth the shock factor of the FBI raiding your movie night.

In this scenario, does the fbi at least replace any snacks I spilled in the shock of them raiding my movie night?

Oh, never. The FBI would deny they'd even been there or that they were responsible for your snacks. You'd need to file a civil suit to get them to reimburse you.

Well, that's just rude. I mean, so is illegally barging into my apartment because they were wrong about what they heard while tapping my phone.

The FBI definitely aren't known for their politeness. They'd kick down your door and then tell you it was your fault.

Technically, it would be Nick Cage's fault.

Isn't everything that man's fault?

I don't know if everything is, the murder hornets earlier this year probably weren't. After all, they are bees.

I think we could still blame him for those.

Tea changing color?

It was blue, they added lemon juice, and it turned purple.

I will gladly start forwarding all my ads to you, or at least start tagging you in them.

And suddenly I'm worried about what I'm going to see on my facebook ads next time I log in based on the conversations I have with my sisters.

I mean. Wish ads tend to be questionable for everyone, I think.

No, it's just infamous what their ads tend to be like for almost everyone.

I've had that happen. Only for me it was about some makeup line that my best friend and I were talking about after seeing some of the reviews on it.

Isn't that just creepy? That sounds like such a specific ad to see right after that.

If you look a lot for makeup online, I can see them just making sure you had plenty of general ads on it. Most of Dad's ads are. It being the specific one you guys were talking about is what makes it weird.
