I thought I'd try making cookies today because I just wanted some. Followed the directions perfectly. The edges were burned and the insides were still raw. And this is why, Mom, you really don't want me to learn to cook. I'd just poison myself and everyone around me.

I'm more of a "cut the center of the film and stick in the microwave" kind of girl usually.

For the convenience or because cooking isn't a strong suit?

Not judging. I wasn't very good at it either. Probably still not. I'm good with a barbecue but my wife is the chef of the two of us.

At our house, it's usually my best friend's dad that cooks.

Hopefully whenever I meet someone, I meet someone who cooks. Otherwise stouffers lasagna every night would get very old very fast.

Have you ever considered taking lessons? Might also be a good place to meet someone.

I work, go to college, and act. I don't have time for formal lessons. My boss is volunteering to teach me so long as I don't catch his stove on fire, though.

That's a good start. It's not as scary as it looks, I promise.

Except when things wind up burned and raw at the same time?

Invest in a meat thermometer. It'll save a lot of the guess work. Trust me.
