I thought I'd try making cookies today because I just wanted some. Followed the directions perfectly. The edges were burned and the insides were still raw. And this is why, Mom, you really don't want me to learn to cook. I'd just poison myself and everyone around me.

...Minako I'm going to teach you how to cook. Starting with things that require absolutely no stove or oven.

I know in sims videos I watch, they always start their sims off with salads. Although unlike sims, so far I haven't set anything on fire.

So it's going to be slightly less of a challenge than I was anticipating.

You were expecting things to explode?

Always Minako. I always expect things to explode here.

Around me or just the OC in general? Because if it's the second.... that's probably a safe thing to worry about.

Mostly the second.

It has given us reason to worry.

At least every other month, sometimes twice a month.

Pretty sure you didn't follow them perfectly if they turned out that way.

Hey, I did what it told me to! Not my fault the stove hated me.

That could explain the uneven cooking.

Shouldn't the temp be the same all the way through the oven, though?

[info]curiousalice

No. It's going to be higher closer to the cooking elements.

....That's a dumb design.

Don't blame me. I didn't design it.

It would make more sense, to me at least, to have the heating element along the back wall.

Worst we'd have to do is replace it if you did.

Yeah, but they have things out at Christmas it's hard to find the rest of the year.

Baking is a lot harder than it looks. It's more of a science.

It was not mine either. I much prefer cooking. Easier to fix errors if you add a little too much of a certain spice.

For the convenience or because cooking isn't a strong suit?

Not judging. I wasn't very good at it either. Probably still not. I'm good with a barbecue but my wife is the chef of the two of us.

At our house, it's usually my best friend's dad that cooks.

Hopefully whenever I meet someone, I meet someone who cooks. Otherwise stouffers lasagna every night would get very old very fast.

I work, go to college, and act. I don't have time for formal lessons. My boss is volunteering to teach me so long as I don't catch his stove on fire, though.

Invest in a meat thermometer. It'll save a lot of the guess work. Trust me.
