I am still getting used to these devices, but it was recommended that I try to find new ways to socialise outside of school.

My name is Wanda, I am a student, I have recently been relocated to America in the last few years and meeting new people would be rather nice.

I may start adopting cats if I do not find something to do with myself.

That does sound like a bar saying to stop people feeling like they drink alone. I haven't really been to many bars. I suppose a free drink would be rude to turn down.
