Okay I'm just going to go ahead and say it now - Die Hard is not a Christmas movie. It is a movie that takes place at Christmas and that is a completely different thing.

Someone at 20th Century Fox is wrong.

I think that's just you.

Look, it's all about family togetherness, and there's even a Christmas miracle scene with an epic Christmas miracle score. The soundtrack is Christmasy. It's 100% Christmas movie material.

No. It's about fighting terrorists. It's a terrorist movie taking place over Christmas. Completely different thing.

Alright, first of all, they weren't "terrorists." They were sophisticated thieves who posed as terrorists to carry out their robbery.

Next you'll be saying Home Alone isn't a Christmas movie.

Alright fine. It's a heist movie taking place over Christmas. Still not a Christmas movie.

And yeah - it's not one. It's another movie taking place over Christmas.

Seriously?

So what exactly do you consider a Christmas movie?

Seriously.

Gremlins. The Grinch of course. Nightmare Before Christmas.

How is Gremlins of all things considered a Christmas movie when Die Hard and Home Alone aren't? It's just a monster movie that happens to take place during Christmas.

Because the little thing that kicked it all off was bought and given as a Christmas gift.

And the whole thing that kicked off Die Hard was a Christmas party.

Check and mate.
