If people want to walk into my lab making absurd claims, they better be able to provide me with peer reviewed scholarly sources when challenged or be prepared to do actual research and then write me an essay on why they're wrong.

Bloody hell. I even tried to given them a way out by offering that they may be conflating issues. But no.

Stated that the policy of Appeasement was because of the belief of 'antifascism being as bad if not worse than fascism', were conflating Stalinism with antifascism and ignoring the German-Soviet Nonaggression Pact, said there was no verifiable proof that the reasons for Appeasement came from a history of appeasement working before, concerns about economy and military strength following WWI, public opinion polls from the time. My offer of them conflating their claims with the fact fascist governments will attack the press and make any form of dissent being seen as a threat to create that idea in the population of the given state was shot down as wrong while they were right, etc.
