If people want to walk into my lab making absurd claims, they better be able to provide me with peer reviewed scholarly sources when challenged or be prepared to do actual research and then write me an essay on why they're wrong.

Bloody hell. I even tried to given them a way out by offering that they may be conflating issues. But no.

First it was how the policy of Appeasement was because there was a 'belief that antifascism is as bad if not worse than actual fascism', followed by claiming that there's not proof that it was because of a history of appeasement working before, concerns on military numbers and economy and public opinions, along with conflating Stalinism with antifascism, conveniently ignoring the German-Soviet Nonaggression Pact.

Yes, that is absurd. Let's just ignore that Britain was engaged in war a mere six months later, and that had nothing to do with antifacism. It sounds like a supporter of Agent Orange wanted a platform to be an 'expert' about Antifa.

Bloody idiots. I even asked if they were conflating the fact that yes, when a fascist government takes hold, they attack the press to sway public opinion of that state that dissent is dangerous. But no. They were keeping with that absurd line of argument.

I find that a good portion of time, 'scholars' like that don't even understand the terms they're throwing around in an argument.

They clearly don't. There is quite the disconnect between their work in a lab and common sense and trying to appear more knowledgeable than they actually are.

You see it with arguments pertaining to socialism all the time - yes, I understand you may not support socialism, but why. And then it's revealed they don't even understand what it means.

But alas! It seems like a good night for a glass of wine.

I feel it can go either way, there's far too much nuance that people don't grasp that they instead just use broad strokes without having any understanding.

It really is.

Indeed. Or they just repeat what they hear and get stuck defending it.

Indulge! And let me know if you would like something from Prague, where I currently am.

And any valid concerns that get brought up that should be debated are treated as distractions.

I just may. And how exciting. I've always been intrigued by their mechanical puzzles if you happen to find one.

It's quite frustrating, isn't it?

Ah, of course! I can certainly find you one. Ježek v kleci is the most popular!

Brilliant, thank you!
