Summer is here and I am missing my brother a lot. I suddenly don't have school to keep my thoughts occupied throughout the day. I would appreciate any ideas to keep me occupied over the coming months if you have any?

Sailing. Perhaps fishing, or spotting mermaids.

I have considered sailing, but I am worried about falling in. I'm not a very good swimmer and I worry I'd drown.

Sorry but fishing has never appealed to me. I don't like the idea of sticking hooks in fish's mouths, taking photos with them and then throwing the back in. It is all very...gross, I think is that right word. :P

Normally I would say mermaids do not exist, but living here has made me stop saying that. Do you know of mermaids here then?

I'll take you out if you'd like. Nothing would happen to you, promise.

And bloody hell, who throws the fish back in? I eat them. Nothing beats a fresh bit of seafood, roasted right.

I don't know of any here, besides the ones who terrorised my houseboat around this time last year. They didn't survive, however, and dead merfolk tell no tales.

If you're sure I will not end up in the water then I would love that! Thank you! When could we go?

I saw people in a fishing competition and assumed that was what all fishermen did. I am still not sure I could handle the fish though, so slippery and wriggly!

That's rather grim. They attacked you? I thought mermaids were supposed to be lovely, like Ariel.

Whenever, love. This weekend, if you'd like?

They can be a bit slippery, aye. Luckily sailing's possible without the slimy fish aspect.

Ariel is lovely, but no, generally mermaids are quite vicious. At least they are in my dreamscape.

Sounds perfect! I have no plans other than studying.

Then sailing certainly sounds like the better route for me, at least for now :)

Well, I guess you learn something new everyday! I will make sure I avoid any and all mermaids in the future!

Come on by my houseboat office, then. We can go from there. Say around 10 am on Saturday? It's in Newport Beach. [address]

Great, thank you very much! Should I bring anything? Would you recommend wearing anything in particular?

Just bring yourself, that's quite alright. If you've got a swimsuit, try that? But comfortable clothes ought to do.

Volunteer work. Visiting the beach. Hunting.

Ooo! Volunteer work! That's a good idea! Where to start I wonder?

Start with a cause that's important to you.

Or at animal shelter, because of the cute.

I suppose orphans are close to my heart, can you volunteer at orphanages?

That is very true, I do not know how volunteers do not take all the animals home though!

I think you volunteer as a mentor to kids in the foster system or group homes. And you can make care kits for when they're sent to a new foster home.

I wouldn't have room for them in my dorm, that's how I do it :)

Hmm, what makes a good mentor I wonder? I would need to see if I need any qualifications to be considered fit.

No, I could not foster, not yet anyway. I do not have the resources to look after a child. Maybe someday though...

I think anyone who cares can do it, like being a big brother or sister. I don't know though.

No, I just meant you could mentor one or make them a care package.
