After very literally months and months of hassling myself, I've finally decided to cave in and sign up for this network. So, let's see. It looks like introductions are customary, so I'll do my bit.

My name is Remus Lupin. I've lived here practically my whole life, so I know it can be a bit inexplicably odd at times (it seems like you talk about that a lot here, I thought I'd save myself from the warnings). I'm in my penultimate year of undergraduate studies at UC Irvine. History major and English minor. I'm sure I've seen some of you around? I think that's really all there is to say other than I like tea and pizza.

Thank you.

The words contemporary history are a bit of oxymoron, but really, history is happening every day. It is just as important to learn about what happened in the same century we were born in as it is centuries long past. Perhaps even more so because we are experiencing it and sometimes don't realize it for what it is.

Yes, it's remarkably fascinating. Particularly to see how events not all that long ago shaped the present day.

I hope this isn't a strange question, but what exactly did you do after you graduated?

Not at all a strange question. Originally I wanted to be a historian. My mother is an archaeologist and after graduation I traveled with her a little bit before coming back here. About a year ago I acquired a little antique store and I own and run that now.

I can't at all think of what I'll do when I graduate.

An antique store must be quite quaint, though.

That's alright. Many students aren't certain what it is they'll do when they're finished school. What made you decide to study history?

But it's hard on the nerves to not have an inkling.

Oh ... I don't know. I don't really remember. I'm not very good with sciences, and I have no artistic ability at all, and history is fascinating.
