Tonight was the first time I lost my job because of demons, the first time I killed demons, and the first time I've ever smoked a cigarette because demons.

Jesus, take the wheel. I'm done with today and probably for the rest of the month. Even if there's only a couple days left.

This entire comment expresses my exact sentiment, actually. Did you make it to your friends alright? Nothing was miraculously resurrected in your trunk?

I did, yes. I stuck around while he put gloved hands where no one has ever gone before. It was interesting, at least.

I think I owe you more drinks, just because.

I'm a little curious about his findings. Is that terrible?

The feeling's mutual. Next time we'll be properly bathed and we'll smell like human beings.

Not at all. He basically put the slop into a bucket and kept the...important things? I'm sure he'd be glad to share what he finds.

I do appreciate smelling like a human being. I probably smell like books, tobacco, and coffee but it's still better than smelling like actual Hell.

Like the organs? I wonder if they had several hearts. Or stomachs. Something like that must have an abundance of weird insides, because what I just combed out of my hair did not seem entirely normal.

Considering what just assaulted our noses, I'll take all three of those any day. And coffee is actually supposed to help eliminate bad odors?? I should put some in a spritz bottle and go to town.

I didn't even think to ask but when he cracked open the chest cavity it stunk up the barn and the stench probably could have peeled paint off the walls. ...Another scalding hot shower, coming right up.

Coffee in a spritz bottle sounds brilliant, actually. Espresso beans, cleanse our nasal cavities, please.

That's revolting. I don't know if the imagery conjured the memory of the smell or if I just still stink. Or both. I should just apply bleach to my luffa.

Or bathe in coffee, because that might actually work best.

I don't know what a luffa is, but it doesn't seem like a bad idea either way.

Or bathing in coffee. That actually sounds like a good way to deal with the end of the world.

End of the world? You think? I thought it'd be more 'black skies, seas of blood, locusts' or do you think we just haven't reached that point yet?

I should not find humor in the fact that there's a hole somewhere that these monsters are coming from, so that just might be me still in shock.

I'm waiting for the locusts, personally. Literally any second now.

I've also been looking into the idea of 'how to close a portal to Hell' but it's naturally very complicated, as you can imagine.

Ask and you shall receive? I think?

Studying for your exam and studying for ways to close a hellhole. You've got your work cut out for you. Remember, you need brain food. Avocados, grains. That ALT you never actually got...

Well, I don't know if this is me asking, really...

I'll never look at avocados the same way again. But now that you mention it, breaking for food is probably wise.

No, that's probably more like jinxing...

If you've got a stomach for sustenance after all that, you're a brave man. But you've got important things to do. Eat! Drink water. A little less coffee.

Quick, throw salt over your shoulder!

Basic needs, those are important too. Food, water, yanking my new grey hairs out with tweezers.

To cover my bases, I'll do just that.

Grey hairs? You're a little too young for those, aren't you?

Can't hurt. Especially not here.

A little. It's a dream thing, I think.

Well, if it helps you feel better, maybe you can say there's just starlight in your hair.

Or pluck them, but doesn't that make more appear?

That does make me feel better. A bit. Anyway, I'll add new jobs to my research and send you links. Maybe there will be something appealing while the diner's being overhauled to not resemble complete and utter wreckage.

You're the second person who has said that. I thought that was an old wives tale??

You don't have to, but it'd be much appreciated. I'll take anything that doesn't involve a pole or happy endings, please.

I don't know, actually! But I'm sure it just makes you look that much more wise and scholarly.

I think I can handle that. No Disney princess gigs, then?

Distinguished, or something. Maybe so. Tweezing them is a pain anyway, because they just keep appearing.

Why, do Disney princess gigs involve poles and happy endings?

In all seriousness, I get my fill of royalty from the dreams and believe me when I say those outfits are itchy. I can't imagine being a Disney Princess would be a comfortable thing.

Embrace them! If they keep appearing, then it's probably a losing battle anyway.
