I'm pleased to announce that Lu Qing will be putting out its new line this summer. It's a great time of year to enjoy the night, do a little stargazing and breathe in the summer air. Why not add a little sparkle?

Our Cosmos line will include pieces that evoke images of the stars above us, the night sky, and some of our artists' favorite constellations. I'm very excited about it myself, because I got to craft quite a few of the pieces on my own. I hope you'll enjoy them as much as I enjoyed them - and the range includes quite a few affordable selections.

Why should the rich have all the fun, mm?

Diamonds are often the same as stars, I think.

There are some astronomers who liken them to Diamonds on Black Velvet, a theme which I've been exploring in some installation art in my studio.

Diamonds don't quite twinkle with that same living presence, but I feel as if someday we'll find a way to make even gems glow as if some light was trapped within them, instead of merely reflecting it.

Have you? I hope it was pleasing to the eye. Taking on the mantel of my father's company has been a very... bracing... endeavor. I have to confess I was worried for a little while.

I confess I wasn't familiar with your line, but your pieces are beautiful. Do you do gem resets, by any chance? I just inherited a precious stone and I want it set in something, but not broken up.

We as a company don't often take commissions, but I personally would be delighted to have a look at the gem and see what I could do with it.

It's a good sized ruby, a good two or three inches wide, but it must not be broken up. I can't put into words how much value it has to me. I'd be grateful for anything you could try.

How exciting that you got to work on a few pieces of your own as well! I can't wait to see them.

Very good that some are moderately priced. Having to shop on a teacher's income can make things difficult.

You should start seeing it in the stores sometime in June, I hope. All of the pieces are handcrafted, even our more affordable ones, so the supply is moving only as fast as my jewelers can manufacture them.

I think Diamonds should be a thing that everyone gets to enjoy, not just that one piece of jewelry or two that you lock away safely. We worked very hard to create pieces that looked stunning and elegant but weren't bank-breaking, and you should start seeing those in department stores.

Not just the upscale ones, but JC Penny, Kohl's, Sears should have some stock when it all goes live.

Affordable as far as nice jewelry goes, but not too expensive - I like to think that if you saved up a bit out of each paycheck you could easily buy one in a month or so, depending on how much money you wanted to put aside.

I suppose the affordability to you will depend on how often you break things badly enough to ply your mother with sparkling jewelry!

I believe I've heard of you before. Unfortunately it's not for your jewelry making skills. Rather, it's because you've donated to a few galleries that I'm aware of.

That's very admirable. I wish more people would donate toward the arts.

Oh yes, funding the arts is very important! Have you been to the Laguna Beach art district? I've been so pleased to see that the artists there are not simply creating gorgeous pieces but also make a good living selling them.

It's such a rare and glorious sight. I recently opened up my own studio there - For my own personal jewelry and art pieces. The reception has been very nice, so far, and I'll likely continue to donate to local galleries and museums.
