Damon Salvatore is complicated. ([info]flipstheswitch) wrote in [info]valarnet,

There are those days when my head will not stop pounding once the bell rings.

I was out walking the halls, and stepped back into my room to find two students in it and his hand was up her skirt. Okay, I get it, but NOT in my room. I also have to laugh a little just because I did something like that six years ago when I was in school.

I need a drink.

Yeaaaah...that's always awkward, walking in on that.

I don't know. It made me feel really, suddenly old. It's kind of hilarious, in this really awkward, deja-vu kind of way.

My brother would bring girls back to our tiny apartment, forget which room was his, and start shagging them on my bed. With me still in it.

It's weird that it's almost a fond memory now. Heh.

Yeah, that - I've never done that. The one time my brother walked in on me, I was with his girl. I'm not sure which is worse actually. Did you give your brother the boot at least?

My memory is one that we have gotten past.

Yeah he rectified the situation once he realized what he'd done. Being caught with someone's girl's a bit more complicated. Been there, too. Glad you got past it.

It took a few years, and a lot of bullshit to get over that. My dreams are a little bite of karmic hell, since my fiancé is my brother's girlfriend in them.

Here's something even funnier. My brother's old girlfriend, the one he walked in on, and my fiancé are identical twins. I think it's time to give Jerry Springer a call.

That IS some Jerry Springer shit, man. My brother and I didn't end up swapping girls, but I did walk in on a friend once. Eh... awkward.

Yeah, better than 90 percent of reality TV. My fiancé and her twin are very different, and I don't even think of them as sisters.

I got one better. The sister was the one that turned my brother and I into vampires in our dreams.

I have met a lot of fantasy-type character dreamers, but no vampires, yet. You're the first.

There are a lot of vampires. My brother and in-laws are all playing the fang game. There are some others too. Some have become actual vampires. I seem to be the next in transition.

Apparently, I don't get out enough, but I was pretty well-aware of that already. Are you like cool with the transition thing, or is it like a bad thing?

I've been told that I need to get out less. I actually am pretty cool with it. If it's going to happen, I want to get on with it. I was never one to be half in or half out of the pool. Just jump in or don't bother.

I waver. Sometimes I'll be full tilt... and then usually something goes tits up and I regret it. Haven't found the right speed yet.

I get it, man. I don't think I will ever find the right speed, but full tilt all the way. I didn't say it always works. I usually find a way to fuck up.

I've seen a lot worse. I spent a year in a frat house in college, which explains a lot.

Things are worse there, aren't they? Yeah, I saw Animal House. It made me feel uncomfortable.

It wasn't as bad as Animal House. Well - it was bad though. I can't lie about that. There is some crazy shit going on there. I did survive, but killed quite a few brain cells in the process.

I can literally not imagine. I'll be going to college next year, but I'll be staying away from frat houses, thankyouverymuch.

Go to a party there at least once. You will be fine. Drinking like a brother is optional. You won't be attacked either. It's just fun.

They are, just go with friends who have your back, and you'll be fine. Believe me, a lot of guys want the girl to remember it, and have fun, not be some drugged zombie.

So have I. I was standing there thinking I was the world's biggest hypocrite. I'm 23, not 50. I feel so old having to be the 'authority figure'.

When the age difference is only a few years, it makes things a little bit awkward.

Very, especially since I am supposed to be one of the cool teachers. Yeah, I'm cool, but not in my room. I still can't quite get over it.

No. Four. I went to UC Irvine right out of high school. In my 4th year of college, I was student teaching, tested during the summer and got hired by the same school.

That's all it takes. Major in history, minor in education. It's only a 4 year program if it's done right. I didn't want to spend more time at school than necessary.
