Hannibal is really quite excited for the dinner party. He hasn't had one in far too long, and has taken great joy in preparing everything just so. Mischa's desserts are in the kitchen, to be served later in the evening, and the staff he hired are setting up platters with his various amuse-bouches.

Hannibal himself is dressed in one of his best suits, a step up from his usual fare but a step down from opera black tie. Hopefully, his guests will understand what 'black tie optional' means and dress accordingly.

Glasses of wine and champagne are circulating, and there's a small bar set up should anyone require something other than that. There are a few staff members lingering in the foyer to open doors and take coats, if the need arises.

Now all he has to do is wait for his guests.

After apologizing to her brother for the initial snub to spirit the forgotten dessert into the kitchen, Mischa had sought out the familiar face of her extended family.

"Abigail," Mischa gently smiled, giving a small kiss to each side of the young woman's check in greeting before stepping back and taking her hands to admire the beautiful dress. "You look simply radiant. How are you?"

	Smiling, Abigail looked down at her feet before accepting the compliment. "Oh, thanks. Hannibal got the dress for me, it's really his taste that's so good." Mischa's brow momentarily furrowed at what she read as Abigail's bashfulness? Oh dear, had she been too forward with the young woman? Still Mischa smiled and squeezed Abigail's hand encouragingly before releasing her hands back to her custody.

"You wear it beautifully. For a moment I thought myself back in Paris," she bubbled warmly before picking two champagne flutes off the tray for herself and Abigail. "I have been busy with the close of the semester and holiday orders, but well enough," she answers offering a flute to Abigail. "Thank you for asking."

There was no denying there existed an unspoken awkwardness between the two women, who were still very much strangers connected by their love of Hannibal. Although, Mischa did not wish to acknowledge it, she was more or less bewildered as how to bridge the distance, but had resolved herself to be loving, patient, and supportive presence to the young woman.

"How did your school year progress? Have you made plans for your summer holiday?"

Mischa graciously smiles, tipping her glass against Abigail's, and then sips her champagne with the measure of her thoughts.

"Magnifique," she cheerfully bubbles, awkwardness momentarily forgotten. She was overjoyed Hannibal and Abigail were going to visit the Lecters' second home. "You will adore Paris. Shame I sold my house, you both could have stayed there. But Abigail, you must promise you will make Hannibal take you out of the city. Paris is beautiful, but the countryside has hidden treasures to be savored."
