Current mood: bouncy
Entry tags:belladonna rogan, philippe

Who: Belle, Philippe, and the babies
Where: Élysée Palace
When: early in the afternoon
Rating: low

Belle had both the kids in a stroller, and they were happily babbling in a mixture of Creole and English, while Belle smiled and greeted people in French. She was happy to be back in one of the cities she loved, even if it wasn't her home. And seeing the palace again was worth leaving her weapons behind.

The girl became quite excited when she saw the palace, her eyes going wide as she stared. The boy, who had been grumpy all day, continued to be grumpy. Taking what little enthusiasm she could get, Belle smiled and led the kids up to the security check point, trying not to look too guilty.

Who'd have thought that a former assassin would ever be invited to bring her kids to play with the leader of a country? She sincerely hoped this went well, since Philippe seemed a little lonely.

"Bonjour!" She said cheerfully to the guards, telling them who she was and why she was there.

Belle nodded, touching his shoulder gently. "I was pulled from my time too. Guild leader. Was able t' put a rivalry t' rest dat'd been started well before your parents were born, 'n' I'm from two centuries in the future. I know how dat feels, even if my job was smaller. Can only hope my loved ones make it through okay."

She looked thoughtful, for a moment. "But none of the past makes the present any less important or worthy."

"Very wisely put." Philippe answered, nodding a little, watching the children. "So how old did you say they were?" A lighter change of topic was most certainly in order.

"About eighteen months. They were born on October twenty third."

She smiled, shaking her head a bit. "Hard t' believe it's been over a year already. Doesn't feel like any time at all, really. Like I might wake up one mornin' and realize it was all a dream."

"They are absolutely adorable." He pointed out with a smile, eyes glimmering in the sunlight. One day he certainly wanted to have children and maybe in this new world he'd be given the chance.

"Thanks. They're smart, too. I'm constantly surprised athow much they soak up. I mean, beside knowin' two languages they already seem t' know a lot more about people 'n' the world than some adults do. It's amazing."

She smiled widely, watching as Marcus chase Angela around. "The whole world looks different when you've got kids. Hell, even bein' married changes how you look at things."

For a moment she was quiet, and then she turned back to Philippe. "You'll have your chance a it. You're a good man."

"I sure hope so." Philippe replied with a soft laugh, running his fingers through his hair. "I'd love to be a father some day. To watch kids grow, learn and explore the world... and this is the place I'd want them to grow up in, I think. This world has so many more benefits for them."

"God, yes." She nodded emphatically. "I love my home, but I wouldn't take de kids back there t' save deir lives. Bein' a hereditary leader is bullshit."

She laughed a little "No offense intended."

"None taken." The young man shook his head and then tilted it back and looked up at the sky, smiling. "Gorgeous day."

"It is." Belle watched the children play, enjoying the sunshine. "What do you think of this time?"

"It's interesting. Amazing, I guess, would be a better word." He replied, nodding a little with a smile. "I mean, the amount of knowledge available in seconds is... unthinkable."

She giggled a bit. "This time is incredible. It's only twenty years in my future, and there's some shit I wouldn't have ever dreamed of here."

"Yeah?" He nodded a little. "I mean, I've found I really like automobiles. They are amazing. The speed and the art built into it."

She smiled. "Cars are beautiful. I love cell phones the most though. So sleek 'n' functional, connection at the push of a button."

"I'm afraid I'm still terribly confused by them. Too many... strange buttons and such. I didn't even know what a phone was, let alone one of these." He pulled his cell phone out of his pocket, holding it up.

She giggled. "I was confused at first two. But I figgered it out quick enough. I'm sure you'll get the hang of it."

"I hope so. It's apparently very important for a President to know how to use it in case someone needs to get a hold of me." Philippe commented.

She snickered. "I left it at home as much as possible. But now. . .my calendar, all my knitting circle stuff, Alex's hours, most of the important information I need is all on a tiny thing I can also use t' call people with."

Technology was amazing.

"You knit?" Philippe perked up a bit. "That's neat. I've always wanted to be able to make things but my advisors said it wasn't appropriate for a man to be doing a woman's work." He just shrugged a bit.

She made a face. "France is a lovely country, but it's sometimes too entrenched in its traditions."

The conversation was interrupted when Angela fell, landing on her back and head in the pool. Belle stood, using her powers to lift the little girl up, relieved by the child's cries which were loud and unhappy. At least she was okay.

Philippe was started when the child was lifted without touching her. "How on earth...did you do that?"

Belle blinked and cursed. "Uh? It's. . ."

Oh, hell.

"It's just somethin' I picked up as a girl."

Okay, so things were a lot more complicated than that. It was the basic truth.
