Who Keller and Beecher and Alex
What Drinks and etc.
Where A bar in Chicago
When Tuesday eveningish
Warning Srsly? Beecher and Keller Luuurve each other. And are messed up. Nuff said?-but will play nicely with Alex there. Promise.

Being legit sucked. Chris had been making all the efforts he could to be as such, trying to do all his work, make all his payments, ecetera, and it blowed. Chris hadn't really ever tried to be clean, had ever tried to be on the more legal side of things, but here he was, doing paperwork for a meeting he had with some guy over a permit to sell alcohol at the new restuarant.

"Christ," Chris shook his head and sat back in his chair in the office he had in his house and shook his head, rubbing his face tiredly, "Fucking blue collar bullshit," He muttered, standing to start putting together the papers. It had been about twenty minutes since he spoke with Toby over the boards and he supposed he probably had kept the guy waiting long enough. Really, he had lost track of time, getting lost in a form's small print for a good ten minutes. But, he got it settled, he got it finished and he shoved the files he needed into a shoulder bag, grabbed his coat and keys and headed out, locking his door with a glance around as he did. Still habit to make sure no one was waiting in the shadows, what could he say? And after the surprise drop in by Stabler, Chris wasn't really taking any chances on dropping his guard. At least not for a little while.

He walked to the bar he had told Toby to be at, stepping in with a nod to a woman who was leaving, his eyes scanning over her as she passed. Seeing as he had had tits not a week ago, it was actually more of a 'I was hotter than her' glance than anything. Go figure. His gaze then set to looking for Toby, wondering if the man was already waiting for him. That thought made him smile, actually, and he almost hoped Toby was. Since the being a woman thing (which, admittedly, Chris never thought he would have), Chris had had moments, brief pauses, where he thought 'maybe it's okay'. As simple as that. He had always been comfortable letting his love for Beecher be known, when it came up, when it was doubted. But maybe he could let it be known all the time, shown all the time. Short moments of 'maybe' had been invading his thought processes, and it was starting to get to Chris. Mind, he had also been doing paperwork a lot, alone a lot, so perhaps that was it. Chris thought of the weirdest things when alone, or so he reasoned.

All that aside, Chris was looking forward to a drink. To just relax. And his body showed it as, even though he still looked like he was looking for someone, he also looked like he was happy to just be in the bar. Anything but fucking paperwork.

"It's going," He went for casual, tapping his bottle on the bar to the attention of the bartender who came to take Chris' order.

Chris gave Toby a look for that, taking a moment to even acknowledge the bartender before ordering, "Same," He said as he pointed at Toby's drink, waiting for it to put down the money, watching it be taken as he had a sip.

"How's the studying?" He tried again for something more to talk about.

The hand not cradling his beer moved to rub at his eyes. "Also going, more slowly than I'd hoped. I'm sick of all the fucking reading. Maybe I'll just fuck it and go back to school for a semester, do it that way."

"Well, why the fuck not?" Chris said, eyes darting to the door before back to Toby, "I mean, if it will help, right?"

"Yeah, I know. Just hadn't really planned on going through that extra layer of bullshit." He noted the look to the door, and quirked a brow. "Expecting someone else?"

Chris raised his eyebrows, "I was talking to Alex and she said she might drop by," He looked Toby over for a moment, "Though it's a fucking shame I won't have you to myself for a while. Fuck, maybe we can slip off to the bathroom for a while after," He smirked and leaned a bit closer to Toby, hand moving to settle on his thigh-a distraction from the fact that Chris had invited Alex along, really. Well, she had invited herself in a way, but Chris hadn't been against it.

Alex had left the office early. Not a care in the world about the time. Right now, didn't matter. Nothing did, except that slice of space where 'forgetting' was good.

She found the bar Chris had mentioned and as much as she was trying to hide it, she is still rather distracted, very unfocused. It may take her a few minutes to find Chris.

That left it up to Toby to point her out, pausing in his conversation to nod over at Alex, giving Chris an incredulous look, "Is she high or something?" He kept his voice low enough to not be heard by anyone but Chris, but his face probably betrayed his skepticism.

Chris looked up, standing slightly to wave Alex over, though his head dipped to speak in Beecher's ear, "He boyfriend fucking disappeared, Beecher, and probably isn't coming back," He smiled even as he said those words, standing up straight to look at Alex as she came over.

"Hey you. Glad you made it."

"Yeah, me too. Some asshole down the street almost lost his nonexistent balls when he made me an offer I had to refuse." Surprisingly, she says this with what, today, would pass for a smile.

"And how are you, Chris? Toby? Nice to see you again."

Toby just smiled and nodded, turning back to his beer. Not intentionally being rude, but something about her- and the way Chris spoke to her- put him off. So, he'd let the two settle in, until he was inebriated enough to handle that.

"'Atta girl, Alex, you shoulda given him more than a piece of your mind," Chris pointed at the stool beside him, "Sit down." He sat back beside Beecher, noticing the man's silence and finding it interesting, but not saying a word about it before looking back at Alex, "I'm fine. Fucking up to my eyes with shit over opening up this new place in Cali. Also got your friend, Stabler, riding my ass over getting his kids a dog," Vice versa, actually, with the riding the ass thing, but not like he needed to share that.

He would have to talk to Toby later, to tell him that staying in good with Alex was a good thing, about how it was another plan. Even if Chris actually didn't mind speaking with the woman, didn't mind her in the least, really. He didn't want Toby doing something stupid to get Chris back for having a friend. Mind, that was something more like what Chris would do and not Toby, but still.

Alex snorts - a delicate sound from a feminine nose. "One more word out of him and instead of meeting you for drinks, I might be calling you for bail money." Clear indication that she is not having a good day. A.D.A.'s do not normally have vicious violent streaks that they openly admit to - to anyone.

She peers around Chris to Toby. "What's eating you?" Then to the bartender, "Scotch. Neat." She'd ask him to leave the bottle, but that just seems crass.

The question got her A Look. "Long day, sorry. Not feeling too talkative," With that, he turned back to his beer, shrugging a shoulder. "Gimme a few, and I'll tell you all about it,"

Chris laughed at the exchange, enjoying the odd air of confrontation for a moment before his attention went back to Alex, though as his body turned, his hand brushed against Toby's back, a little touch for no particular reason than to let the man know Chris still wanted him there. One could call it affectionate or one could call it possessive-Chris wanted Toby there at his side, even if he was talking to someone else-it was their choice.

"So, what's going on with Thomas?" Truthfully, Chris was curious. He wanted to know how people up and disappeared, what it looked like when it happened, etc.. Just in case.

Alex shrugs and downs the Scotch in one shot, sliding the glass back across the bar for a refill. Damn McCoy and his stashed bottle and offers of post-lost-case drinks in his office. Not that those ever turned out the way he had planned them - Alex always left before that.

"I don't know. We were test driving new bikes, we had dinner, we went to bed, woke up the next morning, went to work, but when I got home - no Thomas. Not that that's the unusual part." A glare to the bartender who isn't re-filling fast enough. "No, the unusual part is he didn't show up at all that night. Didn't call. Didn't message. Didn't send smoke signals. Nothing. After two days, he's either captured, dead or gone. Captured or dead, I'd've heard something."

"It's only been two days, maybe he needed a breather," Or maybe whoever took him was crafty. It'd taken two weeks for them to find out about his kids. He didn't voice that, though, simply chugging the rest of his beer and waving for another.

Chris glanced at Toby, nodding a bit, "Man's got a point, Alex," Chris said, having a sip of beer, "I mean, I used to take off now and again for a few days here and there," When he wasn't in jail and forced to stay put, "Maybe he's just, you know, doing that. Didn't you say he worked for the government? Maybe he's on some mission or some shit like that?" Chris Keller, comforting his female lawyer friend. This had to be some sort of novelty for anyone who knew him aka Toby.

"Not since we had plans."

She sighs. "Good effort though. Really, I'm pretty sure he's gone. Too coincidental with the others who've suddenly disappeared."

This is going to make things a whole lot worse.

"There's more?" He sounded incredulous, plowing into his second beer to brace him for her answer. Chris could probably tell by his posture, he wasn't exactly enjoying the discussion, but he was putting an effort forward. It was the least he could do.

Frankly, Chris found it funny, the way Toby was acting. Like a neglected wife at a party or something. He'd have to make it up to the guy later, no doubt. Which of course would involve getting Toby to admit to his actions and then mocking him to be followed by sex, but still. It was how it went.

"Who else?" Chris questioned, wondering briefly if maybe Stabler had disappeared. Hey, he was Alex's friend, right? And she was acting like she lost all of them. Maybe.

She'd lost quite a few, actually.

"Um," she rubs the back of her neck, "aside from Thomas, both Houses are gone, Ray's gone, his girls, Mark, Mark's girlfriend, Karen Davis and Peter. There may be others, but those are the ones I'm sure of. Just 'poof' gone." She downs her second drink in one swallow. "And it wasn't a kidnapping or just random departure. Peter was sub-letting my old place and all of his stuff is still there, but he's gone. No sign of forced entry or exit, no sign of a struggle. Nothing. Just - gone."

After that, she'd stopped counting and looking. That was depressing enough.

"I'm sorry for you," And that, he actually sounded sincere in. He knew the pain of losing family- the names, the way she said them, they sounded like family. Even if he didn't like her, he could emphathize. It was his way- even Schillinger had earned his sympathy, after losing his son.

"Shit, Alex," Chris raised his eyebrows, "That's fucking nuts," Not like Chris was known for being deep, for offering insights in time of need.

"Well, hey, not that it's any fucking consolation, but you still got me around. Toby here. Stabler, his partner, all that, right?" He also wasn't known as an optimist, either. Fancy that.

"Better than nothing." She hoists her latest drink and downs that one too. She'd ordinarily be a bit more diplomatic, but the diplomacy got left behind in Manhattan.
