Charles carried the last box into Jean's apartment at the school. She didn't have a lot of stuff, but was still a move. He sat down in a chair for a moment, taking a glass of water from Jean.

"Thanks. I hope this place will suite you." He looked around. It was a nice little apartment, but it was a bit small. Temporary until she found a place off campus.

What an unexpected and accidental twist to the knife, Jean mused, keeping her face impassive. Destroying stars was usually seen as super-villainy around most parts, but there was no reason for him to know that.

"A few, although I expect I'll find a good deal more now that I'm here." She knew the next part was tricky, but in good conscience she had to at least broach the subject.

"I've noticed that Erik is here as well?" She wasn't sure why she asked it as a question. It was obvious he was, and what the status of this particular friendship was. She certainly didn't care about that as far as things typically went, but Magneto had dedicated his life to destroying everything Charles worked towards. At least, in her world he had. To say this was an awkward situation wasn't even close to strong enough a phrase.

	Charles smiled at the comment about making more friends. It was good to know things were going well for her. "Yes, he is. I guess you would know Erik as well." He smiled at her, feeling just a little unsure. She seemed to be acting as if she was walking on eggshells bringing the subject up. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	It was new behavior for her. He stopped himself from just reading her mind. Probably wouldn't go well. "Not the same Erik? What do you mean?" She was being very ominous and it made him nervous. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	"Erik has been through trials, which you know. Things got worse as time went on. And you and Erik took... different paths." She swallowed, finally meeting his gaze. "Some would say even enemies. Charles listened to her, turning away when she said 'different paths.' He tried to keep calm and listen to her, but he wanted to stop her from talking. He took a deep breath and forced himself to hear what she had to say. She obviously cared about him, or she wouldn't even say anything. It made sense. Erik never believed they could all live in peace. He nodded, looking back at her. "T.Thank you for telling me. I know that can't be easy for you. Maybe that was who he became, but things are different here." Were things all that different? He had killed Sebastian.

	Jean reached over, placing her hand on his. "I know this is going to sound trite, but before, he never had you." At least, Jean was going to assume that. She had never picked up that from either man, and she was rather well placed for such things. "And this isn't that world. Being faced with hatred every day changes a person." 	Relaxing slightly, Jean nodded. "I hope for the best for you. For both of you. You are one of the two most influential people of my life." She never counted the Phoenix as a person, plus she wasn't sure how much Charles understood of it. He'd never asked her, but then again the force was lying nearly dormant since she'd arrived. 	Jean smiled back, standing up. "I'm sure you have other things to catch up on. Really, thank you for the help today. And I'm sure I'll meet tons of people here."
