Alice was actually a bit nervous, and her fingers itched for a cigarette. She'd long since quit, but at times, when she was nervous, she still longed for the calm that nicotine gave. She hadn't been on a first date since she'd met Dan, and that had ended up quite poorly. But Kon was cute, and he was sweet. That even came out in text. It had charmed her enough to want to find out more.

She paced in her jeans and white men's button-down, shivering a bit. She hoped she'd recognize him when she saw him.

	Alice had to laugh. He was cheerful. It was a lovely change after Dan's gloomy moping. She reached out to hug him, wondering how he'd react to touch. 	She looked up at him, giggling. "Sorry. I call everyone Buster." Which wasn't completely the truth, she usually only called men she was interested in Buster. She took his hand in hers and went a bit further down the street to the glossy black car that was waiting. She opened the door and ushered him inside. "I replaced someone with money. Hop in." He grinned and squeezed her hand gently.

"My name is Kon-El, but people call me Conner."

He smiled softly.

"I like you calling me Kon."

He nodded.

"I am a clone, of a hero... who was an alien and a hero."

He took a breath.

"I died, on my Earth, facing an alternate universe duplicate of myself. I have always tried to do my best, to be the best I can, to just... help people, when I could? Sometimes I was selfish, sometimes I was crazy, sometimes, I was plain weird, but... I always tried."

He was honest. Blatantly, scathingly, amazingly honest. He'd told her about his low points as well as his high.

Maybe he was someone she wouldn't have to save. He already knew he was messed up, maybe he'd just be normal with her and let himself be fucked up right along with her own fucked-upness.

She bit her lip, looking at her hands. "People call me Alice, but my real name is Jane. I'd like it if you called me that. Nobody's called me that in years. I - I've lied, but only when it didn't matter. And i love people too much. And I can't leave people I love. I don't really care about material things, and whenever I get scared or hurt I run and I run fast." She didn't know why she was telling him so much, but she just couldn't stop.

"My last boyfriend - he cheated on me for a year. I left him, but I stayed in London, waiting for him to come back to me. He did, and I still tried. That's pretty much the story of my life. I try too much, even when it hurts."

	He blinked, and then smiled softly, leaning in to kiss her when she was done, and hugged her close. "Than you, for being honest, for telling me you." He smiled, heart in his eyes, and bounced. Alice blinked as he kissed her, then blushed herself. She ducked her head into his chest, giggling. When he said her real name, her cheeks went even brighter. "I swear like a sailor, and I was a stripper for years. I'm not that sweet."

The car pulled to a stop and she hopped out, leaning forward to hug the driver and let him know that she'd call him when she was ready to go home.

"You're going to make me stuck blushing, and then I'll lose my job." She wrapped an arm around his waist once he was out of the car, guiding him toward the pub.

"So. You're a hero. Do you like it?" She'd always been self-reliant, picking up and moving to other countries without a dime and still landing on her feet. She wondered how it would feel to have a hero, someone to rely on.

Alice sat down, motioning for him to sit next to her. There wasn't really a menu, just some food items printed on a piece of paper. She read it over again, letting her head rest on his shoulder as she did so.

"I'm sure you'd be good at it. You're honest, and that's what's important when you help people. That, and the desire to do it. That's what I think." She shrugged and looked up at him, trying not to say anything too stupid.

"Clearly, you don't know that many cute people." She blinked a little, not totally sad that his face was so close to hers. She angled her body upward until her lips were pressed to his, closing her eyes and really thinking about how it felt. He was soft, and he smelled clean - not overly cologned. Like a guy should smell. She wrapped her arms around his neck and let her fingers run through the soft hair at the base of his neck.

"Those are good too! I'll have some pastrami and get some mints, then. It's decided." She set the menu aside and wiggled out of the booth to go place their orders. She got them both waters as well as a pint - that way if he didn't drink, he could just have the water.

When she settled back down into the booth, she beamed at him. "You're sure you're okay being seen with a Playboy bunny?"
