If she really stopped and thought about it, Mia wouldn't really be able to say what it was that had gotten her so upset so quickly. It was a little sadness that had been clinging to her despite her best efforts lately. She'd done her best to rid herself of the negativity, especially with Jon and Rei so happy together, but it hadn't worked. She'd ended up snapping at Jon and regretting it a few minutes later. This was dumb. Mia was being dumb and she knew it.

Emotions all over the place, she went flying. She passed by the spots her father took her when she was upset with things and found that seeing them only made her feel worse. After a little while, she messaged Cuddy because she didn't know where else to turn to. Even then, she was reluctant to bring her problems to her mother. She didn't want to bother anyone with her issues.

But Cuddy was a sympathetic ear. And Mia knew something was up with her mom, there was just a look that Cuddy got when she didn't think anyone was looking. She was sad. Maybe it all had to do with Clark. Mia couldn't tell. But she did want to feel better. And she wanted her mom to feel better, too.

So she suggested they go somewhere weird. Together. They hadn't really done the mom-daughter thing. Now was as good a time as any.

"Hi," Mia said as she zipped into the apartment. She stood before the open door of Cuddy's room. All it took was a glance to tell that Jon wasn't home. For this, Mia was most grateful. She didn't want to fight with him further and she didn't have it in her to apologize just yet.

"I'm sorry... if I'm bothering you." Mia spoke hesitantly, looking down at her feet a lot. "You really want to go out, right? If not, we don't have to go." She really hoped Cuddy wanted to go. Mia needed a parent.

	Mia nodded. Sometimes she wondered if maybe she and Jon were a bother. Her mom had been all on her own and now she had the burden of two super teens. It probably was a lot to handle. "I'm sorry guys suck." And few probably compared to her dad. "I don't want you to be sad." That was such an immature thing to say and yet it was extremely true. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	"Yes well I'm sorry they suck for the both of us.. and you're young and have lots of things to get through and to learn about still.." she hugged her daughter tightly this time, "I don't want you to be sad either. Mia was grateful for her mom. This wasn't like hanging out with Clark, but it was just as good. And it helped. "It's not your fault. It's not anyone's fault. I miss home and I miss dad. And I'm lonely and Jon's got Rei and that's good. I really like Rei. She's really nice. I just... am a little selfish." She frowned.

"Do you think there's anything we can do to feel better?"

"Yeah.. I think you get that from me.." she kissed the top of Mia's head and nodded. "That's pretty much how I feel.. well mostly. Selfish and lonely, that's just ... how I seem to always have been. So.. no matter what you decide to grow up to be? Don't ever put all of your work first and push everything off.. it's not worth it.."

She let out a breath, "I'm not really sure, Mia.. the best we can do is try and manage together and rely on each other. And possibly wander around the beach a while. I wonder if Mexico has ice cream."

"I'll remember that," Mia nodded. She didn't look happy, but she looked comfortable. They needed to do this more often, Mia thought. "And you're not selfish. I don't think so."

"Ice cream's everywhere." She made a face. "I'm not really sure if it's always good ice cream..." She looked down. The water gave way to land. There was Mexico. Mia didn't touch down until they'd reached a nice part of the beach, away from most other people. "We can go searching for ice cream," she said as she let go of her mom. The sound of the waves against the coast was loud and soothing. "I wish there was something easy to do. Like move or something. I think it was easier back home." That was mostly because her dad could say one word and make her feel better. "I don't know." She exhaled.

When they touched down onto solid land, she unwrapped her arms from around her, "Suppose you're right. They say don't drink the water, but I've never heard of anything about the ice cream. Yeah.. I'm sorry that you have to.. be here.." she wasn't exactly hurt that Mia liked it better not there, but she didn't know how to make it better. "I just always thought I'd get a chance to.. figure out how to be a mom and not.. like this." she was pretty sure she wasn't an awful mother, but when it came to things like this, she was clueless.

"Don't be sorry! I like it here. I just wish dad was here with us. Or that we could take you home. But then Rei would still be here and I really like her." Sometimes Mia rambled. She exhaled loudly. "Sorry this is so weird. It's different. We disappear and then we come back older and... it must be really hard." Mia bent down and picked up a pebble. She tossed it lightly out into the sea.

Her toes wiggled in the sand a little, "It's hard for all of us. And neither of us asked for anything like this. I never ever expected to have you three just vanish on me." it was hard to tell anyone about how much that had hurt her. They were just babies, but she'd finally had what she wanted, and all of them vanished like they never existed. "I guess we all handle it differently but the same.."

	"Well then I suppose he just has to learn when it's a good time for it, and when it's a really bad time.." she put her arm around Mia and nodded, "Yeah let's walk.." she gave her a small squeeze and then released her. "That might be asking for too much," Mia said this with a ghost of a smile on her face. She felt bad for snapping at Jon. She had to fix it.

They walked in relative silence for a while. Mia could hear all sorts of things with her ears, but she tried to ignore them for a little while. She wanted to come up with an easy solution for all of them. So that they could all be happy. Nothing came to her. "Did you always know what you wanted to do?" She asked the question suddenly.

	"You're probably right.. boys.." because really the word 'boys' explained just about everything when it came to.. well, boys. She looked up and nodded a bit, "Yeah. Well I knew I wanted to be a doctor.. running a hospital, not so much. At least not until I got into the administrative side of things. I wanted to help people..and medicine was what I was good at." 	"The best thing to do is try out a whole lot of stuff and then figure out which one suits you.. which one you like best.. try a little of everything. 	"Really?" Mia looked curious suddenly. She didn't know her grandparents, but she wanted to. "Was she nice? Besides wanting you to get married and have kids..." She looked around. 	"I'm sad I didn't get to meet her. Or your dad." Clark's side of the family hadn't been around, either. "I'm glad she was good to you, though." "I'd like that. And I think Jon would, too." 	Mia laughed. "That sounds nice. I'd really like that. Maybe she'll show up." Mia could hope for that, at least. It was highly unlikely. But she could dream. Mia nodded. "I like that idea.
