If she really stopped and thought about it, Mia wouldn't really be able to say what it was that had gotten her so upset so quickly. It was a little sadness that had been clinging to her despite her best efforts lately. She'd done her best to rid herself of the negativity, especially with Jon and Rei so happy together, but it hadn't worked. She'd ended up snapping at Jon and regretting it a few minutes later. This was dumb. Mia was being dumb and she knew it.

Emotions all over the place, she went flying. She passed by the spots her father took her when she was upset with things and found that seeing them only made her feel worse. After a little while, she messaged Cuddy because she didn't know where else to turn to. Even then, she was reluctant to bring her problems to her mother. She didn't want to bother anyone with her issues.

But Cuddy was a sympathetic ear. And Mia knew something was up with her mom, there was just a look that Cuddy got when she didn't think anyone was looking. She was sad. Maybe it all had to do with Clark. Mia couldn't tell. But she did want to feel better. And she wanted her mom to feel better, too.

So she suggested they go somewhere weird. Together. They hadn't really done the mom-daughter thing. Now was as good a time as any.

"Hi," Mia said as she zipped into the apartment. She stood before the open door of Cuddy's room. All it took was a glance to tell that Jon wasn't home. For this, Mia was most grateful. She didn't want to fight with him further and she didn't have it in her to apologize just yet.

"I'm sorry... if I'm bothering you." Mia spoke hesitantly, looking down at her feet a lot. "You really want to go out, right? If not, we don't have to go." She really hoped Cuddy wanted to go. Mia needed a parent.

It was a lot of things that were upsetting her. The lack of not having Clark was probably the biggest part, but it also had to deal with the fact that her hospital was destroyed and she hadn't been able to stop it. That she had to start all over for who knew how many times. And the fact that no one seemed to really appreciate the things she did for the hospital sat on her shoulders.

Oddly enough she missed the island, where there was only a handful of doctors, and they had to do just about everything themselves. The hospital was run by all of them, not just her. She had given up on trying to do anymore paperwork for the evening and put everything away when she heard Mia at her door.

"Hi.. come in.." she waved her daughter in and smiled slightly. "You're not bothering me. If I have to sign one more thing I'll go cross eyed. I'd love to go out."

	Mia was hovering slightly. She glided into Cuddy's room and sat down on the bed. "Good." The two of them had rainclouds hovering over their heads. Mia looked at her mom and sighed. She wasn't going to rush out just yet. "You do a lot of work." She thought for a minute. "Could you get an assistant?" She smiled a crooked little smile, "I could try helping..." She watched her for a moment and nodded, "Running and rebuilding a hospital is a lot of work. I had an assistant.. well.. I mean I've had them before.." she looked up at her. "Are you sure? It's mostly boring things like answering the phone and putting away papers. It's not very glamorous. Oh and copying. Lots of copying. I'm sure we destroy lots of trees during the year, but everyone wants everything copied.."

	"I don't mind." She didn't, really. Mia liked spending time with her mom. And with Cuddy busy doing work at the hospital, it would be easier if she was around helping. "I don't know if I'll be any good at it. I'll try." She shrugged. "I can do things fast. Really fast. Speeding bullet fast." That was her selling point. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

"Then you're already a notch ahead of everyone else. If you want to give it a try, I'd be happy to have you.. I'm not sure when we'll actually be getting into an office, but if you want to help me around here with things, you can help.. actually.. I could use some opinions on .. well the looks of things." she got up from her desk and went around to the other side, sitting on the edge of it. "Rebuilding means making everything pretty.. well pretty enough. No girly hospital.." she smirked.

	"I don't mind doing things here." Mia nodded a little. "I just want to help." What she really wanted was to make Cuddy's workload lighter. She smiled. "Okay. No girly hospital. "Then you're hired," Lisa told Mia with a smile. "You're a very big help, thank you. Well there are, but I never can tell what something looks like by those. I've got pictures and things, but mostly I've got catalogs.. catalogs and catalogs of all different kinds of tables and chairs, and equipment, and paint samples and god knows what else. You name it, it's gotta be decided.. that would help me the most I think. At least now."

"I can do that." It would be a big job, but Mia was basically looking for what looked nice and matched a hospital setting. She could do that sort of thing. While flying to and from school, she'd be sure to peek down at other hospitals and see how it was done across New York and London. "Just leave a pile of catalogs and things on your desk with a note for me and I'll do it." She smiled, feeling a little helpful.

"But no work tonight, right? Tonight can be a mom-daughter thing?" She looked at Cuddy with a little smile on her face. Clark, from time to time had always announced daddy-daughter days. This felt similar. "A mom-daughter thing in Mexico."

"All right, sounds good. I'd let some of the others do it, but god knows then I'd have every room in the hospital look different and be covered in pictures of naked women," she rubbed the back of her head and nodded. "No work tonight. None at all. Mother and daughter thing. In Mexico.."

She smiled and got up off her desk, "Not sure why it's Mexico, just never been there. And it's warm and there's beaches and stuff. Why not?"

	Lisa gave a little nod, "Yeah I'm ready.." she figured that's how they were going to go, so she headed out of the room with her daughter and grabbed up one or two things before leaving the house with her. She waited until they were outside. Then she put an arm around her mom. Mia could have held Cuddy with a finger, if necessary, and not broken a sweat. It was nice being super. She didn't fly too quickly and she made sure to go up high slowly so as not to scare her mom.

When they were high up it got quieter and the stars get more visible. There weren't any clouds and the city was covered in white. It was beautiful. After a little while, Mia looked at her mom. "Can I ask you something?" She spoke quietly.

	It had been quite a bit of time since Lisa had flown anywhere, much less with her daughter. She put her arms around her to hold on and tried not to appear too nervous when they lifted up into the air. It was always gorgeous up there, and she really did like to fly. That was a loaded question, and the look was written all over her face. "I don't know to be honest.. I mean I have you both, I wouldn't ever give that up. I just.. I miss your dad more then I thought I did, and I guess I didn't realize it until you both showed up. And I'm.. disappointed in myself for getting hurt.. and letting people down.. but people who.. don't give .. a rat's ass about me. Most of the people who used to work for me before all of this? I don't even speak to them anymore.. I.." she paused.

"Sorry, I'm rambling."

	Mia listened silently, her eyes on her mom's face. "No. Don't apologize." She sighed quietly. "I miss dad too. A lot." She looked sad. "I'm sorry about your old friends. They... they stink." "Yeah they do stink. I mean I know they have their own lives.. but.. they used to acknowledge my existence. I'm not even sure they'd care if I was dead.. and not even in a .... I hate her, I wish she wasn't around kind of way, just because they didn't notice me.." she shrugged slightly with one arm.

"Being hurt and.. everything else.. I don't know, it's just a lot I suppose. There's Stacy.. and I know she means well I just.. we're in two different worlds.. yet again.. or at least it feels that way," she let out a breath.

It was easy enough to do so without being awkward so Mia rested her head on her mom's shoulder. The hold turned more into a hug than an arm around Cuddy's middle. "I'm really sorry, mom." She raised her head a minute. "Do you want me to beat them up? I can do the laser beam from the eye thing. I can do it invisibly. Won't even get caught."

At the mention of Stacy, Mia frowned slightly. "Maybe you could talk to her?" That seemed such lame advice.

	Cuddy hugged Mia back gently, "Nah.. it's okay. I doubt they do it on purpose. And honestly, violence doesn't work on those people. I'm not even sure what does.." she hugged her again. 	Mia looked down. They were above the ocean. Beneath them was dark water, above them dark sky. It was calming. "You really miss dad." Duh. "I'm sorry. It's hard, right? It doesn't get easier." Mia missed her dad. It seemed like she missed him more as time went on. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Cuddy looked down too towards the ocean, and nodded her head, "Yeah. I do.. No.. it doesn't get any easier. I tried.. to move on. But.. no one wants to settle down with an old woman who's got two teenage kids. No offense.. you both come first, and I wouldn't give that up for anything." she felt like she had to keep saying that. Like maybe she thought they didn't think she wanted them or something.

	Mia nodded. Sometimes she wondered if maybe she and Jon were a bother. Her mom had been all on her own and now she had the burden of two super teens. It probably was a lot to handle. "I'm sorry guys suck." And few probably compared to her dad. "I don't want you to be sad." That was such an immature thing to say and yet it was extremely true. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Mia was grateful for her mom. This wasn't like hanging out with Clark, but it was just as good. And it helped. "It's not your fault. It's not anyone's fault. I miss home and I miss dad. And I'm lonely and Jon's got Rei and that's good. I really like Rei. She's really nice. I just... am a little selfish." She frowned.

"Do you think there's anything we can do to feel better?"

"Yeah.. I think you get that from me.." she kissed the top of Mia's head and nodded. "That's pretty much how I feel.. well mostly. Selfish and lonely, that's just ... how I seem to always have been. So.. no matter what you decide to grow up to be? Don't ever put all of your work first and push everything off.. it's not worth it.."

She let out a breath, "I'm not really sure, Mia.. the best we can do is try and manage together and rely on each other. And possibly wander around the beach a while. I wonder if Mexico has ice cream."
